"Went to this restaurant because of the reviews. Was so happy with our choice. They made sure we were in and out for the theater and the food was terrific would go again!"

"I've been going to this restaurant for the 20=25 years... it's still friendsly and attractive (if noisy) but the quality of the food seems to be suffering. It's still good enough, but not very good. Perfect if you're going to The Town Hall."

"An excellent Italian restaurant right in the heart of Times Square with character, great food and top service. What makes it a real find is that you can also carry on a conversation over dinner which is a rarity in the bustling touristy Times Square area. Had the perfect dinner here with business colleagues"

"I work in the area and have been to the restaurant a number of times for both lunch and dinner. The service is excellent, the ambiance comfortable and the crowd energetic. An excellent place for a business lunch or pre-theater meal."

"Times Square can easily be called a barren wasteland for good, quality food. Osteria al Doge is the exception. Good service and vibe pair with great, quality food at this gem, and is reasonably priced for an upscale restaurant."

"Went recently prior our "Lucky guy" play at 7 pm . We were pressed for time. The waiter was very professional and did what we requested in a courteous manner. Food was reasonable- we have eaten here several times, including lunch with kids- loved it!!"

"This is my 'go-to' place to meet friends or customers in mid-town Manhattan. The food (Italian) is good, the service attentive and the atmosphere quite pleasant (especially after the pre-theatre crowd leaves)."

"been here several times. not sure why the host put us upstairs at a not so good table when there were empty tables on first floor and by banister. food was good, but our waitress was not. she was very difficult to understand because of her accent and disappeared for periods at a time. had to ask for coffee 2x. food was very good though."

"We have been to Osteria al Doge many times. This time we were not as happy with the service. The waiter questioned my husband's wine choice, probably because it was less than he wanted us to spend. Then we were rushed. Our main course came before we had finished our salads and was just plunked down next to our salad. We were there early but still felt that they wanted us to move out faster. I understand wanting to fill tables but there were open tables most of the time we were there and then a big push for us to leave before we were ready. We will probably choose another option for pre-theater dinner."

"Theater District restaurants can be crowded, loud and mediocre and overpriced, but not Osteria al Doge. Not to say it isn't crowded and loud pre-theater, but the food and service are outstanding! And there is an upstairs which is quieter. And the prices are average, (not outrageous), for the theater district. I'm so glad I found this restaurant. Four of us were going to the theater - two members of the party were elderly; one was handicapped. The staff was so accomodating. It can be hard to find a great restaurant that's somewhat reasonable in the mid-40s - where all the theaters are. This was a wonderful find. I will definitely return."

"Great experience. Staff was welcoming, attentive, and helpful. Ravioli, as many helpers have commented, was excellent. Good wine selection. We had a very enjoyable, non-rushed dinner and made our show in plenty of time. (Booked 6:15 dinner for 8 pm show 5 blocks away)."

"This is and has been for many years my favorite theater restaurant. I have been dining here since it opened and have never had a bad meal. If you have theater tickets, you can be sure you will get there. It is also a great restaurant after the theater crowd has gone. They continually update the menu so you will never get bored. I have recommended it to so many friends who have discovered it and agreed with my recommendation."

"The food reccomended was excellent and if you are headed to a show in the Theatre District, this is a great place to go with a small group of friends. I went by myself and was seated at the bar immediately with great service. It does get a bit noisy around 6pm."

"This venue was very comfortable and pleasant, our waitress was totally charming and provided good service, and the location was good for my group. Food was very good, especially the antipasto, but I am very strict and cannot say it was excellent."

"A nice Italian place if you are in Times Square. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The wine and appetizers were a little over priced. I guess you are paying for the convenience of time square. The main course was priced fairly."

"Beautifully appointed restaurant with subtly-themed European circus decor. Lovely menu that included creative specials and a seasonal "tasting" option. Our two grandchildren (age 8) were given tiny plastic monkeys to play with while waiting for their meals. Nice touch! My wife enjoyed her prix-fixe dinner of zuppa and salmone, and I had the delicious gamberoni pietrasanta. The children shared an order of pasta with butter and cheese and beautifully grilled chicken paillards. All dishes were beautifully presented."

"Enjoyed the food, and recommend the spinach ravioli in sage butter sauce...it's excellent! If you have any room, the lemon tart is a delicious finish for sharing."

"Have gone here many times and had a great before theater dinner experience. This time three of the four dishes we ordered had problems. Special lemon chicken was distinctly non lemony, pasta was super salty. We were in a bit of a time crunch, so even though they offered more sauce for the lemon chicken we declined. Very disappointed,"

"I was there with two friends and it went very well. On e of my dining companions did not care for her soup, but the server was very gracious and took it back and off the bill. The rosemary focaccia did not have much rosemary in it this time, as compared with previous visits. My spinach and ricotta ravioli was delicious, however, and our overall experience was quite positive."

"We went to dinner at Osteria al Doge before our 8pm show. The atmosphere is warm and charming, the food is very good but not special. I would characterize it as an excellent, reasonably priced place to go pre-theater. We sat down at 5:30 and the restaurant quickly filled. The staff was friendly and attentive. The antipasto plate we shared was excellent. The caesar salad as well as the chicken entree were average. The fish and steak were excellent. We didn't leave room for dessert but the dessert tray they showed us was tempting! Would go back."

"Great business lunch here. A little tight on space and loud but that's fairly typical in NYC. Nice waitress and service. Everyone thought the fish was outstanding and I had an octopus appetizer that was extremely tasty. Killer bread."

"This is still a good theater district pick but, on our most recent visit, several dishes did not measure up to previous experience...specifically the tuna appetizer and the jumbo shrimp entrée.Salmon and desserts were very good though."

"Went for an early dinner on a Tuesday evening prior to seeing a Broadway show. Glad I made a reservation. Very busy at that hour. Can be a little crowded sitting downstairs but there are additional small tables upstairs. Food was excellent. Wine list by the glass was adequate. Enjoyed a nice Valpolicella. Highly recommend it."
