"For a place advertising they make their own corned beef and pastrami, I expected it to be melt-in-your-mouth tender and delicious. The corned beef was not tender but dry and chewy. We've had better when made at home. Very disappointed especially for a $20 sandwich. I love cole slaw but couldn't eat theirs. It actually tasted very salty. The $10 slice of cheesecake was delicious. Had to keep hunting for the waiter to get coffee. Finally asked another waiter to find ours."

"I went to the trouble to make reservations, which was totally unnecessary, The maitre 'd didn't even ask. I definitely would not return. The Split Pea soup was bland and luke-warm at best. The soup contained soggy slices of a hotdog/sausage. The signature "Stella" Macaroni was another disappointment again, luke warm with a thick slab of cheese on top. The service was decent I expected so much more from a restaurant named "The Brooklyn Diner.". sadly disappointed."

"We ate dinner at the Brooklyn Diner. While we were seated right away the waiter took a long time to get to us. The menu is limited. Entrees were expensive. They did not have an option for a cup of soup or dinner salad. These were only available in large sizes. I had the stroganoff with noodles in cheese sauce (I liked the stroganoff sauce more than the cheese sauce) and did not come with bread or vegetables. My husband had the sole with spinach but not with rice, pasta or potatoe, so we shared. But for the price of entrees they should have been a complete entree. It seems like what you are paying for is location. We will not go there again . Better to walk a couple of blocks away from Times Square for a better meal."

"I have never been disappointed when grabbing a bite here before seeing a show. The food is both eye appealing and always well prepared. Great salad options, as well as their famous deli sandwiches.
Attentive wait staff. Only down side is the noise factor."

"I had high hopes for the Brooklyn Diner but unfortunately my family and I were disappointed. Service was friendly but somewhat slow for lunch in midtown. The biggest let down was their "famous" chicken pot pie. It is expensive but it is also huge - almost family sized. Nice crust. That's the good part. The problem? Almost no chicken. It should have been called celery pot pie. The pie was loaded with pieces of bone and gristle. Not very appetizing. Overall, I didn't mind the very high prices (after all, this is Manhattan) but the food quality doesn't match up. I don't think I would go back."

"Very simple, yet good food. Large portions. A bit noisy and the tables are very close together. Expect to hear your neighboring tables' conversation and get bumped by waiters and peope moving about. Good for a small group, but make a reservation first."

"Whisked to our table, fed, and sent enroute with plenty of time to make our show. Worlds largest chicken pot pie with huge chunks of chicken, great crust and sauce. Cuban chicken is amazing. So was liquid and solid strawberry cheesecakes with chocolate. Hard to know which was better."

"I am so glad to have discovered this gem! The food was excellent. The menu offered a nice variety of delicious choices. The service was superb: everyone from the hostess to the wait staff to the manager, who came to ask how everything was, was friendly and helpful. I met a large group and they were ready for us with the tables set up, etc. I hope to return soon to try the othe delicious choices on the menu!"

"The food was great-the service was terrific. My husband put the restaurant on the "we will be coming back list". I had the lobster salad. Big chucks of lobster and no mayo. It was delicious! I treated myself to a chocolate egg cream."

"It is a very clean diner just in the heart of Theater District of New York. Nice place, friendly staff generally except a guy who brings the plates from the kitchen. He just puts the plates in front of us as if he throws them. They end the brunch a bit early, at 11:30AM so be aware of it. You have to plan ahead of time. The food is expensive for the quality of the food you eat when the bill comes."

"This was our first visit to the Brooklyn Diner in Times Square, although we have eaten many times at their other midtown location. The food and service were both very good, with generous portions at reasonable prices (for a New York City restaurant). The menu is varied, offering familiar American fare. The noise level was much quieter than at the other location--less diner-like, with more spacious seating. We were pleased to discover that reservations are taken at this location. We enjoyed a very nice meal here."

"This was our first time at the Time Square Brooklyn Diner, we have been to the Carnegie Hall one before and the Time Square is much nicer inside. Food was great, top quality and unique versions of French toast and pancakes. Everything very fresh tasting and delicious. Service was very attentive and friendly. It is expensive, breakfast for 6 was 150 dollars so it is a special occasion diner!"

"This is a perfect place to take out-of-towners. Right in the middle of Times Square, it has the old New York feel, the classic diner menu, huge portions and nice atmosphere. The chicken soup is fantastic and so is the coconut cake."

"We went to dine after a viewing a performance of on Broadway. We made reservations for a party of eight. The staff was friendly, no problems with the reservations. Although most of the food was fine, it wasn't anything spectacular, especially for the price--even as far a New York prices go. I ordered the fish and chips and found it to be disappointing. I expect the batter to be light and crispy. This was soggy and chewy as if "warmed in a microwave". I'm not saying it was. I'm not sure how it was prepared but it certainly did not measure up to many a fish n chips baskets found at even run of mill chain restaurants. Perhaps the staff was having an off night, but it did not live up to it's reputation."

"We sat for about 20 minutes before someone came to take our order, than it took over 30 minutes after placing our order to actually get our food. If I have to pay $20 for a burger they can at least get it to me in some sort of timely manner. There's is no kids menu, so if you go with small kids you will be ordering the, the same $20 burger that you get.
They did seat us right away with our reservation."

"Extensive menu. Corned beef and pastrami piled high... Bread not the usual NY freshness. Everything ala carte - even pickle for sandwich. Ask for a booth so you don't feel crowded with all the folks in and out. NY cheesecake delicious. Chicken pot pie and HUGE meal. Onion straws delicious too!"

"This was the worst diner I have ever gone to. The food was over priced ($18.00 for hot dog). Nothing tasted special and and the service was just average. A real tourist trap. I will not go again."

"The lunch menu has changed. They stopped serving thin crust pizzas. Also, the prices of the the menu items have gone up a lot. Burgers are almost $20 and they are definitely not worth the money. I will not eat at Brooklyn Diner anymore."

"Unfortunately our experience was very poor. We were able to get a table for 8 people on a recent Sunday morning. But the service was extremely poor and the food did not come out as we ordered. The waitress was inattentive and slow. The special requests or additions were not filled. We don't mind paying for quality but as far as the service and food the price for this breakfast was totally unreasonable! We will not be returning."

"We booked Brooklyn Diner for a table in 10 minutes, rushing two blocks to arrive on time. The host said, "There'll be about a 20 minute wait." "Even with a reservation?" I asked. "Well, you just booked it 5 minutes ago." Indeed, and the Brooklyn Diner accepted our reservation. We turned on our heels and departed, since we knew we could (and did) get a table at the Red Flame right around the corner. If participating in Open Table, then honor the commitment. If something comes up, just say, "Oh, I'm sorry, your reservation popped up just as we were seating another customer. We'll try and slip you in as fast as we can, but it might be 20 minutes. Again, I'm very sorry for the mixup." Food rating based on prior visits..."

"Found the menu to be very limited. We were there early for dinner; 5:30pm. We were seated quickly and a third member of our party who arrived late was accommodated, though it took a while for waitstaff to take his order. I ordered a salad with grilled shrimp (an add-on). My son ordered a burger. His burger was average. The grilled shrimp I ordered on my salad were some of the best I've had. Just a warning - if anyone in your group is vegetarian or doesn't like meat, this is not the place to go. I also found the prices to be high for the type of food served. On the plus side, the service is good, they don't rush you and our order was filled correctly."

"We were a party of 8, four of whom were kids, and the All-American comfort food for brunch was perfect for our crowd. The kids loved the red waffles with fruit. I thought the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon was divine. Despite having a reservation, it took a long time to seat us and we ended up at the front doorway on an icy cold morning with the draft blowing on us the whole time. This location, though, is ideal for Sunday matinee theatre goers. Just beware to get your order in quickly before noon because there is a 30-minute changeover lull between brunch and lunch menus when you cannot order anything."

"I've been here in the past and had decent lunches, mostly for work. I took my family here on a Sunday around 11:30 prior to a show in Times Square. The food was average, the service slow, they were no longer serving breakfast during the middle of Sunday brunch time. My wife had a vegetable pizza which was soggy. And worst is that lunch for 2 adults and 2 kids cost $130!! Don't foresee going back."

"A fun, bustling restaurant with a real old fashioned diner feel... Great chicken soup, gigantic portions, imaginative menu. The best noodle kugel ever - big enough to share or take home for dessert . There is also counter service, perfect if you happen to be dining alone or meeting a friend. Highly recommended any time of the day."
