Nobu Miami Beach is the Miami outpost of Chef Nobu Matsuhisa's new Japanese cuisine empire. Nobu draws upon his classical training at sushi bars in Tokyo and his life abroad in Peru, Argentina, and around the world to create a whole new trend in Japanese cuisine, bringing a burst of excitement to the already famed scene of Miami Beach.

"We decided to dine at Nobu because we heard it was one of the more notable hot spots in South Beach to eat. It was pretty much a disappointment from the moment we entered the door. One of the hostess's looked so bored that at first I thought she was a patron who got stood up. We were then seated at a tiny table which was squeezed between 2 other talbles - I was practically in the next guy's lap. Anyway, we looked at the menu and it didn't read like a typical menu. I asked the server to explain the menu, but I couldn't hear what he was saying because the restaurant was so loud. We ended up ordering 5 different dishes which were served separately and were very small. The food was decent, but we left Nobu still hungry and over $300 poorer."

"Everything was incredible as usual. We tried many dishes so we good enjoy a variety of flavours and textures. Jalapeño yellowtail is our favourite dish. (We each get our own!) the beef skewers, rock shrimp in spicy mayo, sushito peppers and miso
soup laid were all killer. The crispy rice with tuna feature was delish as were the beef skewers. Service was a little overly attentive because we were there for an early seating but other than that a memorable, repeatable meal!

"My family and me have visited the restaurant on May 8th 2013. Credit card was needed to make a reservation. But despite the fact the restaurant was just 50% full all the evening. We were first who had entered the restaurant at 7 p.m. but the first dish has arrived in one hour only after the order has been made. Staff is trained in a very strange way: they always want to steal some of your plates or glasses: one put some wine in a glass to make a tasting, another person in a minute try to take it away. Food is unfortunately nothing special. Especially in comparison to some other Japanese restaurants in Miami. Actually, you pay a lot just for brand that seems to be going down at the moment."

"Unfortunately, this location of Nobu does not have the same level of quality in the food or attention to detail. Pretty disappointing. It might be the 'two seatings per night' they plan for. We had to wait outside unti lthe doors opened at 7pm or our 7pm reservation - well, okay, we can hang with that. But the sushi was terrible, the appetizers we ordered were pretty good. But when we pay $500 for 3 people to dine, we infact do have high expectations. Especially after visiting other locations. Sorry Miami - you got this one wrong."

"This place is very expensive and really the food is just average. The service staff was great but it's not worth what you pay. The servings are incredibly small. Went there for a nice dinner and left hungry. Stopped at another Sushi restraunt on the way back to our hotel and got some sushi that was just as good, not nearly as expensive and a much bigger serving."

"I had heard is much about Nobu and what a great restaurant. I was terribly disappointed. The ambience is cheap. And it is clear they stuff as many people in as they possibly can. We showed up on time. Told Hostess we were there on time for our a reservation and she sat two couples and thought of us because she forgot about us. Then spent $300 on extraordinarily small portions in a very loud environment. Not going back."

"Other than the rather cool reception upon arrival, and the loud table close to us, we had an incredible evening which lasted approximately 2.5 hours. It was a special evening and we tried many dishes. Almost everything we would order again - the tacos, the sashimi, the black cod, the beef skewers and the special branzino. The rolls were fine, and probably on the menu to pacify someone not keen on sashimi, but for the price, I would advise against. The restaurant was extremely lively, and the service was excellent."

"This experience was horrible. We had to wait a total of 2 hours to finally decide to walk out because we hadn't received our main dishes (at 11:30PM). The Main dish we ordered was an upsell from our original choice, the server strongly suggesting a feature. We never got to taste it as we decided to ask for our check, when the server after two hours told us the chef wasn't able to make it. Overrated, too expensive for the lousy experience. Take your money to Joe's stone crab for seafood, or Yakko San for nice Japanese."

"We had very high expectations because of the reputation that Nobu has for being an outstanding culinary experience. The facility was kind of tired looking and in need of updating. The wood wall treatments were scratched and the seating upholstery was old looking. The lighting was bright, but more like a cafeteria than an upbeat restaurant. The server was very friendly, but didn't ask us if we wanted drinks; we asked her if we could order drinks after several minutes.
The food was good, but not memorable. We had eaten at three other outstanding restaurants in South Beach and we expected Nobu to be better than the others, but it wasn't."

"It's our third time to Nobu in Miami and we love the food! The mushroom soup, sashimi selections, nori rolls and the black cod were outstanding! So many wonderful choices and the service was expedient. My water glass must have been filled a dozen times.
The only thing that I would say could be inmproved is the interior decor. It's looking a little tired. It needs a facelift and other creative ways to separate the diners from each other. I always feel like I'm on top of our neighbors conversations.
The reception/hostess this time was much friendlier than in the past."

"The food was relatively good, but it was clearly over-priced for the experience. The decor was quite ragged. The noise level and acoustics made it nearly impossible to hear my date who sitting about 4 feet across from me. "Our server was awesome. Helped guide us through the menu which was needed. There was never a long wait for the next dish either. I was super impressed. The food... Awesome. Our faves were the risotto, foie, yellow tail and jalapeño and crispy rice and tuna. Don't go for romance. Tables are close together so it's not ideal for alone time. We're tappers though so we just started talking food choices with our super close fellow diners. Finally...it's very expensive. The portions are very small which fits with the way the menu pushes you to enjoy several dishes. It doesn't fit however with diners on a budget. It you were getting sushi rolls only, it wouldn't be that bad. But if you just want a traditional roll, avoid this place."

"Nobu was a real disappointment. After all the hype, I was expecting something spectacular. Instead I found grossly overpriced sushi without any interesting twists or innovations. The food was fresh and well prepared, but not worth the ridiculous prices!! The service and ambiance of the Miami restaurant at the Shore Club can only be characterized as "tired" and the service was only passable. Having dined at many of the worlds truly great restaurants (including Morimoto in Oahu), I cannot give Nobu anything other that the most mediocre review."

"Sadly Nobu is past its prime. While the food was good it was way short of the Nobu standard and sadly left us feeling as if we had just eaten an average meal. The ambiance was less than favorable, the restaurant looks and feels dated, and the service was slow and spotty.
Not a single food item stood out for all the components and the only dish that really stood out was the Black Cod.
Nobu used to set the standard. Sadly they are long past their prime and are no longer a must visit restaurant!"

"good as expected, but guest ordered tasting menu. food awesome, but timing of dishes served was awful. allocated 2 hours for dining and it exceeded that by a lot. turned a leisurely dinner into a marathon of dishes."

"Nobu is consistently amazing no matter which location you visit anywhere in the world. The food was delicious and the prices more reasonable than one might think. The only complaint I can find is that the tables were too close together, we felt like we were dining with the couple at the next table."

"I can only compare this restaurant to Nobu (Mayfair) and I don't think it measures up. Portions are very small & each plate expensive. Some of the flavour combinations are really nice, but after spending over $300 we were still hungry. The ambience is like a big noisy canteen. The waiters can't hear you, you can't hear you dining partner. Service is very inattentive & getting the attention of a waiter is extremely difficult in somewhere so noisy. We only had one drink because we weren't asked if we wanted them refreshed. When you spend so much money on a meal you want to feel special & that wasn't the case. However there was a redeeming feature at the end of the meal when they brought my friend complimentary birthday dessert with candles."

"In a word . . . disappointing. I expected so much more. I made the reservation more than a month in advance with high expectations. The place has no real character, you could be in a shopping mall and no feel of being in the heart of Miami Beach. The service was not welcoming or warm. The food is overpriced and frankly not that good. I would never return or recommend."
