The Peacock Inn – which was named "Restaurant Of The Year" by the Star-Ledger newspaper – offers guests an elegant and exceptional dining experience. Attentive service, chic décor, and the contemporary approach to Chef Manuel Perez’s “New American” cuisine, make The Peacock Inn the perfect choice for a romantic evening, business dinner, or special occasion. The intimate dining rooms blend elegance, comfort, and sophistication. The walls showcase prized artwork, murals, and menus from the 1930’s, some of which were discovered behind cement walls in the basement of this historic building. Spend some time in the contemporary bar at The Peacock Inn while enjoying small plates prepared by Chef Perez while sipping your favorite cocktail or a choice wine. The restaurant is open for dinner seven days a week and Sunday Brunch.
"Excellent food from start to finish. Quiet ambience. Good for a business meeting or a romantic dining experience. Wine list superb. Quite the dining experience. Would recommend this restaurant very highly."

"The Peacock Inn positions itself in the top tier of restaurants but doesn't live up to its peers. There was nothing horrible about the food or the service - it just isn't anything special. The entrees were bland and one side dish was extremely salty. The service was fine if you think that a 3 course meal in this type of restaurant should take an hour - we were in and out in 1:15. The staff were polite and friendly (and obviously over-efficient) but with this type of dining the meal should be an event, not a race. While the place itself is very nicethey need to enforce some level of dress code. I'm not supportive of jackets and ties but do you want to spend $100+ per head to eat next to people in T-shirts?"

"I had not been to the Peacock Inn since it's renovation and am so happy I finally went. It's a fabuolous restaurant - they started an a la carte menu the beginning of May and had excellent choices. The food was superb - beautifully prepared and elegantly presented. There wasn't anything I didn't like. Service was attentive and extremely courteous. The entire staff there was very friendly and hospitable. It's definitely a place to go if you like fine dining - what a local gem!"

"I ordered flowers which were on the table when we arrived. The wait staff immediately picked on on the special occasion (birthday). Very attentive staff. Dessert had an ornate Happy Birthday in chocolate calligraphy around the serving plate. Special time for us was made even better by a quiet, engaged staff. The food was first rate, the wine pairings were well done, and the ambience was just right."

"I must say the Peacock Inn was wonderful. I went here with my boy friend and one of my best friends. Usually we have huge portions for our huge appetites; however, the food was filling. First off 2 course brunch Pre Fixe for $30 isnt bad at all.
I got: Beat salad- Very small portion but very yummy Gnocchi- Wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was very delicious. -- I enjoyed my beat salad more than the Gnocchi. However, both very well made. Onion Soup- VERY GOOD. It's very unexpected and different but i loved it. Steak and Eggs- Steak was prepared well but the eggs and potatos had no seasoning. I mean at least put salt and pepper. If only there was at least salt and pepper, I'd be happier. Kinda Disappointed. French Toast- yum"

"Overall, very nice experience. Food is carefully prepared (sometimes too sweet, works for some dishes), service attentive, nice homey atmosphere, tables nicely spaced.
We would prefer other options (other than just pre-fix menus). Will surely come back."

"We had Easter dinner with a special price fixed 4 course menu. There were several choices for each course, so even my teenager found something he liked. All of the food was exceptional, for both taste and presentation. Portions were not huge, but with 4 courses, an amuse-bouche and after dessert sweet, we were pleasantly full. The staff was attentive and prompt. Would highly recommend."

"My problem with The Peacock Inn was that although they deserve an "A" for effort, every dish was completely over-produced. They added unnecessary sauces and extras to perfectly fresh and well cooked food so that their "style" overpowered the main attraction. Most of these sauces, dressings and extras were very sweet and this made no sense to me at all. They should heed the motto "Less is More"."

"Since its refurbished reopening a few years back this is one of tne of the top tables in the Princeton area. Currently the menu is all prix fixe, either 4- or 6-course, though you can order a la carte at the bar. Some standout appetizers are hamachi with jicama and a blood-orange drizzle, onion soup creamy as a bisque, and gnocchi paired with asparagus and mushrooms. On the other hand the butternut squash risotto was more underdone than al dente with little squash flavor. For entrees there are a lot of good fish dishes, especially salmon en croute, but bring back the crispy pork belly that used to be the signature dish here! Service still displays some long gaps in between the various courses."

"The food ranged from good to outstanding. The chef clearly knows what he is doing. Too bad the service did not match the quality of the food. The waitress was pleasant, but hardly ever there and it was difficult to get her attention. We checked with a someone when we could not get her, and he was downright surly. How hard is good customer service, especially when you have a product as good as the chef produces. I hope the manager takes note of this."

"Just go! Everything from the amuse bouche to the dessert (get the sticky toffee date cake!) was amazing. We did the 4-course because it seemed to have more choices than the 6-course and our favorites were the gnocchi, the risotto, the lobster and the filet."

"I am seriously considering going to Princeton for grad school (this would be my 3d grad degree) just to eat at the Peacock. Do not wuss out on the 4course like I did. Go for 6. Everything is heartbreaking in gorgeous prep and transporting flavor. And the menu is liberal with the alternameats, if you like that ( and I do). Service is warm and wise. Just go."

"The food was outstanding, the service very good, and the ambiance quiet and inviting. This restaurant is very very expensive. The only choice was between two prix fixe menus, expensive (4 course) and more expensive (6 course). This is a place for special occasions. Note - We are from Washington DC. Perhaps New Yorkers pay these prices every night. The evening was most enjoyable and the food was really really good."

This is not an inexpensive experience. However, when you pay good money, you want everything to be perfect and the Peacock Inn delivers!!!"

"My wife and I dined here for Valentine's Day. The menu was the same, just $20 higher in price than normal which was fine. Normally we like to do Manhattan or Philly for special occassions, but I worked hard to find a great restaurant in central NJ. This was a perfect choice. The bar was packed and service was quick, drinks were amazing. The food offerings and quality were absolutely top notch and the service was impeccable. The one and only negative I could express was the "modern" style of this restaurant left something to be desired. We love modern, but I was left feeling like the walls were barren rather than modern. At any rate, we will dine here again for sure as everything else was totally 5 star."

"We went here for the second time for a birthday celebration. The food is outstanding, as is the service. It is very romantic. We just love going here for special occasions. Becuase we told them ahead of time it was a birthday celebration, when dessert was brought out the plate had written "Happy Birthday" in chocolate on it. They go out of their way to treat you well and see to your every need. We will be going back."

"After reading all the reviews, I had very high expectations for this restaurant. What a let down.Ordered the 4 course tasting menu with wine pairing.
Yellowfin Tuna Tartare- room tempertaure borderline warm. Needed some acid. Barely enough sauce on the plate to help.
Butternut squash risotto-Consistency was like soup with floating pieces of arborio rice. I expect my risotto to be creamy and hearty with a bite.
Filet M-Cooked great on the inside. However the outside was completely charred to the point the top 3mm layer of the meat was grey from overcooking. Potatoes were so salty-inedible.
Dessert was great-had ricotta and personalized saying happy anniversary which was a nice touch.
would not come back based on food."
