Knickerbocker is known for its great Jazz and its 28 oz. T- Bone Steaks and is a favorite among many celebrities including F. Murray Abraham, Chris Noth and Ben Stiller. Rachel Ray listed us in her "NYC Favorites" and has praised our Shrimp Cocktail, Creamed Spinach, and of course our T- Bone Steaks.
The word "Knickerbocker" itself, says "New York". Upon entering, you’ll know you're in the Village. Its wood paneled walls sport rare turn of the century posters and original caricatures by Al Hirschfield. Large leather booths line the walls and brass rails accent the 100 year old marble bar, where Charles Lindbergh signed his Trans Atlantic contract.
We have survived the times by using the freshest ingredients from local markets, and offering good solid value and quality. Our wine list offers over 100 selections, most under $50. We serve until late (weekends 2:00 AM) and offer a Bistro Menu with lighter fare.
We offer Brunch on the Weekends, and are open on all Holidays.
"As a party of six Germans we enjoyed the long evening (from 9.30pm to 1am) very. We'll come back! Thanks for all. Brigitta, Helga, Jana, Lea, Miriam and Stephan"

"I had a business lunch here and it was perfect. Not to loud that so that you could still converse easily but not so quite that everyone in the place could hear you. It had a good balance that way. The food was good and fresh. Some healthy options along with some good old fashion comfort foods. So everyone kind find what they want to eat. You can't go wrong with this place."

"The Knickerbocker has stood up to time very well. The service is attentive. The menu has something for just about everyone and the wine list is impressive. I was there with 3 friends and we enjoyed the low key jazz after 9 PM. We were able to sit and visit until about 11 PM without anyone hassling us. I frequently enjoy the bar for a great burger and a beer."

"I had reserved a table here and upon our arrival we were offered a booth. No one told us that at a booth we were expected to order a minimum quantity of food or drinks. Our guests (two elderly ladies) had just arrived from Europe and only had a small appetite. Thus, they ordered only a soup. And we opted to order no alcohol. At that point, a member of the staff approached us and flatly informed that we were expected either to order more food or to move to another table. I was insulted and embarrassed in front of my guests. I should mention that I dine at this restaurant often and that I usually order substantial quantities of food. After this humiliating experience I will look elsewhere."

"Knickerbocker's is an A+ in our book: excellent service, excellent food, comfortable ambiance. For chocolate lovers the souffle is an absolute must (you'll thank us!). We always leave Knickerbocker's happy."

"How delightful to have NO blaring music drowning out conversation on the recent Sunday evening I dined there with visiting guests----- (other NYC restaurants should take heed)!!! The room was completely full and the normal conversation level was just fine. (I must also say I definitely enjoy the Friday and Saturday evenings of live jazz that's offered about 10PM when our meal has been completed and we are enjoying after dinner drinks). As usual, the food was excellent and our requested booth was more than adequate for the 3 of us to comfortably converse. It's always a pleasure to visit this well established Village mainstay."

"If you have somewhere to go in a timely manner, don't go to this place for dinner. It took us a long time to get our food and the only thing they served quickly were the overpriced drinks."

"Food was great. Some had steak, some had fish. All real nice. The look and feel was old world steakhouse and pub. Service was fast. It was perfect for after an NYU event. A bit tight in the dining room. But overall a nice, warm break from too trendy restaurants."

"Great steaks and good fish. Salad was a little over dressed and sides were grossly large. On the other hand, the steaks were perfectly done, the Tuna prepared beautifully."

"The restaurant was exactly what I remembered. But...the waiter was efficient but inattentive (no specials?). The lobster bisque was passable, the entree (steak) was quite good. The dessert, apple pie (was awful). The crust was too hard to cut.
Like I said, good character but just be aware."

"Everything was great..when. We ordered the soufflé at the beginning of the meal and we didn't leave enough time for dinner as we had a show to go to they took it off the bill which we thought was very classy without even thinking twice. Waiter was great."

"I have lived in NYC for two years and this is now one of my favourite restaurants. My family was visiting from the UK and I saw the reviews and menu, so decided to give it a go-I'm glad I did. As soon as we walked through the door it was like we had been transported to the fifties. A proper traditional American looking restaurant little semi circle booths around the edge.Anyway the food was excellent (I had the Knickerbocker burger) and my mum's food looked great (some grilled chicken dish laid over mashed potato in a creamy mushroom sauce) Could not have been happier. The best part was that we could hear the local new yorker's saying "oooh I just love coming here.." as they climbed into a booth. that's a good sign."

"We live in the neighborhood and love coming in for jazz, the famous t-bone and an always amazing selection of specials. Certainly a neighborhood spot with established clientele, but that doesn't stop groups of sophisticated 20-something's from also joining the mix."

"Everything we had was great. My only gripe is that we had a table for 7 grown men and they sat us at a table that could have comfortably held 5, maybe. The food was fantastic. The t-bone, mashed potatoes, and spinach were all very good. The grilled octopus was great. Everybody enjoyed themselves, despite having to take turns eating due to the lack of elbow room."

"What a unique corner of Manhattan, such a quirky set of diners. Families, shabby rockers, elegant, boisterous oldsters. The room is big and the lights are maybe a little too bright, and the noise level is not obtrusive, and we did not feel rushed in any way. We enjoyed generously poured cocktails, a few salads, the excellent, expensive, juicy t-bone with creamed spinach and crazy good mashed potatoes. The bread basket had delicious, warm, cornbread. Two of the special desserts were unavailable, but the crispy churros with two dipping sauces were perfect to share with coffee. Our server was a good humored sweetheart, who looked after us very well."

"Not a top tier steak house however the sides were good as was the steak. The average age at 8:30 on Thursday night was easily 60+ Would likely not go back as the steaks were just average. The service was very friendly and attentive."

"Friends & I always have a great time at Knickerbocker & as I looked around Saturday, I noticed every table had at least 5 people & there were several groups much bigger. The festive atmosphere comes from the terrific food--the frisee salad is the best, as is the chicken with grilled romaine and salmon with cauliflower puree. Steak lovers rave about the many choices available. We had the most charming waiter who ran out after us when we forgot our take-home bag. What a way to end a fun evening!"

"I've been here many times. It is an unusual, but classic, style for the Village and points South. The menu is varied and I've tried a a variety of items. When crowded it can be a bore. Still, this is a very good spot to get uptown style without trekking uptown."

"Pretty good, but a little overpriced for what it is - a neighborhood bar and grill that makes a decent steak. Our waitress seemed quite "high" (actually stoned to the point of almost zombie-like), which was a little disconcerting. Good location for catching a glimpse of neighborhood stars of stage and screen."

"Great, as always. We were having such a good time, that when two pasta orders were mixed up, neither of the two diners involved noticed, the food and the conversation being so good. We all had a good laugh midway through the meal when the whole table realized what had happened."
