"SMOKE is one of the best jazz clubs in the City. Reminds one of the classic clubs of yesteryear. Great acoustics, always first rate musicians. It is a friendly atmoshere. Food is good and reasonably priced. We go there frequently to hear the music."

"Fun, intimate spot on Upper West Side. Definitely a find for a great combo of good food and music. Celebrated my daughter's 24th birthday with her at the club and staff was very attentative...birthday candle and all. Fried calamari was excellent and enjoyed my BBQ chicken. Will definitely return."

"service was terrible. waiter was obnoxious, did not smile, and seemed irritated anytime we would ask him for anything. it was way too loud - my ears were ringing for a good ear after the performance. we asked the waiter to be moved further, and although there were clearly seats open, he refused."

"This was my first trip to Smoke for Sunday brunch. The food and drinks are pricey, but good. And the music was the highlight of the day. Smoke was crowded, and it's tight, so it was a challenge for the waiter to provide top quality service. But two major issues: (1) people around us was talking too loud, and the waiter was taking orders DURING the performance. It was a major distraction. (2) the waiter took everyone's food orders around the same time, but many people were finishing their meals before my date and I received ours. The waiter comped us for the drinks and dessert (that was nice), but by that time our mood was a little sour. I would love to go back, but I hope the service improves."

"Very small club, with seating that borders on cramped. Tiny bandstand. The food is fine, the service is fine, but the main reason to venture up to 106th and Broadway is the great jazz. My evening was made when the great Ron Carter sat down next to me for his dinner, on his 76th birthday. What a treat."

This is a beautiful cozy lounge with OUTSTANDING MUSIC. If you want to get up close and personal with good musicians this is the place. Nice vibe in the crowd who supported the acts with enthusiasm. Drinks were very good. The host for the evening was EXTREMELY nice and helpful.

The portions a bit on the small side so if you are starving pre-game elsewhere. The service was the worst thing about the place. I waited almost 20 min for a drink (with a date), had to flag the waitress down for the second, and by the time the food came out she had disappeared completely and a waiter brought my third drink. I was not in a rush, so had the service been better I would have been 6 drinks deep rather than three (lol).

"Smoke is an important place for New York. It i preserving a classic Jazz club legacy and it's doing a good job of it. From the moment Michael the Maitre d' greets you you're treated very well. Food is above average for a jazz club as is the atmosphere. The music is always good and it really makes you marvel at the unbelievable talent in NY. Thanks Smoke for keeping Jazz alive in NY. The downside is that it is a little pricey but I chalk it up to preserving an art form."

"My husband and I go to the Smoke club every time we visit NYC.. This year we brought family with us. Allen Harris is an amazing jazz band!! The food, the service and the ambiance are impeccable!!! Its very intimate and a very energetic supper club!! We wished we could take the place back to Arizona with us!!!"

"TOO MANY PEOPLE SQUEEZED INTO A VERY SMALL AREA. THE HOST/MAITRE'D WAS VERY RUDE. WHEN WE RECONFIRMED OUR RESERVATION WE WERE TOLD TO ARRIVE EARLY AND WHEN WE DID ARRIVE WE WERE THEN TOLD THAT WE COULDN'T GET IN BECAUSE OF AN EARLIER PERFORMANCE. WE ENDED UP HAVING TO GO TO ANOTHER RESTAURANT TO KILL TIME UNTIL WE COULD GET IN TO SMOKE'S. ALSO, THE ROOM WAS OVERCROWDED WITH TABLES 6" APART AND THE BAR AREA WAS PACKED! MY FIRST REACTION WAS THAT IF A FIRE SHOULD BREAK OUT WE WOULD ALL BURN TO DEATH!!"

"I came here to see the great Frank Wess and was not disappointed. However, the most notable thing about Smoke, as opposed to other clubs, is the food. The entire menu is well planned and delicious every time. The restaurant stands on its own. The short ribs are not to be missed! Combine great jazz with great food and a friendly and attentive staff and you have a fun night ahead! I highly recommend Smoke."
