"Made a reservation, had to wait 20 min anyway. Felt like nobody cared enough to speed the process of clearing tables. Served beer with hot glasses, took 10 min to bring them back still somewhat warm after asked to chill them. Martini was also served in a warm galss, the drink wasroom temperature. A martini! The server looked anoyed when asked to fix those mistakes. The food was ok for those, who love meet, not too much choice for others."

"We went there for Mother's Day brunch. For a barbecue place, they hardly had any barbecue for the buffet. I realize the place was busy for the holiday, but for each drink and sauce we asked for, we had to ask twice. They had a brunch menu on the wall which included strawberry infused cheesecake and espresso brittle ice cream. Both were not served and when we asked the waiter for the ice cream, he said we can order it off the menu. Really?! why put it up for a buffet menu if you're going to charge people extra for it? They must have sensed my discontent cause they included 18% gratuity to our bill even though there were just 5 of us. For all the build up and positive comments I read, I was sorely disappointed."

"We came here to celebrate my mom's birthday and Mother's day. The food and service was fantastic, specifically the st louis ribs and the pulled pork sandwich. The brisket sandwich was a little bit on the dry side and not the best dish I've had there. The dessert was also spectacular - pecan pie and the largest piece of carrot cake I've ever seen!
I definitely recommend making a reservation, this place is a popular neighborhood spot."

"Mother's Day ended on a sour note at Chicago Q. We (party of 7) waited an hour for our food and another hour for our check. The food tasted as if it had been sitting out in the kitchen. On multiple occasions, our waiter would disappear. We will not be returning."

"Very disappointing. I ordered the competition ribs and they were not good. Spicy nothing at all special about this slab of ribs. Price was 38.00 and not worth it at all. In fact I will say I have never had such horrible ribs. The service was just OK. Our order was taken and within 2 minutes one of the sides we ordered showed up. Very loud and not enjoyable."

"The complimentary chips and bread and butter pickles were great but the brisket was the fattiest sandwich I have ever eaten - or not eaten since I only consumed part of half the sandwich. The cornbread was great and the coleslaw was good but the baby backs were just OK - they did fall off the bone but were lacking in flavor. Nothing outstanding about any of the 4 sauces offered. Very nice valet guy."

"This is the best restaurant I have gone to in Chicago and I have been to top recommendations such as Chicago Cut and others. It is primarily barbeque so it is limited in that way, but it is top-notch, gourmet barbeque. They are adding fish dishes soon I was told. I have never been disappointed at Chicago q. Food and service is wonderful; some would say the barbeque is to die for. I have never liked bourbon until I had their proprietary q bourbon. It is smooth. Please only drink it neat. Superb wine list also. Leanne, you're the best! We will return."

"My husband and I had out of town visitors last weekend. They were interested in seeing the sights and experiencing some great food. We love the food at Q and even more, we feel it is a great value for the quality, portion size and location. There are few restaurants in the Gold Coast where you can have a nice restaurant lunch for less than $20 per person- the average sandwich is around $14. The ambiance is comfortable and elegant and is suitable for any crowd."

"q is such a great place with some of the best BBQ I've ever had. My BF and I went there to celebrate something since it's on the pricey side, but well worth the price. Service was great and they had a good drink list. We ended up trying the Bruleed Mac and Cheese as an appetizer...amazing! Then we both had baby back ribs for the main meal and those were perfection. The meat was so good and the BBQ sauce was great. They do give you multiple sauces to try but we only used the original. If you live in the River North, Gold Coast or Old Town area, this place is great and close, but even if you don't, I recommend trying it."

"We ate outdoors on the small patio which has lovely pillows for seating. The free pickles and chips are very good and addictive. My husband loved his salmon and side of brussel sprouts. I had the half slab of St. Louis ribs with coleslaw. The ribs are precut which is a nice touch. Although ribs were good, they are too fall off the bone. I prefer the meatier kind of ribs like at Smoque. It is a lovely restaurant but some items are very pricey for barbeque food."

"We had an overall excellent experience at Chicago Q. We were running late for our reservation (on a busy Saturday night), but the staff juggled things to accommodate us. Our waitress was also fantastic. She explained everything on the menu, made very helpful suggestions, and didn't rush us at all. She was there when we needed her (and even anticipated our needs) but wasn't meddling or pushy. I would rate the service among the best in Chicago, which is saying a lot! The food was equally great--I had the pulled meat appetizer sampler as my entree--highly recommended for the indecisive...it is the best of all worlds - pork, beef, and chicken, plus the to-die-for cornbread."

"Very enjoyable BBQ experience. The right about of soft lighting and bustling on a Saturday night without feeling like your are elbowing your neighbor. For me, the best part was the variety of excellent BBQ sauces - 4 of them, all unique and fantastic. We had the hush puppies for an appetizer and the "special" for dessert: a concoction of Bacon, Phyllo dough, and chocolate mousse. I would not recommend that dessert. A little too much salty bacon flavor with not enough chocolate. Other than that, we loved the experience and will be back for more pork and cornbread!"

"Who knew you could find such wonderful bbq this far North? I'm from the South - and we know how to BBQ down there. Chicago Q is the best I've had this far North. It's simply wonderful. Not only is the meat wonderful, but the sides are killer, too. Get the braised greens! Get the cornbread! Get the baked beans! I mean seriously - this is so so so so good. The sauces are all fantastic as well. You cannot go wrong here.
Oh - and they have wonderful sweet tea!"

"Very good food. It came out promptly and hot. Ribs were great. The sauces are different from most BBQ sauce I've had but I enjoy mixing the mustard and hot together. Also, one weird thing, in my take-home box they put in the rib bones I had already eaten. Besides that, great experience. Ribs, brisket, pulled pork, sweet cornbread, mac and cheese, cole slaw, pickles, chips, and pickled onions are amazing."

"Food was decent. The staff standing and watching the tables was disconcerting on the verge of being intrusive. Some may prefer the "attentiveness" but our party would have prefered a more casual approach to the attentiveness. We felt "watched" but realize this was part of the routine for staff."

"Great place to go with a group. There were 10 of us and we had a really cool private room up front with a vaulted ceiling - made it feel like we were gathering at a friends house for brunch. Every one if us loved our food and look forward to going back. Their Bloody Mary's are incredible as are the complimentary homemade BBQ potato chips and pretzels. The hush puppies are insanely good and the BBQ Kobe was top notch. It was fun that they bring out 4 different sauces that you can try on your BBQ. The wait staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. And they had an opinion which is nice when you're feeling indecisive. We will definitely go back!"

"My parents were in town and we decided to try Chicago Q. We absolutely loved it!! Being from North Carolina, my parents agreed that the BBQ was excellent, and I loved the ambiance even more. It somehow manages to be both cozy and energetic, hip and antique in the best kind of way... Definitely somewhere worth trying! I hope to go back soon for brunch. One note -- the portions are ENORMOUS, so order wisely!"

"Everything we had other than the meat was excellent. Mac and cheese, hush puppies, salads and the table snacks were all great. The brisket, however, was just OK. It was tender but not very flavorful. Of all the brisket I've tried, this was my least favorite.

"My girlfriends and I enjoyed the non-traditional breakfast menu and delicious Bloody Marys and bottomless mimosas. The atmosphere was great and we ended up staying for 3 hours. We moved to the patio after 2 hours and were in love with how cute and comfy it was. It was a great way to spend an afternoon."

"In a word.... Delicious! Each of us had a different entree. The pulled pork was melt in your mouth. My husband had the brisket, our friends had the pork chop and the succotash. Definitely a cut above- this is not a Barbeque joint- the prices were fine for the quality of the meals, our server was friendly and knowledgeable. You will love the bread and butter pickles they serve while you enjoy a glass of wine and peruse the menu."

"Came here for the Easter brunch with my family in the afternoon. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The food was delicious, though they did get quite backed up at the bar with drinks. The restaurant was packed, and quite loud, but overall we loved it. We were seated at the front of the restaurant, in a smaller room so it was a bit quieter for us than it probably was for others. There are two parking garages around the corner so parking wasn't an issue either. Planning on returning with my boyfriend to have something from the dinner menu. He had the carrot cake pancakes and I had the Cheddar-Chive Biscuits and Gravy. Both of us loved our choices."

"As it was Easter, the restaurant was very crowded and very, very loud. The service was a little harried and not that friendly and the food took a long time to arrive, but since it's was Easter that is understandable. The grilled fruit brunch entree was not worth $12.50. It was small chunks of fruit (similar to a canned fruit salad) served with some creme anglaise like substance (not thick ricotta cannoli filling as advertised) and a small sprinkling of granola on top. Absurd for the price. The other members of our group enjoyed the pulled pork, kobe eggs bendedict, and biscuits and gravy and the portions on those items was very large."

"Was nice for Easter lunch. Were seated within 20 mins. of time of reservation. Table was in main area. Sat by a family who definitely enjoyed the bunny. The wood floors and walls mean the room was LOUD. Sometimes it was tough to talk. On our other side a couple was not doing so well with the volume of clatter. I was with a friend so we persevered in raising our voices to be heard. The food was good. It was not great. The quality of the Kobe brisket was excellent. But the plate was filled with thin liquid so the French fries were soggy and cold within seconds. There were four choices of sauces--eech. The meat itself had no taste. Liked Brussel sprouts side best. Desserts big but so cold so texture hard. Best was staff! Very polite and nice."
