"not a great wine list, but amazing food and ambiance. The room is small, not too noisy, and very personal. The food was excellent and the service was lovely - very friendly and didn't hover. Also, the cocktails are exceptional. I would be worth finding out if you can bring your own bottle of wine to the restaurant for a fee."

"With the exception of the maitre'd's atitude towards redeeming our groupon of $65.00 (formerly worth double, but past date,) the meal and service were exceptional. We ordered one "Theatre Menu" along with another dinner, etc. No where on the menu did it state that the "Theatre Menu" was a 'special," but the matre'd was adamant, insistent and unpleasant in explaining to us that anyone with a brain (he used other language, but essentially he more than implied the concept) could figure out that the "Theatre Menu" was a 'special."
We finally decided to pay a la carte, which we did. Given that Pigalle will sonn evaporate and we have enjoyed so many dinners at the restaurant with friends and family, it was a tasteless end."

"We've heard such good things about Pigalle over the years and we are so glad to have finally tried it. Everything from the staff, the ambience and the food were outstanding. There is a 3 course price fix at $40. That is incredible considering how wonderful the food is! I had the duck and my wife had the Wiener schnitzel and both were to die for. Pana cotta for dessert and French press coffee to end a wonderful meal. We loved it so much we are going back next weekend :-)"

"This was our first time to Pigalle and we went for an early (4PM) Sunday dinner after a matinee show. We chose the "You get what you get" 4-course chef's choice menu w/ 1 wine pairing for $40 each. Since an main course would cost about $30 it seemed like a good deal. First course was a tall shot glass of creamy turnip soup. Excellent flavor but barely more than a sip of it. Hardly what I would call a "first course". The rest of the meal was also excellent and perfect portion size (not too big or too small). The waiter told us the wine was to be a Malbec and would come with the 3rd course. If he didn't know what the chef was going to cook how could he know that Malbec was the perfect pairing? Still all was excellent! We'll be back."

"I have heard mix reviews about the chef, but the food could not have been better. A very good selection of interesting mostly French country dishes given a gourmet spin. The cassoulet with duck, garlic pork sausage and lamb was amazing. What a great depth of flavor. It is a small space but they do not pack the tables so close that you cannot have a conversation. My only compliant was the waiter for such a nice restaurant was a little aloof and unattentive, that is why I give Pigalle only 4 out of 5 stars. Overall, I would recommend seeking out this little gem."

"Great ambiance, and I was very excited about trying Pigalle. The food was pretty good, I had the French Onion soup with braised short rib. It was not quite warm enough, though delicious. For an entree I had the steak frites, which was quite good, and came with a side of excellent creamed spinach. Service was a bit slow. Our waiter took the drink order but did not ask for the food order until a while afterwards. We did not have any food before us (save bread) for an hour after we arrived.
Dessert was disappointing too. The folks who ordered creme brulee had hoped for a larger portion and perhaps a more traditional ramekin, rather than the narrow cups they received. I ordered the fallen chocolate cake, and it was really average."

"Warm, intimate dining room. Friendly host and server. We sat immediately upon arrival and, coming in for restaurant week, we started out with kale caesar salad and roasted beets salad. Both very good, though each just slightly overdressed. Entrees were fantastic! Our server helped steer me to the roasted duck, which we both agreed was the best dish of the evening, and my date tried the escargots, which we some of the most tender I'd had. The wine list had very few options under $50, but our dry Austrian riesling was excellent with the meal. Desserts were panna cotta and creme brulee and our server knew to offer French press coffee at the end. It was a lovely meal and I would return."

"The food was OK..not some place I will go to again. Nothing stood out being good or bad. Our party was 4 people. we went during restaurant week and had the prefix meal...the clams casino would have been tasted great if it was fresh, the duck liver terrine, French onion soup was good like..the cassoulet, duck and salmon along with pana cotta, creme brûlée nothing exceptional. "We went for restaurant week and I think they had oversold their reservations. We were seated 30 minutes after the time of our reservation and weren't served for another half hour after that. We would have each ordered a second glass of wine but the waiter never came back to ask for it. The food, however, was delicious. I am hoping the bad service was just a function of restaurant week and lots of people wanting to try the good food."

"I came here for dinner during Restaurant Week, and I was very impressed. My duck liver terrine was fantastic, though I think I would have preferred toast to the potato chips it was served with. My boyfriend had the clams casino, which were also fabulous. My duck entree was delicious, but his short ribs were better - just insanely good, I would definitely get them next time. So juicy and full of flavor, with just the right amount of salt. I was surprised I preferred his entree to mine, since I'm a duck fiend. The creme brulee for dessert was outstanding, and the lemon meringue tart was fairly good, just couldn't really compare to the creme brulee. I would love to come here again!"

"We enjoyed our meal at Pigalle very much. We went during Boston's Restaurant Week. The appetizers we had were delicious. The cassoulet was exquisite and the crispy half duckling excellent. My daughter's choice of edamame tortellini was excellent as well. The room was quiet, but small, so conversations could be overheard. The service was very good. It would be a wonderful choice either before (or as we did) after a show. The desserts were excellent, and the variety available allowed even those with dietary restrictions to have something (without having to make special requests.)"

"We came here for restaurant week with some friends of ours. I liked that the menu was ONLY restaurant week choices. In the past, when we have done this, we have found the food on the special menu, is sub-par compared to the regular menu choices. There were lots of dishes to choose from which was nice. I had the spring salad and crispy duckling as my entree. While i found the salad to be too salty, the duck was outstanding. Flavorful and not dried out like some duck that i have had. The waiter was ok, while friendly, he could have been slightly more attentive than he was. Overall the ambiance was nice and would definitely go back."

"I went to Pigalle during restaurant week with two of my old college friends who were visiting me in Boston. We were not very hungry because we had spent a full day touring Harpoon, visiting Mike's Pastry, etc. Pigalle has a wonderful ambience and dining atmosphere, but our restaurant week selections left something to be desired. The entree portions of duck confit, risotto, and escargot were fine but overly-salted. The desserts were mediocre-both the lemon meringue and profiterole options we chose. Should have gotten the fallen chocolate cake.
All in all, I would not go again unless it were a special occasion and Mistral was full."

"Pigalle was perfect.
We wanted a new place for dinner that had unique selection of French food. During restaurant week we reviewed all of the possibilities. By far, there were many more options at Pigalle with 5 plus selections for an appetizer, 4-5 selections for an entree and 4-5 desserts. My choice was the red top turnip soup with a mushroom filled potato puff which was fantastic and escargot bourguignon which was superb. The lovely creme brulee with a delicious butter cookie was the perfect ending to one of the finest dinners that I have had in Boston. My partner had the kale salad and cassoulet both wonderful choices. Cannot wait to return for more of the Very finest dining. The chef is unquestionably one of the best in Boston."

Different and excellent bar coctails and a nice wine list.
Very attentive good service.
Unusual and Spectacular food nicely presented.

"As usual, a great meal and a great experience at Pigalle. Had asked for a special table for my wife's birthday and we got a perfect one- plus an amuse bouche from the chef of the special soup of the day. Server was attentive and knowledgable, and recommended a perfect wine after hearing 2 others i was considering. The ever-changing menu of fresh and interesting dishes is always a surprise."

"We decided to give Pigalle another chance following our first unimpressive visit. To say the experience was night and day different would be an understatement, we were incredibly impressed with the service, management, food presentation and overall quality of the food. Our server was incredibly attentive and responsive to all of our needs throughout the meal. We will be visiting Pigalle again in the future and will recommend to friends."

"We attempted to get several last minute reservations, so were delighted when Pigalle had room for us. The restaurant itself is pleasant enough, the staff were welcoming and attentive. However, the eating experience was disappointing. It started with the bread. Bland, pre-baked pre sliced baguette. Followed by a Caesar salad where the lettuce was the bitter outer, tough leaves. My husband had the turbot, which was nicely cooked, but the portion was tiny and served with weird 'paints' and splodges on the place. I had the burger which was absolutely awful. The meat was mushy and the bun dry. I expected better for a place with prices like this (turbot $42, burger $24). I now know why it was possible to get a last minute table at Pigalle."

"This mid-tier restaurant has the ambition to be a top French bistro in Boston, but it falls short on execution in multiple ways. The simple things are missed. For example, the bread they serve is closer to spongy, French bread found at low end, chain grocery stores, and not the crusty, flavorful rolls or baguette you'd expect to find at a pricy bistro. The appetizers and entrees also miss the mark on poor execution. For example, the tuna tartar was lost in too much sesame oil and fried wanton crisps. This turned what could have been a light and complex starter into a heavy dish completely lost to one flavor profile. The service is mixed."

"Has to be one of the premier restaurants in Boston. Best dining experience we have had in quite a while. It ranks right up there with Mistral, Hammersley's and Rialto. Our table selected an array of dinner choices - from scallops, the casoulet, the burger, salads, oysters - all were spectacular.
