Connected through French doors to its 12 year old catering and private party event space Corner Cooks, Jerry"s offers American cuisine with an eclectic twist. Bridget Burns turns out thoughtful, inventive and fresh dishes with specials introduced every Thursday. Fresh fish is the rule and always offered.Surprises abound. From chicken curry with French influence to the house favorite-seabass in a sweet chili broth to killer fried chicken.Lunch is all about salads (beet salads a must)and the daily trio. The granite tables were built by the owner's husband, a school teacher and craftsman and are particularly beautiful by candlelight. When Corner Cooks is not hosting a party, request seating in the fireplace room which is painted a delicious blue green color with windows overlooking Chestnut Court. A neighborhood favorite, and part of the community, Jerry's is run with care and commitment which shows from kitchen to table.
"after several great experiences at Jerry's, this was only a good one. My meal (pork tacos) was tasty but the meat seemed very overcooked and was dry and difficult to chew. On the other hand, my wife raved about how wonderful her curry vegetarian dish was. Deserts were good. Kitchen was a bit slow. I don't think it should take 40 minutes after ordering to be served one's meal (but then that's just me). I was glad I had such good company...."

"We had a simple meal at a convenient time. Food was quite good, especially the salad and the fried chicken. Always reliable and a pleasant dining experience."

"This is a great place to take Mom to celebrate Mother's Day. The buffet was outstanding. Fried Shrimp with a curry sauce, eggs with ham and Gouda, perfect bacon! Worth every penny."

"Went for mother's day brunch. While the food is consistently good, the cost was pretty ridiculous, value-wise for buffet brunch. Adults 45, kids 20ish. Buffet included 3 egg dishes, cold poached salmon, coconut shrimp, asparagus, mixed greens salad, mini baked potatoes, bacon, french toast, 2 chicken dishes and a beet salad. Assortment of 5 mini desserts. Did not include a glass of juice or cup of coffee/tea. For that price, thought a glass of champagne and/or a carved beef would have been nice."

"Both the kitchen and wait staff need more focus. Nothing terrible, nothing worth returning for. The lentil soup was tasty, but too thick. The trio lunch special was incorrectly described by the wait staff, resulting in 1/3 of the plate not being edible by one of our party. No apology or offer to replace, just "they sometimes change it". We had to beg for water, brought wrong order. The beet salad was too sweet. The restaurant is close to being good, but not there."

"Excellent food. The dining room is a bit small but not a big problem. It does create an odd dynamic in that the busboy is always hovering, which made me uncomfortable."

"Easter Brunch - good food, rather small selection but sufficient and delicious. We were all satiated afterwards. Seating (in back) rather tight. Very accommodating waitress (German)and pleasant."

"Jerry's is a favorite of ours - this evening it was particularly empty (Good Friday, Spring Break) so we practically had the restaurant to ourselves! Our server was very nice, very helpful, attentive - but that's normally the case with Jerrys' servers, even on crowded evenings. Our food was reliably good - flatbread pizza, soups, salads - all delicious. The shortribs were good, not my favorite, but a large portion. This is such a good neighborhood restaurant, with reasonable prices and a great atmosphere. If you live on the North Shore and you've not tried it, you should!"

"My husband and I took his dad and wife to Jerry's for dinner before a show downtown. We all enjoyed our meals, from the branzino to the skirt steak. The service was excellent and our drinks were never empty. Our table was a great size for four, big enough for comfortable room and conversation even though the restaurant is on the smaller side. We'll definitely be back!"

"I'm a frequent visitor to Winnetka. My wife and I liked Jerry's so much that we went back 2 nights in a row. Took a "native" who hadn't tried it. She was impressed, too."

"We have been to Jerrys several times and loved the food but this time we ordered off the specials menu. Big mistake. The food was so bland even a salt shaker would have been welcomed. The fish was perfectly cooked but devoid of any flavor and the side dishes were equally as boring, plain and dry. On the positive side, the servers are truly professional and you can't beat the romantic fireplace room. We will definitely be back again but will stick to the regular menu."

"The restaurant was packed on Valentine's Night and we decided to hang by the bar with some friends and eat tapas style. We started with the fried oysters served in a martini glass with horseradish sauce-outstanding-went on to pizza-split grilled branzino (wow) and my husband had the pork. on to the trio of desserts. It was a special night-while clearly busy the staff was friendly and kept us aware of the longer than usual wait time. They had a small kitchen and it's remarkable the quantity and quality of what comes out of it. Very personal. Very special."

"Disappointing experience. It was Valentine's Day, but we had picked Jerry's specifically because we'd had such great experiences in the past. It took a long while for someone to wait on us. Ultimately, we asked the bus boy who was supposed to wait on us. Eventually someone came. Getting our order placed and then served also took a long time. My suggestion is don't go for Valentine's Day or other holidays. They can't handle the volume of business."

"We hadn't been to Jerry's in awhile and the food was good. There are 2 sides to the restaurant and each side is fairly small. Even though it was good, the menu selection is small and prices high. The beet salad was delicious and the fish was good but not great. I had the same fish at another restaurant last night and it was better. So with all the choices we have we probably won't return."

"A pricier and more elegant lunch spot -- a bowl of soup with pita points and pot of tea came to over $20, including tax and tip. The soup was scrumptious, though."
