"It has been 20 years since I last ate at Maximus. It was as good as I remember it. Food was excellent. The atmosphere is casual and it's a little noisy but that's to be expected in the French Quarter! The osso buco and the mixed seafood grill were fantastic. Will go back again sooner this time."

"The first cocktail I ordered was not available due to the bar running out of its main ingredient. The second one I ordered sounded sweet but it was not. Quite bitter and not good actually. The wine I ordered w/dinner was average. The soup was ok The salad we shared was beautifully presented but definitely needed more dressing. It was rather dry. I tried my companion's entree of veal and only took one bite- it was terrible! Honestly the worst veal I have ever tasted. It had an almost fishy taste to it. My entree, chicken piccata, was excellent though. It may be the only saving grace to an otherwise very ordinary meal. The server we had was nice but we had to ask for the wine list twice before he brought it. Overall, not worth the price"

"We have dined at Maximo's for our anniversary for the last several years. This year's experience was a little disappointing. When we made our reservations, we requested a booth in the back. When we arrived, the hostess asked if a booth in the front was okay. We told her we preferred a booth in the back - that's why we requested a booth in the back. There were only about two tables with diners when we arrived - none in the back booths. The hostess tried to seat us in an end booth, which is smaller and less comfortable. We asked for one of the middle booths and she said they were reserved. An hour and half later, as we left the restaurant, there were still only a few occupied tables - none being the booths that we wanted."

"Very expensive and not worth the price. The food is good, but not great and for what they charge, the portions should be larger. The Carpaccio is so thinly cut that you almost have to scrap it off the plate in order to eat it. For $12.50, it should be thinker than 2 pieces of paper.

"We rate restaurants based on how anxious we are to go back. Our experience at Maximo's (our first) was outstanding, to the point that immediately went home and purchased another Living Social discount to use on our next visit. In fact, we'll be returning to Maximo's whether we have a discount or not.
The impression we were left with is, the food isn't "cooked," it's "crafted." The service and ambiance made us feel comfortable, welcome and appreciated.
Wholeheartedly recommended."

"Having been a fan of the New Orleans dining scene for over 35 years, my husband and I have found yet another gem. We purchased a Living Social certificate and decided to try Maximo's. What a wonderful find!!! The food was oustanding, the service was above par, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was fabulous. My filet was cooked to perfection, and the asparagus side dish was the best I've ever eaten. My husband had the four cheese ravioli and enjoyed it just as much. We will definitely make this one of our regular stops when we are in the city.
As a side note, we sat at a table in plain view of the grill ~ loved the experience of watching the chefs prepare our meal and talking with them as they prepared our meal."

My wifes scallops were "fired" and mine were in a glaze. I preferred hers and she mine.
The waitress comped my wife's dessert for her birthday. It was a very nice gesture, and I tipped accordingly. We had not been to Maximo's in over 11 years. It was great. We were lucky it was Memeorial Day; parking was easy in the Quarter."

"I have been to Maximo's several times. Recently, my husband and I rediscovered it and I have probably been 3 times this past year. The food is consistently delicious. I had the ravioli special and it was rich but the red sauce was very light. This visit I brought an out of town friend, who is a picky eater. She had a hard time choosing what to eat because she had so many options! If I lived in the Quarter, this would be one of our regular nice places to eat."

"We ate at Maximos on Saturday 5/4/13. Even though we are locals and pass by the restaurant all the time, we've never dined there. We got a late reservation on Open Table and I'm glad we did! The duck ravioli was smokey & tasty and the duck salami was fantastic. The restaurant was packed so the initial service was a bit slow but that was to be expected during Jazz Fest. The atmosphere is energetic and we sat in the back of the restaurant which is open to the kitchen showcasing all of the chefs. We will definitely go back again as there are more items on the menu that we want to try."

"The food is innovative and consistent. One of the better restaurants in the city. Ambiance is not particularly romantic but the decor is interesting. The dining room is a little on the loud side. The food more than makes up for any other short comings.."

"As a local, I tend to go to my favorite New Orleans restaurants over and over again instead of trying some place new (I know I'm probably missing out on some other great restaurants!). Maximo's never disappoints. I highly recommend the daily ravioli special. They're like tiny pasta pillows!!"

"Service was impeccable. Food was amazing and like the fact there are 2 plate sizes. The quarters are a little cramped but overall it has a very nice atmosphere. Great date night place or special occasion. Reservations are a must. Can't wait to try this place again."

"I have been dining at Maximo's since 1998 and not once have I had a bad food experience there! I absolutely love this place! This is my first time back here since 2003, and the food and the experience was still as great as I remember! I ordered the diver scallops, and must say I was very happy with my selection! Great place for a romantic dinner, or just dinner with good friends. Anytime I come back to New Orleans, I will definitely make sure I dine here at least once during my stay. I promise they won't disappoint!"
