"Very good food, large but well appointed restaurant. I asked for a quiet table in the reservation which was ignored. Attentive waiter but did not seem overly knowledgeable. Overall it was a good meal in a popular spot relatively expensive but not crazy."

"Going to dinner with four girlfriends is always so much fun but can be challenging for any waiter due to the menu modifications. But our waiter got everything correct and was so pleasant! Nothing was a problem!

"We have always had good meals at the Moderne Barn and we expect a noisy evening, because the room is large and the ceilings are high. Last Saturday night the food and service were wonderful, but the noise level was worse than ever, even though our party of 4 was seated in a "relatively quiet" area. We could barely hear each other and we had to resort to shouting to make ourselves heard. Ultimately we decided that the noise level ruined what would have otherwise been a great dinner. To make matters worse the management insisted on playing music loud enough so that the thumping of a background beat could be heard above the crowd. We all agreed that music could add to a lively atmosphere but in this case it was superfluous - and damaging."

"Service prompt, attentive and pleasant -shared a good clams casino appetizer; 2 pasta dishes - conchiglie (as in small shell shaped pasta) with scallops & cavatelli w shrimp - seafood not overcooked and seems to have been properly added after the pasta had cooked (many restaurants turn the seafood into mush) would have preferred seafood not cut up as much -shared trio of tea creme brulee comprising three small ramekins with chai; valrhona dark chocolate; & earl gray, caramel & golden assam. Each was distinct and very good. -upstairs room ok but we dined late & found ourselves virtually alone in this separate area -downstairs tables were set up more for parties of at least 4 with a couple of deuces - ask 4 downstairs or upstairs terrace"

"we've been to moderne barn before, always downstairs, and were always very happy with the food and the service. the place is really beautiful; like a rocky mountain lodge with a hopping bar scene. we were entertaining the groom's family from out of town before our daughter's wedding. they had us seated at a nice round table for 12 upstairs. it was quiet, and private, but we were attended to by a very professional staff headed by jessica, our waitress. everything was great, and they accomodated the different dietary requirements with ease. totally great. so quibbles whatsoever. thanks."

"This was our first time at the restaurant and we found it to be very welcoming. The staff was very attentive and the food was excellent. The restaurant has a spacious feel to it with the high ceilings and multiple levels. The restaurant has an interesting decor with modern wood paneling and is very pleasing to the eye. "This was our first visit to Moderne Barn and we would definitely come back again as well as recommend the restaurant......while sitting upstairs immediately over the main level is a bit noisy because the sound raises up from the bar area - we would recommend sitting on the main floor or if on the second level to request a table is back larger dining area for a better noise level.....the food and service was excellent........we had the Sesame Tuna and the Lamb Loin over lentils special - tuna prepared perfectly and the lamb was tender and moist.......we did see a lot more selections we would want to enjoy and hope to do so soon"

"I love Moderne Barn and so have high expectations.....which weren't quite met the last time we dined there. We were seated near a service station, and there was a strange smell (brussel sprouts?) that I worked very hard to ignore, and then there was our waiter, who was earnest and sweet but not very good. For the most part the food was delicious, although the tuna was mealy.

"The food and service were great. However the "ambience" on the Friday evening we had dinner (May 3rd) was a bit like TGI Fridays on a Saturday. The noise level was so high we could barely have a conversation without repeating or speaking very loudly to each other. The bar area was packed with very loud people trying to impress each other and was difficult to pass through to get to our table. I'm just glad we were a few tables away from the bar. If we go again it would have to be mid-week."

"Great food, but the noise level is horrendous. Don't understand why they have to turn up the music when the place is PACKED with people. Service was okay, I like to have the water refilled frequently, and after the bottle was empty, no one brought a fresh one.The tuna and scallop mains were cooked perfectly, served with wonderful vegetables on both. It was nice to sit and not be pushed so that they could turn the table, but at the end of two hours we wer all tired of screaming...not possible to have a 4 way converation, which is the biggest negative. We love the food, and prefer the quieter times, and especially for lunch."

"The food is very good but not superb. Probably the Plc tries to do too much; the menu is almost diner-like. The one list is very well considered and strong evenin res with few bottles. Service absolutely top notch, and the room is dead beautiful. Yes, bit noisy, but not overwhelmingly so. I'd cut the menu by half and focus on making two-star food... But then agin, the place is packed, so having something for everyone obviously works..."

"French onion dumplings were so interesting and tasty. Seafood risotto was reallllly good. I'm a Big Mac n cheese fan and that was just ok. Fig pizza was also really good. The crust was amazing. When asked if it was a good appetizer for 2 was told yes but was way bigger than that and had to take some home so could try other apps."

"We have been there several times and always impressed with the quality of food, ambience and service. It is true it can get a little loud but not to the point of bothersome unless you were expecting something hush hush. Saw big celebs there! Also, it is always a little chilly for the ladies. Wear layers!"

"We bought furniture here when I was a kid, so that aspect was fun. The restaurant has been beautifully designed. The food is good. I was comfortable with the noise level, but it could be rough on anyone needing a hearing aid. The staff has been trained with care, a rarity. We are in the hospitality industry and this really stands out for us."

"We went to Moderne Barn Friday night it was very bussy. Staff is on top of their game,very prety hostess welcome us with a big smile, we got drinks right away and loved the food. Best pizza I ever tasted. And amazing pasta selection."

"this was our third time here. We have had come in for drinks and appetizers, another time for dinner and this time for brunch. the food has always been very good. We love it. Its very trendy, but not over the top expensive. I would definitely recommend."

"We've been to Moderne Barne several times but will probably never go again after our most recent experience. We were steered to a tiny table for two right on top of other diners even though other tables were available and I had specified on my open table reservation that it was a special occasion (my husband's birthday). We had to ask for: bread, to hear the specials, for grated cheese on the pasta. When I wanted another beverage it took 10 minutes to even find our waitress. There were bits of shell in the lobster bisque. It was a Monday night, the place was mostly empty and there was no excuse for such poor service. Also, when we left the tables that were empty when we got there were still empty, so clearly we could have been moved."
