The posh retail district known as “The Avenue” in Greenwich Connecticut is now home to a stylish Italian restaurant and gathering place, Morello Bistro. Owned by the London based restaurant group, MARC, Inc, with restaurants in London and New York, Morello Bistro combines regional Italian cuisine prepared by Executive Chef, Mark Medina-Rios,with exceptional wines and superior service. A familiar face, James Branigan, formerly of Terra Ristroante Italiano in Greenwich, will be looking after guests, ensuring special care and attention to detail. The bi-level space is a historic Guastavino design with domed ceilings. The décor is tastefully chic and brings together casual warmth with high energy. The large bar is a social focal point of the restaurant where creative cocktails and global wine selections can be savored. Restaurant Menu URL: www.morellobistro.com

"We had dinner for 6 on a saturday night. The food was prepared flawlessly and delivered to our table promptly. The wines selected were enjoyed by all. We were seated on the lower level near the bar which gave us the full effect of the very high vaulted ceilings and a view of the staff and guests gliding up and down the stairs to the mezzanines. The fish dishes were wonderful. We had the Halibut and Salmon, also some of the pastas and braised short ribs. They were all very good. Dont miss the fresh doughnuts for desert."

Review 3 for Morello Bistro
Overall Rating

"We were quite pleased with our first experience at Morello. Service was very good. We were seated upstairs, which at first I was leery of but was ultimately quite happy. Bar scene, downstairs, was pretty lively, too. The food was excellent, with the menu including both classics and non-traditional items. We mainly went non-traditional and were pleased with the starters and main courses. Of note, the roasted ricotta cheese, a special starter the night we were there, was excellent. The only complaint on the food was that the portions were too big (which I note is different than some other reviewers' views). Specifically, the gnocchi entree was suitable for two, if not three people. Others were full-sized at a minimum."

"Simply delicious food. I had a salad of roasted beets and a mushroom ravioli that was fabulous. My husband had an arugala and a main course of halibut, prepared perfectly. The desserts sounded great, but we passed. We enjoyed a glass of wine each, and there were good selections by the glass and we both enjoyed our wine. Staff was a bit snooty, could have been more friendly."

Review 8 for Morello Bistro

"Went here for a pre-Valentine's Day dinner. Opted for the prix-fixe menu which included oysters, scallops, rib eye for two, and chocolate torte for two. I was impressed by the flavors that I experienced. Everything was seasoned perfectly, and the rib eye was cooked perfectly - medium rare.
What impressed me the most was the service. As soon as we finished with one course, someone was right there to refill our wine glass, take away our used plates, and present us with the next course. Even though the restaurant was busy, they managed to give every table this level of service, from what I could see."

Review 18 for Morello Bistro
Overall Rating

"This was our second time at Morello. As before, the food and wine (supported by the excellent sommelier) did not disappoint -- superbly executed classic Italian dishes plus some innovative specials. And the room, particularly the upstairs area with its vaulted Guastavino tile ceiling, is very atmospheric.
The first time we went, our waiter was extremely professional and attentive, and really worked with us to make the evening a success. For this most recent visit, however, we had a different person with a different attitude -- a waitress who seemed uninformed about the food and not particularly interested in us. Small things like having to wait for the bread, and poor timing of the food courses, subtracted from the experience."

"Had a bad experience and left before eating. The table we got was really wobbly...too wobbly to eat on. We asked politely to either move or get it fixed. The problem was ignored and the next time our waiter came over he tried to take our order instead of adddressing the table issue. So we left.
I think this was more of a server issue than a reflection on the restaurant as a whole and my wife has eaten here before (for lunch) and said the food and service were good."
