"We had great service both for our dinning and our after canal walk drinks and dessert. We were seated promptly and even given our choice of seats. Our daughter loved to outdoor seating and the view. Everyone was friendly. We talked with other dinners seated around us. It has a very casual atmosphere. Our server was kind, patient w/our daughter, very efficient, and anticipated our needs. The food was very good and served quickly.

When we returned, our server saw us coming and rushed forward to seat us once again in her section. She remember our drink orders from before and made a few dessert suggestions for our daughter. Even as the evening drew to a close we were never pressured to hurry up and leave.

Sunday brunch is next!"

"We've eaten here several times over the last five years or so. We like to sit outside when possible -- the pretty view and the location are probably what keep bringing us back. Each time we go, it's "just OK". One time, the service will be terrible. Another time, the food order will be mixed up. Another time, it will take a ridiculous amount of time to get food. This time, the food itself was mediocre. The cuban sandwich was very dry, the "grown up mac and cheese" was extremely bland (except for the very good bacon), and someone's salad was disappointing. I'm sure I will probably be back again for one reason or another, but I'm always kind of disappointed. They just keep missing the mark."

"I love Creation Cafe but have to say I was disappointed with the food. The cuban was very tasteless. The fried bologna which a friend ordered "you were out". It just was not it's usual outstanding flavors! I left my credit card and I would have thought that someone would of called me. I had booked my reservation through Open Table so you had my phone # and name? Waking up the next day in a total panic when I looked for my card was quite the experience. I do have to say you had it when I called and I was able to pick it up."

"The food here is great - I haven't tried anything I didn't like. Our food got out to our table within 5-10 minutes after ordering. Our party all got different menu items and split them. I got the Girly Wedge - it was delicious! I also tried a couple of the beer floats - also excellent. The only thing I have to complain about is the time I had to wait (and observed every other guest who came in after me) to be served. The two times I've been here it's taken at least 3 minutes to be acknowledged - even though there always appears to be a multitude of servers running around in a nearly empty restaurant."

"Our evening at Creation Cafe was very enjoyable. It was a birthday dinner, so we requested to dine on the deck. We were warned on the Open Table reservation that this is a popular request & there might be a delay or we might not be able to sit on the deck. We arrived and were seated immediately at our reserved spot on the deck, so we were pleased. The setting on the deck over looking the canal and the Indy skyline is wonderful. Our server stopped by the table almost immediately to greet us and was very attentive throughout the evening. The menu had changed since we were last here and has become more limited. Our dinner were good, but not outstanding. Overall all, we went for the outdoor dining & view, so it was an enjoyable evening."

"They changed the menu, which is not as good. But the service at this place is terrible. I don't know why they would purposely run off customers, but that is what it seems they are doing. We had a 7 top. All the food was prepared poorly. The waiter was rude, and built in his own 20% gratuity. We are sad to say that we will never eat here again, and it used to be a favorite lunch spot."

"This was such a great place to go for date night. But, it's a great place for families, friends, whatever to gather together for a fantastic evening. Both the inside and the outside dining areas are roomy and interesting. The food is great (fresh and local) along with the local beer selection, this is a great place for people to hang out, enjoy the Canal, and eat some great food."

"This used to be such a great place. However, we noticed that the interior smelled of musty mop water and the food...terrible. The fries were overly salted. The quinoa was soaked vinegar and tasted soapy (what you get when you don't rinse this grain). The falafels were kind of chalky with a bad aftertaste.

Gone was the edamame and other delicious dishes from just last year.

Skip this restaurant...until they change the menu and post an apology."

"3rd time to Creative Cafe and each experience is a bit underwhelming from a service standpoint....but the food and location keep us coming back hoping for a better experience. Food is limited in selection but the quality is always very , very good. Excellent dish presentations which is a stark contrast to the bare bones service. Pretty slow responsiveness and very casual about customer communication. But the location is cool on the Indianapolis Canal and the food has always been excellent."

"The best thing about Creation Cafe is eating out on the patio on a beautiful day. You can also bring your dog, which is fun. Afterward, you can take a nice stroll on the canal.

Unfortunately, the food is only average. There isn't a lot of choice as the menu is pretty small. That's usually okay, but the option are still pretty limited. The burgers are incredibly messy, and pretty boring. I missed the blue cheese burger. When the menu isn't boring, it's all over the place. Falafel, crab cakes, and pulled pork on the same menu? Weird.

Our serve was very friendly and did a great job.

Basically, this is where you go on a nice sunny day to eat outside and not spend too much. The food isn't why you visit, even though it USED to be."

"I was hoping to fall in love with and book this venue for my son's wedding reception. I booked the reservations on Mother's Day to see how the venue handled large groups. Mostly open tables upon arrival;10 minute wait to be seated in spite of confirmed reservation. Seating tight, but adequate. Server nice, but too long to great us, didn't refill our drinks, and had to ask for check. The buffet line offered several choices, but, many of the trays were empty (salmon, potatoes, etc) or old. The salads were creative and good. The chicken we were served was extraordinarily dry. The desserts were delicious and plentiful.
Needless to say, I did not book, this venue for our upcoming wedding. So disappointed with this experience."

"Took my family from out of town here for a mid week lunch. Really amazing food. No complaints! Traditional dishes for the not so daring and unique foodie offerings for those wanting something different. Environment was very fun and vibrant, loved the canvas painted tables- all different. I didn't get a chance to sit on the patio but it overlooks the canal and I can't wait to go back so I can!"

"It was great to eat outside. It had just rained so the waitress was kind in wiping our chairs dry. We received our drinks right away but it seemed to take an extra long time to get our food. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was good but the cole slaw tasted awful. My friend's meals were good and they were both pleased. It was nice that when we were done eating that they allowed us to stay and talk and didn't make us feel like we had to leave. The staff was very courteous and nice. I will definitely eat here again."

"I took my wife for Mother's Day Brunch and we were served coffee which was included the brunch price of 30 dollars each person. We added Bloody Mary and Bellini to the table. We had a great time but the server was little busy due to the special occasion. Food on the bar were good, from salad, vegetables, proteins and desserst. We were stuffed when we stepped out of the restaurant."

"My wife and I have always wanted to try out Creation Cafe, so I surprised her with the Mother's Day brunch. Despite advertising a 10AM open, food was not available until 10:45. Servers tended to congregate and have personal conversations through out our visit. Normally this place is a sit down restaurant, so customer traffic would not be an issue, but with a buffet brunch, these clusters of servers often impeded customer flow. At times I even saw management-looking staff involved, including once where I overheard the "manager" talking about how late he was out the night before partying and how hung over he felt. This did not give a great impression.

The food was OK, nothing special or outstanding.

Our server was slow and unresponsive."

"We were very disappointed in the Mother's Day brunch. We went expecting to order off the menu, but found we were forced to partake in a $30/head buffet that wasn't any better than something you would get at a much lower rated restaurant. Nothing was mentioned when we called the restaurant the day before to tell us they weren't going to be offering their regular menu items. We went specifically because we like their menu. Wouldn't recommend this for a Mother's day or special occasion day!"

"This was our first time eating at Creation Cafe. We had seen it before when walking on the canal and had been wanting to try it out. We went for a late breakfast/brunch on a Saturday morning. I had looked at their menu on-line prior to going. The menu on-line and the menu they handed out were completely different. There were only a handful of breakfast type foods on their menu. That was pretty disappointing. The food was decent, but with such limited options we will certainly not be back for breakfast again."

"Creation Cafe has changed. In the past, we have enjoyed dining at Creation Cafe. We were extremely disappointed with our recent dining experience. We became a little concerned when we first sat down and noticed the menu had been greatly reduced and many of our favorites were now missing. The service was very slow even though the patio wasn't full. It took a very long time to get our food and was told the kitchen was having a difficult time getting the food out. We has to ask for water refills, silverware, and also drinks. When the food finally arrived we were not impressed. I have no idea if there is new ownership or management but something has changed. Our whole experience was awful. We will not be returning."

"We love Creation and have been going there for years, things seem to be changing. The menu has shrunk and does not seem as creative.Our food sat at the pass through window for at least 10 min we could see it, and the staff seemed very confused. One of our party had to send her meal back bc it was cold. I ordered my cuban with no cheese and light on mayo and it was prepared exactly as I asked. On Friday people were waiting at the hostess desk for long periods of time. We were surprised they waited. There was one waitress that has been at Creation for a long time working on Friday. She seemed to be trying to do it all from wait her tables, to cleaning tables, to seating guests. We will go back but we wonder if it has changed ownership?"

"The room is colorful; with a kind of bohemian vibe. My server seemed in a hurry, so I quickly ordered. I had the Grown Up Grilled Cheese. Once it finally arrived, the bacon had been barely threatened with heat -- it was almost raw. I couldn't eat it. My server had disappeared completely. Some guy was walking around, but I wasn't sure if he was a manager or just lost. Eventually, my server reappeard with my check. I just paid and left. Overall, not a great experience. I don't think I'll be back."

"After one hour, our guests from out of state, who had a reservation, did not get lunch and had to leave without eating lunch. Our guests said the staff did not make contact with them - they were finally told that the menu had been changed that day and the chef couldn't keep up."

"We have loved the vibe and food for many years. This visit was on a slow Tuesday but the pace of ordering and delivery of food was slower and the menu seemed odd. They have a new chef and he is trying out some new menu items. My wife liked her salad. Our friend liked her soup/sandwich. But my order of a new item of plantain/pork sliders was really bland & tasteless. Our waiter encouraged me to choose a side but when the food arrived, told me my order did not include a side. They did deliver a carafe of soft drink which saved further attention by our waiter and having a carafe is a feature I love. We'll be back, but am concerned that they fixed something that wasn't broken."

"We took the family (8 people) here for Easter brunch for the second year. For $30 per person the value of the buffet didn't even come close to that. The food was standard fare with no extras and the quality was extremely poor (such as mushy shrimp). They ran out of the most popular items before we arrived and never refilled them over the hour and a half we were there. There will not be a third year."

"We had the best server, Andrew. Even though they were out of the crabcakes (that I ordered), Andrew made a great suggestion for a delicious pasta dish. My Red Hat group had a lovely meal and we were never hurried. I do think that the wine list is slightly overpriced (I've paid $2.00 - $3.00 less for the same wine other places). Desserts are always amazing. I wish they had an agreement with one of the parking lots as I hate trying to find street parking!

We will return when summer arrives so we can sit outside and enjoy the view!"

"Food was a good value, waitress gave decent service. Entree took forever! Considering that this was a special dinner with four set entrees, There was no excuse for the length of time we sat and sat and sat. I gave special directions on our reservation that I wanted no pork products served at my table, my wifes appetizer was delivered smothered in bacon. So don't bother with the section "special requests" on your reservation, they will just ignore you. All in all, I was not surprised by my first visit, not pleasantly or otherwise. It was exactly as other reviews stated, good food, decent service, nice atmosphere, slooowww kitchen. So plan ahead, give yourself LOTS of time, (bring a book to read) and enjoy."

"We went on Valentine's Day for a special occasion dinner in the upstairs Euphoria restaurant. We were really excited to go because Creation Cafe usually has good food at lunch time when we have been previously. Tonight however, they were obviously having big issues within their kitchen staffing. Our reservation was at 7:30 and we arrived right on time and were seated within 10 minutes - no biggee. After we placed our order, we received the appetizers within a reasonable amount of time, maybe 15 minutes. Then we never received our entrees and decided to leave at 9 pm and go home hungry :(. We looked around and saw tables full of couples with no food and decided leftovers at home would come faster than our dinner. What a shame!"
