Academe at The Kennebunk Inn showcases the culinary creativity and execution of Chef-owners and Culinary Institute of America graduates, Brian and Shanna O'Hea. This year Academe's Lobster Pot Pie was featured on the Food Network show "Best Thing I Ever Ate," nominated by celebrity chef Cat Cora. Since acquiring the historic inn located in the heart of Kennebunk village in 2003, the O'Heas have dramatically altered the look, the feel and, most importantly, the tastes awaiting patrons of The Inn's restaurant. From first course options to entree and dessert offerings, Academe promises an uncommon yet accessible dining experience drawn from the seasonal bounty of the land and sea.

"I went in for the lobster roll (which was $24 in the online menu) but the price inside was $30. Rip off. So I had the Lobster Pot Pie for $24. Bigger rip off. It ws spilled all over the plate / napkin that they had folded under the 'pot'. There was very little lobster. The service wasnt great - my soda ran empty and remained that way. The atmosphere was nice, and the dinner rolls were good."

"Went for the famed Lobster Pot Pie. It was good but definitely not the best thing I've ever eaten. We also got the chicken croquettes which were quite good. The beef pot roast braised in beer had too much of a beer taste. It was really all you could taste. The backwards root beer float was fun. I didn't like the vanilla soda too much but the root beer ice cream was great. Service was super slow. Having a window seat was great but the sun setting was pretty awful having the sun in our eyes."

"The food was good but not great. The lobster pot pie is tasty but not nearly as tasty as hyped. Two of us had the Arctic char. One was cooked perfectly and one was undercooked. Dinner on a Saturday night wasn't what I had hoped for, considering the $160 bill (plus tip) for three of us."

"I have never enjoyed a brussels sprout in my life, but i now crave the ones we had at your restaurant. I loved the cocktails, the appetizer, the chicken was delicious, and i was sad to see my sweet potato soufflé go. I will be thinking about the wonderful dinner i had until i am able to go back again."
