Marche, located in Eugene, Oregon, opened in August 1998. The restaurant, which seats 80 guests, has an exhibition kitchen featuring a beautiful wood-fired oven. There is also a stylish bar and a large outdoor dining area, covered with awnings and umbrellas and surrounded by a garden of herbs and edible flowers. Marche takes its name from the French word for market – a word that describes our location in the bustling 5th street Market and more importantly, our philosophy of cooking. The menu is based on the foods one would find at a farmer’s market: fresh, seasonal, and regional. Marche is committed to using only those ingredients that are at their best, so our menu evolves as we move through the seasons of the year. Marche also believes in using the highest quality and most healthful ingredients available and to that end use organic, free range, and chemical free products. The culinary technique is French-based: intensely flavored and simply but beautifully presented.
"Great eats, excellent service, one problem OpenTable could solve: I made rez for 2, then added special instruction mentioning baby and requesting a high chair. Marche didn't seem prepared for 2 plus; it isn't a 'family restaurant with lots of crazy stuff on the walls' so they didn't have enough high chairs to go around.
Server was a dad and made us feel welcome as we improvised"

"Great oysters, as always. Over-expensive wine list, as always, but decent wine by glass and cocktails selections. Steak tartare and tenderloin were excellent."

"This was a repeat visit to Marche'...for a friend's birthday celebration. Our server was great. The food was awesome as usual. I had the oysters on the half shell with the arugula salad and then the beef tenderloin. The oysters from Puget Sound were super fresh with a unique and flavorful sauce. The tenderloin was exceptional in a superlative mustard sauce. Others in our party had the salmon, the rabbit or the souffle' and all were impressed with their selections. Everyone tried the desserts to very favorable reviews. The creme brulee was a standout. I would also point out tat the savory beignets were also a big hit with my spouse for a starter. The venue is a standout on the Eugene dining scene. Go there; you will have a good time!"

"This is the 3rd time I've eaten at Marche. I always order one of the fish dishes and once again, the chef prepared an incredible dish. We will be back next time we come to Eugene!"

"Dined at Marche mid week. Place can sit quite a few people but was pretty empty that day. Overall a very pleasant dinner. Bone Marrow, Moulet Frites, Charcuterie followed by Rabbit Roulade and Beef Tenderloin. Everything was excellent. Sommelier recommended a bottle of Bucklin Cab - cheaper than what I had picked and very good. Attentive and pleasant service! So much for the food. Ambiance a "C" at best. It seems when they get busy it would be loud and crowded. As so often a few tables that simply should not exist in a good restaurant. The open kitchen, while interesting to observe, needs better ventilation. The whole place smelled like a food truck.
In all I definitively would go back"

"Food really wasn't outstanding. I expected more after reading reviews. The food was just average. And our waiter forgot to bring a few parts of our order and we had to remind him."

"We have wanted to go for years but never found the time whenever we went to Eugene! And as we are Volunteers for the UO Track Club, it was too late after the meets!....since this Meet was over at 4:30, we knew we could do it.....so, I booked in Feb. for 6 April!...and booked a hotel, too!
It was a lovely evening with delicious food and gracious service....we will definitely arrange another evening!

"I've been coming to Marche for years. It's our "go to" restaurant whenever we are in Eugene, visiting family (2-3 times a year). Within the lat two years there's been a noticeable decline in the quality of service. Our most recent visit was marred by the lackadaisical server who forgot to provide us plates with our order of a dozen oysters, didn't offer bread & apparently forgot one of our entres (we had to remind her that we ordered it). Really too bad because, in general, the food has been consistently good for many years."

"First time at Marche. Our group numbered 4 and we were seated in a nice quiet booth. Service was attentive although there were no offers to go over menu items until we asked. Specialty cocktails were very imaginative. Appetizers were small for the price. Entrees were very good. I had wild grilled sturgeon...excellently cooked and flavorful....an exceptional plate. Other entrees ....goat cheese & green garlic souffle, beef tenderloin and smoked pork chop were cooked just right and very tasty. Desserts were good but not exceptional. Dinner for 4 including tip was $322 which seemed a little steep for the market...Eugene, OR. An enjoyable evening and would recommend and likely return."

"The waitstaff was friendly and accommodating. When I made the reservation over the internet I requested a table in the quietest part of the restaurant because of my hearing difficulties (noise is amplified by hearing aids and cochlear implants) and they did just that. Nice! We had a great birthday dinner and I could hear my partner just fine!"

"A Review of Open Table. I had to cancel one reservation and that was easy. But it wasn't apparent how to easily make a new one. I did, but felt the need to call and make certain that the first reservation was canceled, and a new one was confirmed."

"This supposed to be one of the better spots in Eugene. Could have fooled me! I made reservations early because we were attending the Oregon Truffle Festival. When we arrived on time for our reservation we were told that the kitchen was backed up from walkins. They suggested we have a seat at the bar and drink until things slowed. I declined and said that we expected to be seated, they accommodated within 5 minutes. Our waitress had an attitude from the beginning. The food was very disappointing. I had sturgeon which was slightly fishy. The truffle pizza cheese tasted like swiss and the truffle had no taste. My wife's mussels were very good. Her pork chop was overcooked. The truffle dinner the next night was also disappointing."
