Welcome to JJ Astor (located on the 16th floor of the Radisson Hotel Duluth), where guests enjoy welcoming service, inspired décor, modern approachability, unparalleled views, and signature dishes.
We have created a contemporary menu utilizing sustainable produce from local farmers and fresh fish from local fishermen.
Whether settling into the oversized armchairs in the lounge, or admiring the view from the inviting sofa style banquettes, the restaurant provides a memorable dining experience for locals and visitors alike.
Authentic portraits, blueprints, and photography from Duluth’s past adorn the teak panels located throughout the restaurant. While the most stunning view is undoubtedly the view of Lake Superior, the interiors also paint a captivating picture of their own.

"First time visiting the restaurant. Was a special occasion for my girlfriend I made note of it during the reservation but it was obvious nobody had read it. Food was good service was barely adequate. Restaurant was empty almost never saw the waitress. Overall meal was extremely expensive with almost no service whatsoever we were not impressed. I don't think I would go back at least not for long time. If this review is anything like the reservation or the service this won't even be read. Thank you. Randy"

"We had a great time enjoying all the views. The food is defintely overpriced. It was good but not as good as you would expect for the prices (in Duluth at that...). There was a little mishap of spilled wine and they did apologize and comp dessert. The server suggested "mocktails" for the kids and I agreed not knowing that they were $6.00/each. The scallops were good but for $14.00 I would expect more than two. Would go again, maybe just for a drink to enjoy the view."

"The best thing about this restaurant was the view. The menu needs help. I ordered Osso Buco. I assumed it was veal - no meat description was given. Turned out to be pork and the flavor was very americanized. My son ordered a filet mignon and it was at most 5 ounces. He said the flavor was just "okay". Our waiter didn't have or want time for us."

"I've been there a number of times and have always been impressed in the past. This visit was different. Seems like the food wasn't as good as it has been in the past. I had the duck breast and my husband had the osso bucco and neither of us were impressed."

"My fiance and I have been visiting the JJ Astor each February for the last four years. Each time we find something a little different to try on the menu. And each time, it's fantastic.
We have always made reservations - and we are always seated on time - if not early. The wait staff are prompt and pay close attention to your requests.
It is a special place for my fiance and I - and even though it's a little beyond our normal budget, we save up to have the fantiastic meal.
And normally we are not dessert people - but the chocolate pot de creme is FANTASTIC! I've never had anything like it before or anywhere else. It is a must have each time we come!"

"We went for the view, which was lovely. The Eggs Benedict was very good with just the right amount of hollandaise sauce, and the French Toast was delicious also. I've never been served such a large glass of orange juice at a restaurant. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful, and the service was prompt and attentive."

"My wife and I vacation in Duluth every year. Every year we have gone to JJ Astor for dinner. The last time we went, my wife noted that it was not up to the standard that we remember. This time will probably be our last time dinning there.
While the main course was good (not great), the presentation was very poor. The side dish (Squash & Gorgonzola) was a cup of cut squash and three pieces of cheese. Over all the food was not quite as good as Olive Garden.
After our food was brought out, our waitress disappeared for the next 30 minutes. Both my wife and I wanted to refill our drinks, but we did not see any wait staff at all.
We are sad that we will not be going back there."

"The restaurant was not crowded - only three tables in use - yet we were all seated next to each other so my wife and I were distracted and annoyed by the loud patron in the booth behind us.
Food was mixed with my wife's Pasta Carbonara average and the restaurant did not have the Shrimp & Asparagus Salad she wanted.
My shrimp risotto was very good and tasty, but my Caesar Salad was bland.
Dessert was the high point with excellent coffee and a delicious Italian Trifle.
