"Food: Excellent, well prepared and seasoned perfectly.
Service: Lacking, not attentive, empty water glass on many occasions.
Ammbiance: Good, but tables are pretty close together and is not very intamite. Was hard to ignore what was happening on each side of you as they are so close.
Overall: Service was the main contributing factor to the low rating. My steak was excellent, better than most steakhouses I have been to in Vancouver. But the server's lack of knowledge of the menu and the fact that we had to rely on on flagging down other servers was not good.

While we will likely return, we will not have high expectations for service."

"This was a surprise birthday/bachelorette dinner for our good friend so we drove 2 hours from Vancouver to try this world renowned restaurant. We are from California and were vacationing for only a couple days but the drive alone was breath taking. Our server James was incredibly personable, helpful, funny and really was the cherry on top for this wonderful dining experience. We had the 5 course meal for $31 (what a steal!) with plenty of options. We were quite full but the 3rd course but everything we had was DELICIOUS! Impeccable food, service and ambience. We only wish there was a view from our table to accompany it! Great for special occasions, will definitely not be the last visit to Whistler!"

"They are celebrating their 31st anniversary with a Dine In Whistler $31 five course meal. Absolutely great experience that both my girlfriend and myself enjoyed. The service and delivery of the food was impeccable. The restaurant can get quite packed and loud in the evening, so if you want a more quiet/romantic experience I recommend making an earlier reservation.
We returned the next day to enjoy their outdoor patio bar and apres special of a dozen oysters for only $10. Can't beat the village location on a nice, sunny day for some good food, libations and people watching!"

"Araxi has a separate vegetarian/vegan and gluten-free menu and can also adjust other items on the regular menu. They have a great selection for vegans and the food is fantastic. They are very accommodating and not once do you feel like it's an inconvenience, as is sometimes the case in other restaurants.

The vegan dishes they offer are delicious, varied and well balanced meals. I would highly recommend it.

Add to that the service is just fantastic."

"We just recently returned from Whistler where I planned my own Ultimate Birthday getaway. Araxi was just the spot! from the Champagne, fresh Oysters to Foie Gras and Eggs Benedict...the menu options were plenty, tasty and eye fetching. Our server was top notch and attentive. "We went during the Dine In Whistler promotion so got five courses for $31. I thought the portions would be smaller given the price but the entree was very decent-sized; the piece of arctic char I got was so big that I couldn't even finish it! Everything was tasty and each plate was wonderfully presented. This deal is probably the best value you will ever get at Araxi."

"But after making a reservation. we were sat in a private room. from the instant we walked in, we had to wait for 10 minutes and then we got seated in a room by the kitchen and away from all the hustle and bustle of other people enjoying their meal.
we asked the lady that sat us down if we could sit in the open area. and she said there were no tables available and that we had to make a reservation.
A - a made a reservation
B - we checked the open area and there were at least 10 to 15 free tables.
If she had said that we need to spread the service around then fine. But, dont lie.
We asked the waiter and in 2 minutes we were sitting amongst the crowd.
besides the awkward first 20-25 minutes. the place and staff was amazing."

"We come often but the best time to come is when the restaurant has specials as it is quite pricey. Worth every penny though.

"I always love going to Araxi's. My husband does complain about the noise and how hard it is to hear us all talk at a table for four. MY arctic char was bland. I remember it being better. Not sure I will order that again..My husband did not like his polenta. Bland and dry. Our guests liked the steak and the chicken. The risotto was outstanding, the gaspacho was OK, the tuna appie was outstanding the dessert was divine! All our wine choices were great. Even though the special was $31. each we spent $450. We like wine and martinis. Good times and good service for sure. If the service was not good we would never go back..SO critical in the dining experience."

"Good ambiance. However service was average and not very attentive. We ordered the halibut, but it was overcooked and tasted rubbery. Can't say whether it was the kitchen's fault, as it may have been sitting for a while waiting for the server to pick it up. We were also celebrating a special event, but there was no acknowledgment of this by the waiter. Was hoping for so much more given the price. However, we will likely try somewhere else next time we are in that area. Not worth it for the price."

"Great variety of appetizer and entrees. We had a party of 4 and shared a few startes: shellfish platter, sockeye salmon sashimi, dungeness crab roll, pan seared foie gras; all were delicious and wonderfully presented. Entrees were equally excellent with quite a lot to choose from smaller to larger plates items. Barely had room left for dessert but rounded out well by sharing a Valrhona chocolate fondant. Service was friendly, attentive and unobtrusive."

My husband and I shared the 1lb lobster cocktail, he had the char and I had halibut. No complaints about mine but he left still quite hungry. Great wine list. Overpriced even for Whistler."

"I felt somewhat that we were rushed. Only half way through pre dinner cocktail and our appetizers arrived and wine was corked and poured at same time.
The waiter should have asked if we would like to finish our drink before salads served and wine opened.

We started with oysters and a tuna roll. My wife had steak, and I ordered the duck. Both dishes were outstanding. We shared ice cream for dessert with capaccinos. They brought out the ice cream on a large plate with "Happy Anniversary" drizzled in chocolate on the plate. Very nice touch. We took our time, and spent about 3 hours there. It was pretty darn perfect :)"

"I had the sashimi special to start, Canada Triple A beef tenderloin and black forest cake for dessert - everything was fantastic. Staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. "This is not a sushi restaurant. In fact the sushi offered is over done and not at all tasty. Steak was good, fish dish good. Risotto undercooked and watery. We were there on a Monday night so maybe regular chef was off. The build up for this place was big so we were disappointed to say the least @ approx 325 dollars for 4 with no appetizers and 2 glasses of sake...."

Prices are what you'd expect for a high-end restaurant, with a few over-the-top items for those with excess cash (e.g. King Crab).
The clientele seems to be in larger groups (4-8) and well-lubricated before arrival. This combined with tight table spacing results in a very noisy dining experience."
