In Paris, the café serves as the center for social interaction. It’s a place where writers, artists, businessmen, and people of all stripes congregate-- to talk, entertain each other, or simply pass the time while enjoying a basic meal, tea, or coffee. In the same tradition, the American tavern serves as the location for the interchange of news and opinions among townspeople, for the sale of solacing liquors, or perhaps for the incidental sociability. Westport Café & Bar is where Parisian café meets classic American Tavern.
Westport Café & Bar offers an American menu with classic French inspiration and preparations. Simple, quality ingredients are braised, grilled, poached, confit, or cured in the same old-world technique that has been practiced by the masters for years. Filet of branzino a la mueniere, pommes frites, sauce béarnaise, roasted chicken grand mere, sauce béchamel, croque monsieur, salads nicoise and lyonnaise.
We look forward to your visit.

"I've eaten at WC&B before and have always enjoyed it so I took my mom to brunch for a special occasion. I love brunch, and there are several places in KC known for brunch- I was expecting WC&B's brunch to be just as tasty as their happy hour & dinner menu. There were options but overall it was not that delicious or diverse of a menu. I appreciated the drink inclusion with the meal but I've had better brunch at other midtown restaurants."

"Westport Cafe is a favorite of mine for brunch in the city. Our reservation this last weekend must have been an off day for them. My favorite dish is their Salmon eggs benedict. So most of my group ordered this plate. Sadly almost all the eggs where cooked through, not runny in the middle like they are suppose to be and this really affected the dish. The dish also came out a little cool. I hope this was just a single time occurrence, this place usually is pretty spot on with their eggs beni."

"The restaurant was very flexible with our large group. They accommodated separate checks and the server was very calm and competent. Steak frites and all the desserts were tasty!"

"Adorable cafe, food was interesting, although limited if you are vegetarian and nothing for vegans. Fresh pea ravioli app was lovely and sized as a small plate main course. Beet salad was fresh and delicious.
Servers were sullen so don't expect a particularly cheerful atmosphere or even much interaction about the menu. Bartender was very helpful, welcoming, and friendly."

"I LOVED the mussels here. However, do not order the spaetzle if you like traditional spaetzle. These are fried and are served on top of a ton of oil and seasoning gathered in the bottom of the plate. I ate two bites and could not get myself to take in anymore."

"Food very good. Waitress was wonderful, very attentive, and very helpful in splitting our checks. I would rethink the baked beans in the English breakfast entries. Everything else was very good. Thank you for a very pleasant time."

"My wife and I always enjoy the WBC and this trip was no exception. We got a great table towards the front and got great service from Meghan. We shared the mussels with fennel and tomato sauce. The mussels are always very good and it is a difficult decision on which sauce to choose. I had a chicken sandwich and my wife enjoyed one of her favorites, the soup and salad. Very enjoyable experience."

"It had been a while since I had been here. There are so many interesting choices to make, the only difficulty was deciding. Being unconventional seemed the right approach. We started with the Blue Point Oysters which were large and plump. Then we opted for the roasted beet salad. It was perfectly dressed and the red and golden beets added to the beauty of the presentation. This was such fun, we decided to go for the steak sandwich rather than a traditional entree. Sharing a piece of chocolate cream pie topped off a delightful, cafe dining experience."

"My sister-in-law & I had a very pleasant experience. The food, while good, wasn't up to their usual standards. It's a fun place to go, & I'll definitely go there again."

"Entrees were just okay for the price. Escargots were very good. I like them with more garlic in the butter, but that just a personal preference. The oysters were outstanding. The profiterols with ice cream were yummy, but my God, 3 people could have eaten out of each serving. Unfortunately I didn't have 3 people to share it with so I ate it all."

"It was our first time there, and all in all, it was a good experience. I made a reservation, and the host made us wait to be seated until that time. The couple in front of us had no reservation and were offered one of two tables. When I mentioned I had a reservation, the host made us wait until that time, then sat us at the table leftover from the first couple. We literally stared at an empty, ready table for five minutes. It was silly - not sure what he was trying to accomplish. Fortunately, our waitress and food were great!"

"Nice wine selection by the glass. Great mussels with blue cheese and arugula - with lots of french bread to soak up the sauce! Scallops also excellent. The service was excellent. We'll be back to try some dishes other than sardines and steak frites - which disappointed."

"Delicious French cuisine in the heart of Westport. Laid-back, casual ambiance. Cheese boards & accompaniments won rave reviews. Best value for oysters. Fresh & fabulous! Interesting & imaginative cocktail menu in addition to good wine selection. Terrific neighborhood find."

"Can't beat the atmosphere and the service. The wait staff don't hover or interrupt or make yor sit through a sales presentation. But they are always there if you want them. The bottle of still water on the table is such a great idea. The menu is not long, but it has variety, is tasty and is reasonably priced."

"I wanted to give Westport Cafe 5 stars because almost everything was great. I did not like that I had to wait a half hour to be seated when I had made a reservation in advance, and my steak frittes was overcooked. Otherwise, the cocktails and food were delicious and the restaurant had a great vibe!"

"The others at the table liked their dinner more than I did, so maybe I didn't order the best item. Felt like a casual little bistro in Paris. Will have to try again."

"The food was great and so was our server. Only complaint is about the host's attitude. My wife and I arrived five minutes early for a 6:45 restaurant and the host made us feel like we were in the wrong for being early. He was arrogant and was not welcoming and seated several other two person parties that walked in the door after us. Finally when our table was ready he beckoned to us to sit down and said absolutely nothing."

"This place has been on my 'we need to check this out' list for quite a while. I found an open reservation on a Saturday night for restaurant week, and took the plunge. I was not disappointed. We got there a few minutes early for our 8:15pm reservation, and it was completely packed. The building is very narrow, and there wasn't a lot of room. It was a bit uncomfortable waiting near the bar because it was so crowded, but our table was ready right on time. The food and drinks were completely stunning. The three course restaurant week menu was both simple and elegant. From the terrine de boudin noir appetizer, to the grilled arctic char and chicken con fit, this was one of the best meals I've had in recent memory. I can't wait to go back."
