"Almost every time I travel to SFO, I make it a point to dine at Prospect. Great atmosphere (although a little loud for intimate conversation). The service was exceptional. The food amazing. It is one of my favorite spots when I travel to SFO. The experience is always memorable."

"Two of us had main plus dessert and everything was good, the fish entrees very good.

This a large space and so you are not as packed on as at most SF restaurants.

Overall a nice meal with good service in a slightly elegant setting"

"The food here is about as good as it gets. No complaints there. The service on the other hand was very uneven. My table was wiped several times and I received new utensils for each course, but the waiter seemed to be moving around the room pretty oblivious to his tables most of the time."

"I love this restaurant. There is so much care that goes into the food preparation, especially for me (I don't eat meat) the sauces for the fish. The service is always excellent, and the ambiance is upscale and energetic without being overly loud. Essentially every waiter / waitress that we've had here has been thoroughly professional and friendly."

"Good overall experience, and would have been improved based on some other areas:

Food: The food was the best part, which is good.
Service: Seemed confused at times, and brought the wrong dish to one guest.
Ambience: Lively, so you felt you were in for a dining experience. Possibly, too open, so privacy was difficult.
Noise: Given the number of patrons, it was difficult to hear everyone at the table."

"I ate here with my boss on a weeknight. The restaurant was pretty full, and it seemed like there were a lot of groups around us who "needed" a little extra special service. That said, we ordered a full meal, wine, etc., but it was nearly impossible to get the waiter's help- half an hour to get a glass of wine and order, another 45 minutes to get the appetiser. It would be nice to assume that they were just giving us time for conversation, but since we couldn't even get the first glass of wine (and, actually, the second glass was pretty difficult to extract as well), I don't think this was the case. Actually the worst service I've had in SF. The food was okay, but it's hard to feel like it's very special when the service is so mediocre."

"Beautifully prepared, imaginative food, all of it fresh and healthy. We love her restaurant Boulevard, so we decided to check out Prospect. The good news is that Prospect carries on the wonderful food tradition. Unlike Boulevard, which is a more romantic looking restaurant, Prospect is sleek and modern and the service was perhaps a bit less attentive. Still, this is a definite winner. The appetizers are exquisite; the desserts divine. And the entrees--we had the swordfish with sunchoke puree and the halibut with fresh peas--were perfectly cooked and the plating was lovely."

"Admittedly, I had high expectations from the Boulevard ladies, and I can't say I was disappointed but I wasn't wowed. The food had flair but was a little short on flavor, the wine (we consulted the sommelier) was drinkable but not delicious. There were four of us seated at a banquette table in the middle of the room and the noise level made it very difficult to share a conversation."

"We went to brunch and it was delicious. I had made a reservation but that was not necessary, as it was not that busy for a Sunday mid-morning. I highly recommend Prospect for brunch if you are looking to treat someone or to take your significant other or to take a date to. It's classy and upscale without the too ridiculous pricing."

"The front of the restaurant is elegantl. But this restaurant falls short of being a top tier restaurant. Our party of 4 sat in a booth midway back. It was exceptionally noisy and although foggy outside they had an air system running that was blasting cold air down on our table. The tableware was surprisingly unattractive, just kind of plopped down on a bare booth table that could have been a booth at House of Pancakes.. We had a 10 minute wait before our drink orders were taken and after ordering our waiter did not come back to check with us periodically. Although there was some interesting art on one wall and big windows on the other side, the design of the big room was like being in a vast bank lobby."

"The runner wasn't cognizant of which entree was requested medium versus medium rare, and set the wrong dish to each person. The waitress took forever after the main course was cleared, to bring the dessert menus, and then to take the dessert order.

Cocktails were fun and all yummy. Enjoyed the ravioli appetizer, and salads were fresh. Duck entree is usually a winner, though this time served on the cooler side. Strawberry dessert and Chocolate fudge cake were both winners! Presentation of dishes - beautiful."

"I have been to Prospect several times and have never been disappointed. My only surprise, albeit minor, was they changed the hard boiled egg appetizer. No more jalapeno and bacon. The replacement eggs were not bad, but did not live up to expectations and I was not savvy enough to ask if they had changed the eggs before ordering some for my east coast guest. The meal was great, the eggs were not bad, just disappointing."

"I had a dear friend visiting from out of town. We went out to Prospect and had a lovely evening.
The wine was superb, the appetizers were amazing, and everyone's main dish except for mine was great (it just wasn't as good as others at the table.) Dessert was okay and dessert wine was good. We would come back.

For appetizers we had the : Hawaiian Kampachi Crudo, California Burrata & Eva’s Heirloom Tomatoes, and Maine Lobster & Purple Asparagus
For main entrees we had the: Pork, Kobe and Ribeye
For dessert we had the: cheese plate, banana creme pie sundae and the strawberry surprise

Wine: Two Messengers Pinot Noir (delicious!)"

"Food and service were great. Our table location wasn't the best, near where servers come in and out. But the fantastic service and food made us forget that aspect pretty quickly.

Wine and cocktail list is extensive, including wines by the glass.

One of our dishes was the rib eye. Most places, regardless of price, when you order it medium rare, will deliver it closer to medium. Prospect got it just right.

Duck entree was also great. Portions were a good size, and the duck came deboned.

Appetizers and dessert were also great all around. Everything is well thought out.

Pricing is a bit high. But this time, it's worth it."

"Been here twice for brunch and the first time was just ok. I think they have expanded their menu so there is really something for everyone. The food was delicious but the service just so-so. I think the kitchen may have had some problems or they planned poorly for receiving a full dining room because food took forever to come out and no one made any comments about why this was, or apologies for that matter. We saw that everyone around us was not getting their food for a long time so this was not just an issue with our table of 6. I would go back anyway as the food was delicous"

"We went for a friend's special birthday and it was totally worth it. Four of us were seated in a very roomy booth. The food is spectacularly good, the service wonderful without being cloying, even the ice cubes in the cocktails were special (no kidding, they hardly melt). Two of us had a duck entree that was delicious, and the other two said the same about a fish dish. We ordered a dessert to share but knowing it was a birthday meal, the waiter presented us with an extra dessert. Wines are available at reasonable as well as super expensive, with a large selection of wines on tap."

"Food was good, but not very special. Swordfish was overdone, but sauces were tasty. I'd be more enthusiastic at half the price. Very expensive for what you get. Ambiance is kind of cold, sort of elegant, but too corporate-feeling. Won't return or recommend."

"Prospect was a fabulous experience. The staff was friendly and knowledgable. The food was phenomenal. The menu was different without being pretentious. I had the duck, my friend had the goat and they were both done to perfection. The brussel sprouts were AWESOME!! They are a bar menu item but they allowed us to order them as a side dish...YUM!!! I'd go back here in a heartbeat and would highly recommend it as well."

"The food was incredible, and the service was absolutely exceptional. The wine list, while not all-encompassing, was perfectly paired with the dishes. I can't stress this enough - go with the paired wines! Our server had some great suggestions that really made the dishes come to life."

"This is my favorite brunch place. The food is always spectacular (try the deviled eggs!)

The service is usually pretty good; unfortunately, this time, it was not. We were seated promptly, presented with menus, drink orders were taken and drinks arrived. Then:

- Way too long for them to come back and take food orders.
- Appetizers arrived in a reasonable amount of time, but WAY too long for next course to arrive.
- I ordered pig trotters, which include a fried duck egg. There was no fried duck egg. I didnt notice until I was half done, and pointed it out. The duck egg was brought out after I was finished (with free toast, which was nice). Still, it kind of ruined the dish.

I still recommend this place -- usually the service"

"Enjoyed a nice meal with the in-laws on my second visit here -- everything was done promptly & was very well executed. Bit disappointed to not find the quail on the menu this time (it was SO good last time I came here) but others in our party raved about the duck & my halibut was perfectly cooked. After having been in the wine country all day, everyone was back to hydration mode so we skipped the alcohol though the list is good here. However, I did sense a twinge of disdain from the server when we opted out of booze... Nevertheless, other staff kept our water carafe and glasses full. Dessert was delish as well -- loved the lemon sherbert!"

"As out of town visitors, we were looking for a good dining experience without loading up on huge amounts of rich food. Prospect demonstrated it is a quality restaurant ranking with the best by accommodating our requests. The server and chef were just great, and during a busy time. I'd go back in a minute. Plus, we were called the following day to ask how our experience was. Don't see that very often!"

"We sat at the big table right outside of the kitchen and being in the restaurant business I wasn't too bothered by the fact that I could see everything the Pastry Chef was preparing. By the way she is remarkably fast and clean and the kitchen looked spotless. THat being said the glaring light from the kitchen was anything but soothing and you really should try to do something to fix that , either with a curtain, a door or something. I know it only affects the two people facing the kitchen but boy is it a distraction!!!!
ALso the dungeness crab salad shouldn't even have the pnut brittle as a part of the description. The piece on top of mine was about as big as my pinky finger nail and I have small fingers. Great banana sundae dessert!"

"I'm actually a Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Student. I was really impressed with the decor and the layout of the restaurant.

When the food came out, I ordered a medium steak. I cut into it and had two pieces. The steak was cooked rare. The great thing about this was our server appeared right away and looked concerned and checked in an asked how the steak was. I don't mind eating a rare steak, but the fact that our server made the effort to check in a better experience.

I also noticed right before they brought out the dessert menu, our server crumbed the table, took away the s&p, and took away the bread / bread plates.

I really, that the dining room manager made himself visible by walking around."

"Beautiful space, but uneven food. The pork was billed to be "medium," but was disconcertingly rare. Mushy pork. Ick. The rhubarb and strawberry crepes were okay, not outstanding, and the crab salad was tasty, though a little bland. On the other hand, the beet salad was absolutely wonderful. You might think there is little left to be done in the creative realm with roasted beet salads, but this was a symphony of interesting tastes and textures. The server and sommelier were very good. I wish the food had been better overall."
