The "jewel in Vancouver's culinary crown" presents innovative, seasonal dishes brilliantly conceived by Executive Chef Quang Dang and talented pastry chef Rhonda Viani.
Service is seamless and hospitable. The exquisite surroundings include a custom built temperature controlled wall of wine complete with sliding library ladders, providing the backdrop to the bar. The leather chairs are the Mario Bellini designed originals found at MOMA, surrounding etched stone tabletops, highlighting a handsome and inviting room that speaks to contemporary Vancouver.
Over seven hundred labels reside in the collection including an excellent range of half bottles and over thirty wines by the glass. ‘BEST OF AWARD OF EXCELLENCE’ Wine Spectator since 2002.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ONLINE RESERVATIONS ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR PARTIES UP TO 10 GUESTS. IF RESERVATIONS ARE UNAVAILABLE ONLINE, PLEASE CALL RESTAURANT DIRECTLY.

"We went at 5:45 before theatre at 8 pm at the Stanley. Great way to start the evening . The pre theatre menu was excellent. 5 stars on service, presentation and taste. The spring pea soup is not what you think ; very fresh and creative."

"My mum and I had a wonderful three-course Mother's Day brunch before seeing a matinee at the Stanley. The experience was flawless - excellent food, attentive service and a relaxed ambiance. My gluten-free dietary request was accommodated with ease and there was even a basket of house-made fresh gluten-free bread done especially for me at a moment's notice. Thank you for putting me in Mum's good books for the rest of the year!"

"The food at West is outstanding, everything seemed very carefully prepared and presented. The cocktail list is inventive and the drinks we tried were fantastic. Only two things that need improvement - the waiter seemed to be constantly trying to 'up sell' - suggesting side scallops with the crab salad, suggesting an order of foie with the duck entree, this isn't necessary in this type of restaurant; the other negative was that the wine we selected was not available.
There were wonderful dessert choices although I felt like the $15 plus for the chocolate tasting plate was high, it really wasn't particularly special, everything was sticky and overly sweet."

"Brunch at West is definitely 5 stars!!! All our dishes were excellent.........crab benedict, fresh oysters, side order of crispy pork belly, tagliatelle with chicken & bacon. The West fries with aoili is a must! We've tried lunch here many times & have never been disappointed. Service is always friendly. The hours are great too......you can come in at 230pm & have little meals at the bar. Overall, West is definitely one of the best restaurants in Vancouver."

"If you're going to splurge, here's a choice. Impeccable service. Fantastic food. Nice, dining room with lots of energy but not overly loud. Spot prawn risotto was a delicious started. Husband's mushroom tortellini looks nothing like the stuff you buy in stores and was fabulous. 5 stars. My chorizo chicken was good but not as outstanding as the tortellini. We'll be back."

"My husband and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary dinner at West. We are from Seattle and this restaurant was well worth the drive. The food was wonderful but the cocktails were outstanding. We chose the seven course seafood tasting menu and were not disappointed. The food was well timed and every course was an adventure. We will definetly be going back to WEST."

"We reserved 4 days ahead for Sunday brunch. The restaurant wasn't busy, so I was disappointed when the hostess led us to a booth at the back, directly in front of the door to the washrooms and right across from the noisy open kitchen. We asked for quieter table and were then placed in front of the kitchen wall. Somewhat better but the kitchen noise could still be heard. Hostess could be more welcoming and considerate. The server was very good and lunch although light was very tasty - crab benedict with a small side green salad. Tasty mimosas and the server treated us to an anniversary plate of chocolate truffles - lovely. Also impressed that they adjusted the bill by 15% when they overheard we were going to the play at the Stanley."

"beautiful, elegant place. service is top notch. food presentation artfully executed . we each had a different main dish & they were all delicious - mushroom tortellini. lingcod & special of the day snapper. portions were substantial. breads are baked in house & butter is uniquely prepared. the extra virgin olive oil served with the bread was excellent. they are very generous with the portion of butter & XVOO too. we chose different desserts - trio chocolate sampler, creme brulee & sour cherry tart. again, all get a top grade. there is nothing negative i can say about this place. even their washroom was pristine. they have an open concept kitchen & you cannot hear nor smell anything. we will dedinitely be back. the manager very attentive."

"I visited West Restaurant with two of my girl friends to celebrate my birthday. The service was outstanding. Our server is very friendly as well as very knowledgable with the food and wine pairing. The food were tasty as well as very well presented. For appetizer, the lobster gnocchi was our favourite. My entree was the Yarrow Meadows Duck with blood orange jus, and it's so tender and juicy! For dessert, the coffee chocolate chip ice-cream that came with my chocolate truffle cake was amazing (yes, i love the ice-cream more than the cake!) But I think the popcorn ice-cream that was part of the 'Chocolate Tasting' plate was the best dessert I had in a while! They have a pretty impressive wine list as well! I would definitely love to return!"

"The four of us went on a Sunday at 6 p.m. so the restaurant was fairly quiet. We requested a booth and got ring-side seats to the kitchen. Our waiter, Julian, was very attentive. The food was excellent and artfully presented. Next time, my husband and I will be sure to have the lobster gnocchi and the duck, which one of our party ordered. The scallops were killer. My husband and I had been at La Regalade the weekend prior to dining at West and were very disappointed at the quality of the food. For example, my husband ordered duck and it was a leg and thigh, and was very bony and fatty and was approx. the same price as the beautifully presented duck breast at West. We'll definitely go back to West."

"We were a family group of four, celebrating a birthday, and the restaurant in no way disappointed us. From the courteous hostess to the efficient and friendly wait staff, the service was excellent. Between the four of us we tasted three different appetizers, four main courses and two desserts: everything was delicious. Not the first time we have enjoyed this venue, and it won't be the last!"

"Can't say enough about the wonderful staff. Very friendly and accommodating. We went here for lunch and two in our party was late. We were served well after the restaurant was supposed to close. The wine list is fantastic. The food was delicious but my friend said her salmon was a bit on the dry side. The waiter was very informative. He explained what every dish was when it arrived at our table. To say the presentation was creative would be ab understatement. It was if the ideas came to the chef in a dream. We had such a good time that what was supposed to be an hour and a half lunch turned into a 3 hour affair.
West Restaurant and Bar turns fine dining into an unforgettable event."

"It was a shame that the meet and greet at the door didn't reflect the high quality and level of service associated with this restaurant. I wasn't made to feel as if I was very welcome, being told on arrival that I would have to vacate my table for another booking in less than 2 hours. When I'm paying top $ for food and wine, I don't want to feel like I'm just another number in the queue.
The presentation of the food is award winning but it was at the expense of the luke-warm temperature of my meal when I took the first bite."

"Second time to West for me after an absence of many years. The last time I went Hawksworth was the chef and the food was excellent, however the atmosphere was a bit stiff and formal. This time the atmosphere was much more casual and fun. The service was excellent with a lot of very attentive and helpful staff.
The food is every bit as good as we have come to expect from one of Vancouver's finest and most consistent restaurants - a strong menu that is large enough to satisfy most diners. I had the foie gras to start which was executed well, for the main I had the lamb which was fantastic. Overall a great valentines experience - we will be back sooner this time."

"We have never been disappointed with West. The service is always top notch. The pre-theater dinner menu could use a makeover, but the food was still very good. A nice touch letting us come back after the play to have our dessert and finish our wine."

"tried during DOV 2013. the slow cook egg was really interesting and not something you see on a regular menu. personally enjoyed it. overall food was fair. i had the banana cake dessert and it was just like something you bought from the supermarket fridge. service was good tho, and the furnishing inside is really nice. however food is not up to that high end image that it display. for a $38 menu i could have had better choices."

"Came for dineout 2013. Had the hen egg and braised beef. Food was okay pretty good, some unique flavors but it didn't blow me away. Date had the cod and pear salad. The salad was very good. Tried a bit of the cod and it was alright. Desserts were awesome though. I've eaten here before and it was exceptional so perhaps their regular menu is a bit better. That other time they had a little mini appetizer as well as gave us a petit four at the end of our meal which was a very nice touch. This time nothing."

"We have enjoyed West for years through DineOut. We never venture further than the chef's tables (booths watching the kitchen). Though fun, the booth's seats are a little old and sit very low. I love the appy and dessert, however, dinner was nothing special. A little disappointed."
