"My husband and I were very pleased with the experience. He is not a seafood lover but the filet medallions which were one of the specials quickly disappeared from his plate. My diver scallops looked like a work of art. The fiddlehead firms were a gourmet treat. I never had them before but look forward to having them again! My appetizer of flash fried calamari was delicious as was his prosciutto and mozzarella! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone celebrating a special occasion or just looking for an exceptional dining experience!"

"Went for special occasion but received no acknowledgment despite it being noted with the reservation. Food was phenomenal- the tuna ceviche is a wonderfully refreshing appetizer. Service was a bit intrusiv, making us feel rushed but otherwise helpful, knowledgable and attentive."

"I had not been to Gibraltar in many years. My friend was in town and wanted to go back - she always liked the food. We were seated on time, but sat for twenty minutes before getting water and asking us for a drink order. We only received that attention after searching for a waiter. We were told they were under staffed. We decided not to order dinners, due to the lack of attention. I ordered a salad and an appetizer - the salad I ordered was not available. The few waiters we engaged with were very nice, professional and knowledgeable and we felt bad for them. They felt bad for us too, but we won't be back."

"Raw bar for apps, seared Tuna and crabcakes for main courses. Cheese plate for dessert. Wine called the Unknown 2008. All was perfectly presented and perfectly cooked. Waiter was on top of serving us, filled our wine glasses, cleared plates, etc... new the menu well. This is a five star in Lancaster. Definitely recommend it."

"We were out to celebrate our friend's birthday and we informed the restaurant. They had a birthday card signed by all the staff waiting at the table- a lovely personal touch! The birthday girl has some food allergies so dessert wasn't an option, however our wonderful server bought a plate of cookies decorated with a Happy Birthday Ann greeting & a candle. Our server also sang with us! He was outstanding! Wine was an upgrade & entree special was enjoyed by 3 out of 5 of us. Thank you for a wonderful evening!"

"Gibraltar had an excellent menu variety. I had the seared scallops and they were delicious. There were two of us and we split an appetizer, had 2 entrees, split a dessert and had one cocktail and 2 glasses of wine which brought our bill to a little over $100. While it was all very good, it is definitely more of a special occasion place for us than a once-a-week place. We will go back. My dinner partner was not as in love with the crab cakes though."

"This was my first dinner at Gibraltar's and I will definitely return. The service, the menu and the atmosphere all make this a great place to take out of town friends or for a special occasion. I took a friend for a birthday celebration dinner. When we arrived they had a birthday card signed by the staff on the table. I had the halibut which was perfectly prepared and served with pesto mashed potatoes which really complemented the fish. When dessert was served, the chef had beautifully written Happy Birthday in chocolate around the plate. The excellent service and attention to details made this a memorable event."

"My wife and I visited Gibraltar on May 20th for dinner. She ordered a salad and side order of vegetables as her entrée, and I ordered the Scallops. Her salad was very small, and when my scallops were presented to me, there were 3 scallops on the plate. Given the price that Gibraltar charged for this dish ($28.00), that equaled $9.33 per scallop, which I feel is outrageous. Moreover, even with prices like that, I had to order a "house salad" which was not included in the price of my dinner. We were both still quite hungry as we left the restaurant after our dinner. Needless to say, we were very disappointed in our dining experience (we usually dine out about twice per week), and will never return, or recommend this place to anyone else."

"The occasion was a belated birthday celebration for our thirteen-year-old granddaughter. She always has been a lover of gourmet food, and so Gibraltar was selected on the basis on numerous recommendations from friends. Our dining experience was exceptional. "Lancaster's best restaurant without doubt. We have gone to Gibraltar for years now and feel its pull everytime we go to Lancaster from New York. The crab cakes are the best there are - anywhere. The fish is always fresh and exquisite. The ambiance is outstanding - far superior to all other Lancaster restaurants we've been to. The price is a bit high, but you get what you pay for and I'm happy to pay for this quality. We eagerly look forward to going back yet again next time we're in Lancaster."

"What a great restaurant! This was our first time and I was very happy we decided to give it arty. Located on the campus of F&M College, there is plenty of parking and it is so easy to get to. Being on a campus, I thought this was going to be a brew pub kind of place. couldn't be further from the truth. White linen table cloth fine dining experience with a creative menu. Best of both worlds. I had the lobster fettucini, it was incredible! Nice causal bar with a great wine list. Highly recommended, we will be going back soon."

"We arrived on time and the place was a little busy. We ordered the soup of the day and come fast and was very good (Tomato & Ginger) but the main entree that was very good comes to the table after one hour after ordered. The waiter was kindly and gave a lot of excuses. If you are not hungry and in a hurry is ok."

"We travel to Lancaster for our son's lacrosse games and we always look forward to dining at Gibralter. They never disappoint.

"If you are in "Amish Country" but don't care much for the Dutch Country cuisine (or just want a break from it), Lancaster apparently boasts a few dining choices. Gibralter is one of the best. Its location is on a college campus (Franklin and Marshall) which made me expect a "college" eating experience (burgers, pizza, etc.), but Gibralter is nothing of the sort. The decor is modern and inviting and the menu is American classic (my definition). My wife had a turkey club - excellent, and I had the scallop dish - also excellent. Our server was great, directing us away from a choice that we were tempted to make. We went for a mid-week lunch, so the place was fairly deserted, and I suspect that dinner-time and weekends are quite busy."

"This was a very classy restaurant - the waiters/ waitresses wore bow ties, double table clothes, fancy decanters, end-of-meal hot refreshment towel, etc. Moreover, the food came with as much attention to detail as the decor. While my fiance and I went on Easter (thus, making what I'm about to say somewhat understandable), the menu was rather limited compared to what was offered online - and there was no Tapas menu/bar. Otherwise, I was very impressed. The meal came with olive oil (a delicious kalamata variety) and bread and everything else that I ordered was superb (they nailed the asparagus, duck egg and hollandaise). There is a large selection of seafood dishes with a raw selection - which is the primary menu item and house specialty."

"Wonderful. Delicious food and great atmosphere. My family will go to Gibraltar for all of our special occasions! I took my mother there for her 50th birthday and she was very surprised and happy. After our delicious main course our server suggested some dessert. We were so full we declined and he returned with a happy birthday plate with biscotti and he sang happy birthday with me. It was a great ending to our experience. We'll definitely be back for more!!!"

"The seafood tower was excellent. The Filet was cooked to perfection however, the accompanying sauce was a bit over salted. When I arrived, I requested soda as my drink and was told their machine was out of order. After about a half hour this was rectified and my drink request was fulfilled. The waitress was amazing!!!! She was very attentive and engaged in pleasant conversation. Over all this was a very good experience. My only issue was with the pricing of the menu items. I eat out frequently and felt these prices were just a little high. My over all bill without any alcohol or dessert just for myself came out to $90.00. I would probably not return just because of the cost."
