"We enjoyed our visit to Hefner Grill. I chose this restaurant because it was close to where our friends we were meeting lived and I wanted to try it. The parking lot was packed! Not easy to find a parking spot. Inside, I had asked for the best lake view available during my reservation. We received a nice spot overlooking the patio and the lake from inside. The food was good but nothing special for our tastes. Because we don't like such noise and crowds, we probably won't go there much. For the food we received, we also thought it was a little pricey. Our favorite place to eat out is Outback, so when compared price wise, this was a good bit higher for less food."

"Found Hefner Grill using OpenTable. Our friends wanted to try something different. Wow! First, the view is wonderful. Regardless of where you sit, most tables have a good view of the lake (and now it has water!). And the food tasted great and was delivered expediently. Do yourself a favor and order the crab dip as an appetizer."

"I had brunch with a friend on the patio! Get there early because it could be a long wait for tables out there. Service was wonderful. There was a choice for brunch or lunch. We both had bloody Mary's which seemed to be never ending. Very pleased and will return soon!"

"Took my wife for the first time during lunch. We got the table I requested. A booth facing the water. She got coconut shrimp with garlic mashed potatoes and I had the blackened tilapia with seasoned veggies. Appetizer, lunch, and dessert was great. Service was terrific. More than six different people stopped by with our food, drinks, or just to check on us. We will go back again!"

"My wife and I went to the Hefner Grill for our anniversary dinner. Having never been there before and it being a grill, I decided to have the $30 ribeye steak. Talk about disappointment. For $30, I'd hope to have a steak that had some flavor, but I had to add a ton of salt just to get some kind of taste. It was like they went to Walmart and got a steak off their shelf and tossed it on the grill with no seasoning. Redeeming factor of my meal was their Garlic Mashed Potatoes. They were amazing! If your entree doesn't come with them, substitute for them, you won't be disappointed."

"We have gone to Hefner Grill a few times now and each has been for a special occasion. On our most recent trip, we were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary. The waitress was very friendly but respectful of our privacy by not hovering over us. The food was perfect and well-priced. The atmosphere is very comfortable without being snobbish. We'll definitely go again."

"This place has a great location right on Hefner Lake. Great spot for outdoor dining with friends and family or for Sunday Brunch. The entire table loved the crab cakes and the grilled shrimp platter was fresh and delicious. Although the overall atmosphere and food was great the service was very poor. None of the wait staff was friendly or upbeat. They could definitely improve on providing more timely services (taking orders, drink refills, processing the check, etc) and engage their customers with more conversation and a better attitude."

"Arrived at 7:30pm to watch the sunset over the lake at dinner time. Half of our table ordered the bone in pork chop, which we all agreed is phenomenal, as is the crab dip appetizer. "Other guests' food in our table was cooked well and tasted good, but I was the only one that ordered the sirloin steak, and the steak was undercooked. I wanted my steak cooked medium-well, but it was medium-rare to medium. I didn't mention it to our server since I didn't want them to just put the same piece of steak back on the grill/oven, which just dries out the steak and makes it dry. The price is a little higher than other places for comparable items. It might be OK for an occasional "something different" but definitely not worth it for dining there often."

"Wow, my family's first experience at the restaurant was Saturday night. As soon as we entered we were seated and we were surrounded by the pleasant sounds of live jazz. The other guests were also plesant which added to the positive mood.
If you come here for the food, you won't be disappointed. Our salad was good with fresh ingredients. Our main courses were well prepared and not over-seasoned. The deserts, which we ordered first, were also a hit.
I am surprised there were no Zagat ratings."

"Food was excellent, staff was on top of things, we really enjoy it every time we go. My only complaint is that parking is not adequate for the three busy establishments there on weekends. You have to fight for a parking spot. It really needs to be redesigned. It is OK on week nights, but I will think twice before going on a Friday or Saturday night again."

"A standout dining experience on the lake. The seating is quick, and the service is thorough and efficient. The best part is the food, a blend of cajun and American, carrying a tradition of menu items that I hope they serve forever - gumbo, red beans and rice, squash rockefeller, and on and on.

"We had an out of town guest to entertain and your restraunt was recommended to us as a good place to have dinner. We really loved the execellent food and wait staff. We also signed up for the painting class, and had a blast. We loved it."

"Everyone should try this restaurant at least once for a date night, hangout or brunch. This was my third visit and I plan on returning.
Although we were not immediately seated with a sunset view as I had requested according to my reservation request, the staff made accommodations as soon as i made them aware. The crabcakes, plank salmon and pork chops were excellent. My date's Riesling was mistakenly served in a Burgundy glass. Overall, an excellent experience and i recommend The Hefner Grill. For groups, you may want to reserve seating near the bar with a view of the performing artist."

"Our group of six went to Hefner Grill to celebrate a birthday. The food was very good with a menu that was varied enough to satisfy all. Live music on a weeknight was also a plus. "We went there for valentines day. This was our very first time. The food was very good, and the service was great. There was no wow factor or romantic feel. The decorations were minimal for valentines day. We went at 4pm may be it was too early for valentines day. I feel this would be an excellent place to grab a few drinks and a nice meal on a Friday after a long week of work."

"We wish we had requested a booth. We were sitting at a table in the path of servers and guests where we were constantly being bumped into and interrupted. In the past we have always been seated in a booth and did not think to ask for one when we made the reservation. My pork chop was excellent but my husband ordered fish and chips and found the fish to be over cooked and rubbery. We had excellent service and did not want to leave because the live music was outstanding."
