"We had booked a table for four, but our companions were unable to join us. The hostess was preparing to sit us a nice booth, when the manager who seemed somewhat stressed intevened and directed us to the third floor where we were placed at a two top. We took the two top and were well attended to by the staff. I ordered Oysters Rockefeller and found them to be just an average preparation. My partner had a salad and it was fine. The steaks were great and prepared to our liking. During this time the manager must have self recognized her earlier actions and then became very friendly and accomodating. She even "comp-ed" our desert and coffee. So all in all the evening didnt turn out to bad. I will go back, but need some healing time first."

"The service was outstanding- each and every plate came out at just the right time and a server was never too far. My husband had the fried lobster and really enjoyed it. My filet mignon was cooked exactly as I had asked , and my server recommended a wonderful glass of red to go with it after I explained what I did and did not like in a wine. I would HIGHLY recommend Oak Steakhouse for a special occasion or to treat yourself. If your worried about price, wait for Charleston Restaurant Week or just indulge because the experience will be well worth it!"

"My wife and I were celebrating her birthday. We arrived on time and were immediately seated at a nice booth by the front window. (no having to wait at the bar for our table). Service was attentive but not intrusive. Waiter was knowledgeable and helpful with wine selection. We both had steaks and they were done perfectly. This is what a good restaurant is all about. Would definitely return and would recommend this restaurant for its service and meal quality."

"The food was delicious and our server (Herbert) was wonderful. So wonderful I would recommend asking for him. My dad never vacations, it was his birthday and my husband had a work trip in Charleston and somehow we talked him into going. I asked for booth seating (cause thats what he likes)and they did it. I told them it was his birthday and they picked up our desserts! Our server was very informative and those little annoying requests (most of us have) he accommodated happily, took our picture, kept waters full, drinks coming and made sure all was well! IF everything was terrible (like the night before at Magnolias) a servers attitude can push an experience over/under. Thanks for making my dads bday awesome!"

"Honestly, the past few times I've been to Oak were much better. The first two glasses of wine we had were total misses-- tasted cheap and, pro-tip, when you describe a wine as "crisp" please try not to confuse that with "so sweet you now have cavities." The fillet was phenomenal, as was the bacon mac n cheese, but the lobster and asparagus were just so/so. The asparagus used to be my favorite-- steaky, smoky, and completely transformed from your average asparagus with butter. Server was just the right amount of attentive, polite, and informative; however, his wine recommendations fell short."

"My wife and I treated ourselves on our last night of a Charleston vacation. We were not disappointed. Location was nice. Food and wine was excellent. Service was outstanding. If you do not enjoy the beef here you do not like beef! If we were forced to find something less than expected it would be the noise level- could have been a little quieter. Would not hesitate to recommend this establishment."

"Nice dinner. Great cut of NY Strip! The aged strip requires a special taste tho, it's very nutty. The manager there is super awesome and really wants to earn your business and have you come back again. We will definitely be back!"

"We had the rib-eye and the fried lobster. The steak was excellent. The fried lobster was dry. We would not order it if we were to visit again.
The staff was extremely attentive. Our first table was in a very loud section, but we were moved up to the third floor and it was lovely (the wall murals are beautiful). The manager came over a number of times to check on us.
Our waiter was helpful. At the end of the meal, I requested tea, and he only brought out one option (I think an Indian Spice blend). I asked for a decaffeinated option, and they brought me Citrus Chamomile, but I would suggest that it would be nice for several tea options to have been offered when the tea was first brought out.
Overall, a very good experience."

"Went here for my 60th birthday and it did not disappoint at all! Based on other reviews I requested the table overlooking the stairwell, which was private and quiet. Felt like we were the only ones being served. Our salads were fresh, delicious and ample. My 16 oz ribeye was done to perfection, the lobster mac and cheese and the brussel sprouts were superb and enough to share with my wife. The service was impeccable. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about both food and wine, and we were each served our choice of any dessert free because of the special occasion. It was a very memorable and enjoyable special birthday dinner!"

"Excellent food and great service. Everything from salad, to main course, to dessert was absolutely delicious! Steaks are their specialty and the steak was perfectly prepared; however, my favorite dish was that day's fish selection. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the food and wine and made excellent suggestions.
One of our entrees was incorrect. The maitre de immediately apologized and ensured that we received the correct entree within minutes.
This is now one of our favorite restaurants in Charleston and we'll definitely return."

"I really wanted to like the Oak Steakhouse, as the staff were very friendly and the setting was lovely. But I'm afraid that the food was way short of a high end steakhouse. I ordered the special dry aged strip steak, which was extremely expensive (price not listed on the menu). The steak was tough and had a couple of veins running through it making parts of it inedible. Plus, having ordered it medium, it arrived much closer to rare and I had to send it back to be cooked some more. Lastly, it actually was not hot when it originally arrived. I am likely to try to give them one more try and hope that this was an exception, but if the next experience is consistent, that will be the last time. It is a nice bar, however, to have a drink at"

"Everything about Oak is wonderful. The wait staff work as a team and the attention is just right. Without always being at the table they are there when desired. Gave good guidance on the menu but even the warning did not prepare us for the portion size. One does not leave hungry. As one would expect, steaks are perfect, both came properly done.
Wonderful food in a very comfortable environment. The manager checked in numerous times to verify all was going well.
Highly recommended."

"Everyone at my table thought their steaks were outstanding. I had the dry aged rib eye and was disappointed. Very salty for my tastes. However, as a group they would out vote me and go again. Both gentlemen had the filets and thought they were super. Also, when one of my party mentioned my comments about the salt to the GM, she was concerned and noted in their computer not to salt my meat in the future."

"Oak Steakhouse is a very attractive restaurant with an energetic vibe on the first floor and nice quieter tables on the upper floors. We were celebrating a birthday and the hostess was vey observant and greeted us with a "Happy Birthday" as we checked in. We were seated promptly and the attention received initially was great. Appetizers came quickly and were delicious, but it was then that it went downhill a bit. The wait between appetizer and entree was considerable and my chilled glass of wine was lukewarm by the time the main course arrived. The lamb chops were just so-so, though the carved tenderloin was quite good. Although our waited came immediately to ask "How do they look?" He never returned to ask about tast!"

"Upon arival we were seated promptly which was very nice! As we were escorted to the third floor I noticed the room was quite warm and made mention. We sat for a romantic dinner which was lost as were seated next to a party of 20 that was having a "great time" and an air temperature of 78 degrees. I was drinking mineral water which was filled three times with tap water and had to be changed out. The meal was quite good but not exceptional as expected. My wife said to me "I would have prefered a filet cooked by you". We spent $300 dollars on dinner that night (two people) for a meal with a $150 value. I would recommend the Ocean Room at Kiawah!"

"There is absolutely nothing about The Oak that anyone should be able to complain about! The hostesses and the waitstaff are extremely helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant. The wine list is extensive and very thoughtfully put together. The steaks are prepared correctly, are very tasteful and well presented. Finish your evening at the main floor bar, with a cocktail mixed by a friendly, pleasing and accomplished "mixologist" and you will have had an evening you will be telling your friends about for some time to come."
