"The brunch was very good. Lots of options. I highly recommend the cold bar. Our reservation was at 9:45 on 6/16. Our server made a rude comment after I looked at the bill and passed the bill to my sister to the affect of "oh,I've never seen anyone refuse the bill before." I was splitting the bill with my sister and thought the comment was rude."

"I have been all over the world for work, and eaten some great meals, but Shaws tops them all. I took my wife to Shaws, while we were celebrating our anniversary with a weekend getaway in Chicago. Our waiter was the most cordial down to earth guy ever. His food and wine suggestions were dead on. I got the Blue crab stuffed Lobster, on his suggestion, and it is the best dish I have ever eaten. My wife got the crab cakes, and was extremely pleased. For and appetizer we had the crab spring rolls, and both my wife and I agreed we could of stopped the meal right there and been blown away. The appetizer was that good! Desert was a gift of key lime pie from the waiter, it was a delicious end and nice sentiment to the meal. Can't go wrong with Shaw"

"My husband and I have been there several times; it being a go-to place for celebrating anything. Excited because we hadn't been there I a while, it was quite disappointing. My husband ordered the lobster boil. To me, it tasted like what sewage smelled like. My lobster pasta was extremely mediocre. "Food and ambience is good but they obviously run a slick production line. As soon as one of us had finished a plate it was rushed away by a lurking waiter who stared at us until all plates were finished. It was actually very uncomfortable and quite rude. I looked back to our table as we were leaving and 3 guys had already begun clearing a setting for the next sitting. We won't be going back for that reason. When paying premium prices for average seafood I expect to be able to eat the meal in peace without the wait staff trying to push me out the door."

"Wonderful meal here. Of special note are the cocktails which were imaginative and festive. Also, I appreciated the fact that the "simply grlilled" haddock was precisely that - grilled - no butter or sauces which is what I requested. The roasted beets appetizer was also very good and unique. This is a pricey restaurant, but at least it delivers on what is promised!"

"We throughly enjoyed our evening at Shaw's. We have dined there a lot over the years whenever we are in Chicago. Our food was all delicious with the exception of my Whitefish entre. "I've been dining at Shaw's for quite a few years.... I'll try someplace new and always come back to Shaw's.... there is no equal is fresh and expertly prepared seafood in Chicago. The servers are awesome, professional, attentive and while not being intrusive. There may be trendier places, but they are not equal in food quality. We actually left another "new and hot" seafood restaurant one Saturday night after the appetizer and went to Shaw's to order dinner.....the cape bay scallops were superb - it is very hard to get perfectly seared bay scallops....sushi selections are always a hit. The sea scallops are the best. I had the chopped seafood salad this last time.. tons seafood!"

This time the food was still excellent, but our server would visit other tables next to us 3-4x before bringing us our food/and or checking on drinks. "This eatery is Eh.. okay. The Whitefish with a horseradish crust was prepared well and tasted good. The surf and surf was a let down. Small portions, very little flavor, the plating was similar to the taste, drone and boring. The prices are too high for the quality. There are much better and more romantic seafood places in Chicago that have more flair than Shaw's that are slightly less expensive. "Shaw's?? Its okay!, Not great and not worth the money." I probably wouldnt return and would not recommend it to my friends and family."

"I made reservations, we were sitted right away. Our sever, Chris was so knowledgeable and helpful. I dined with my 13 yr old daughter everyone there is so nice. We celebrated my daughter's birthday and at the end of our dinner Chris bought to our table a slice of cake with a candle. What a great way to end a wonderful evening. The food was awesome. We had the Alaskan crab legs and the sushi. I will definitely be back!!!"

"They brought the entrees out before we had touched our appetizers. We asked them to take them back and they did. Apparently, they just let the food sit around. They brought it all back, but luke-warm. Not great for a lobster dinner. Very disappointed. There didn't seem to be much interest on the part of the staff to rectify the situation."

"Shaw's has been around for a long time and, every time we go there, the restaurant is always packed. We have eaten at Shaw's many times. It is our go-to restaurant every time we come to Chicago (5-6 times/yr). We are always impressed by the consistent quality of the food and the professionalism of the service. We especially love the oyster sampler. For oyster lovers, this is a must. The fish list is small but always fresh, with seasonal varieties featured, and always prepared perfectly. That is why we always keep coming back, despite the variety of excellent restaurants in Chicago."

"Recently Chicago Magazine had an article on Chicago's "best" lobster rolls. We have already visited two of them, finding both experiences barely adequate. We decided to return to Shaw's Crab House after a hiatus of several years after we did some research and found that they, too, serve this delicacy. Of the three spots visited so far, Shaw's has the best lobster roll by far, and for some reason they were not mentioned in the magazine article - a serious omission for those of us who equate lobster roll with a celestial experience.
By the way, if you ever visit Plattsburgh, NY, you'll find an even better lobster roll at Mainely Lobster, where the regional locals enjoy very plain fare, well-served. The lobster is always fresh."

"I just recently moved back to Chicago and couldn't help telling my friends, "we have to go to Shaw's". I don't know what happened but my food and presentation of my food was something I could have made at home. I don't know if there's a new chef but I was very disappointed! Probably won't go back!"

"Went for my wife's birthday. Been here in the past and it was good. Felt like a touristy location with average food. Premium crab leg prices with average quality - don't mind paying big for solid delivery - this was not it.
Bad entree for other member of our party and they brought another one."

"Sushis a starter apparently had been prepared hours ago, the "fresh" tuna look dry and old.
Surf and turf was good but one out of three orders was very small, about half the size of the other two orders.

"We have been here for brunch a couple of times and have always enjoyed ourselves. The food is great with lots of typical brunch items to choose from. We loved the bacon and the seafood choices. Everyone left full and happy. Our service was good but we did have to remind our server several times for things. Last time our server was much better so if this place could work on anything it would be a more consistent wait staff. (Our table had an automatic tip of $70 which was fine just wished we had the server from our last experience.) Great for groups, we will be back with ours."

"My table order sushi and oysters for appetizers and it was delicious and fresh. The sushi was probably the best sushi I ever had. The food and service was great. I would eat here again. I’m from the south and where I’m from seafood is highly seasoned with different spices so I thought the crab cake was a little bit bland but overall the food was really good."

"The restaurant was under a bridge in a dark area which felt uncomfortable, but ended up a perfect spot. The interior was wood paneled and felt like I stepped back in time. The service was perfect - attentive without being overly so; the food was very well prepared and delicious. I had never had Wall Eye before and found it to be flavorful and done to perfection.My dining partner enjoyed the haddock done so it was just flaky and not dry. Prices were commensurate with the place, service, and quality of the food."

"The evening did not start well. The "Greeter" ignored me for several minutes while he took care of several groups of young women who arrived after I did. When he finally acknowledged me, he said he thought I was with someone else and then handed me a beeper. The food was good, and the server did a great job offering suggestions for wine, dinner and desert. I do not think I will return the next time I am in the city."

"Great evening for my three out of town guests. Food was very good. The only downside was that our waiter must have been very busy at the end of the meal.
