"Took the whole family there for Mother's Day celebration(12 people). The place is very nice, awesome view of the Hudson and the staff was wonderful. We were looking forward to great meal. Unfortunately, the food was very lackluster. They decided to do a Mother's Day Menu ONLYwhich didn't contain any items from their regular menu. The chicken was bland & the pesto mash was blah, the steak was thin & lacked flavor. The portions were small. They should have stuck to what they do best. I have a couple of friends whom enjoyed their regular menu and they were disappointed to hear my discription of the food. I would return there on a regular day just to lounge and have drinks."

"The noise from a wedding party with a mega speaker system and loud DJ permeated the restaurant. My party of four could hardly have a conversation given the background noise. A table change was requested and denied. Despite continued requests to turn down the volume, the management sort of said they didn't realize how loud the noise would be and we need to be understanding about the party room and it's celebrants. This lacked credibility because this wasn't the first time a loud party at the Dolphin was encountered.
The Dolphin made no real effort to soothe the poor dining experience - not event a token effort. The manager and owner only tried a series of explanations that left my dining party totally unsatisfied."

"This was my 3rd time at the restaurant. 1st experience was excellent, 2nd was not good (restaurant week/bad food, bad service). Thought twice about taking my father there for his 70th birthday. Dolphin totally redeemed themselves. The Food and Services was as good as the first time I went.

"Very disappointed in the food. My husband's fish and chips were greasy and the fish mushy. My seafood brushette contained 1 scallop, 1 shrimp, 1 small piece of fish, 6 mussels, and the supposed lobster tail was a rock lobster tail and tiny. The seasoning on the fish came out of the same container as the seasoning on the oiled bread."

"They started us out with garlic bread, which was excellent. We asked for more garlic bread, which was a very poor second batch. It was replaced by a third batch, which was prepared slightly better than the second, but not as well as the first.

"We went to the Dolphin during restaurant week and had such a pleasurable lunch, that we wil return again. The selection for restaurant week was extensive and the portions were generous. Unfortunately it was a fog filled snowy day so we couldnt take advantage of the lovely Hudson River view. We will definitely return once the weather gets warmer. I highly recommend the calamari as an appetizer and the Almond Tiramisu was to die for."

"The brunch menu advertised "Belgium waffle with maple syrup". I asked the waitress if it was real maple syrup or the fake stuff. She said it was real maple syrup, and she would serve it on the side. I ordered the waffle. Turns out the syrup was not real, it was the fake gooey stuff. I brought this to the waitress's attention who seemed to have no idea what I was talking about.
In the future, if maple syrup is on the menu, it should be real maple syrup, not "table syrup" or "pancake syrup"."

"We went to the Dolphin because of Restaurant Week. It was okay, but nothing special. They did have a more extensive menu than the other restaurants offering Restaurant Week, and we were intrigued by the "wine pairing" that was also offered, but in the end we did the pairing -- the waitress just asked us which wine we preferred. While I appreciated the freedom that afforded us, it wasn't a "wine pairing," since we did the pairing, not the restaurant. It was just a slightly cheaper way to drink 3 glasses of wine ($19.95). So, while everything was okay, I don't know if we will go back, since there were none of the usual draws (unusual menu, great view) that usually pull us back to a restaurant."

"I've only had drinks at Dolphin but decided to try the food during restaurant week.Am glad I did.The food was fabulous.The meatball appetizers were great. Juicy not dry & the sauce was amazing.The short rib ravioli was to die for.Shredded short rib meat, peas & mushroom in a brown gravey-great!The toasted almond tiramisu dessert was like a grown up good humor toasted almond bar only a 1000x better.I had it with the homemade sambuka that was so good I bought a bottle.Being the winter,the view was obstructed but during the warm weather, the outside tables are perfect for watching the sunset. Now that I have enjoyed the food and previously loved the bar area, I have to say this place has it all.The regular menu prices are not that high either."

"No resv needed here mid week,only one other table occupied&one person at bar. Food was good but overpriced. Lobster ravioli with tiny shrimp&scallops was good but I don't know if I tasted any lobster for $23.00. Desert,at $11.,was tasty but not worth the price."

"My hubby and I ate at Dolphin for Valentines day. We were in the area visiting from Boston for the weekend and decided on it from the reviews. Overall it was a good experience. The portions were generous and the 4 courses tasty. We had the hot antipasto, salad, lobster ravioli, and red velvet cake for about $54 a person. I can't really complain about anything. The restaurant didn't come across as a foodie must, but I appreciated the location (right on the Hudson), easy parking ($3 valet), without a pretentious ambiance. I served well as a quiet and romantic spot for the night."

"One of my favorite restaurants. I recommed to all my friends. the calamara is superb,lightly fried & the sauce exquisite. For a one item meal , you can't beat the seafood salad. I love the bread and olive oil. my favorites are the shrip stuffed with crab & the salmon. The waitress are knowledgeable & friendly.
The management by dad & 4 suns is top notch. They set the mood & ambience. The lounge tables off the bar are a pleasant addition."

"This was the first time we had brunch at this lovely restaurant, and it was wonderful. It was not one of those "eat till you drop" buffets, but an order what you want. My eggs Benedict were yummy, my husband loved his French Toast, and my son's burger was perfect. They made an excellent Bloody Mary. A nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon."
