"We celebrated with Mother's day brunch @ Amuse & were very happy! Great & interesting food choices, good drink offerings, beautiful setting, & excellent service.

"I got the lamb shanks and was happy with quality and quantity (4 chops for $17). But, I was disappointed in the Strawberry Short Cake dessert. Not only was it very small, it was not very good. And they charged $7 for it! I pointed out that I was not happy with it to my waiter and the manager (who checked by, I did not ask to speak with him). Neither offered to do anything such as offer a different dessert or take it off my bill."

"I had lunch at Amuse before theatre with my husband and two teenagers. I had the crab cake with fried green tomatoes. The items on the side enhanced the wonderful crab cake. The service was attentive and not overbearing. A wonderful experience for all."

"This restaurant is a true gem, with excellent food, elegant ambiance, signature drinks, and a simply beautiful view from the terrace. Eat outside if at all possible. The menu seems to feature local ingredients, and the desserts are well-chosen and delicious. We will be going back often."

"My husband and I enjoyed another wonderful lunch experience at Amuse. The food never disappoints. Appetizers of mussels, oysters and gazpacho were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our scallop entrees. All food was perfectly cooked, service was great and the view was gorgeous on this spring day. Afterwards, we enjoyed the Tom Wesselmann Pop Art Exhibit. "However Friday evening at 7:30 though not apparently full or rushed, service was not up to par. it was slow and disjointed. Cocktails ordered after before the meal were but slow to arrive, and when delivered arrived almost simultaneously with the appetizer. There was quite a long unexpected and unexplained wait for the entree. When the entrees arrived and were eaten, we were ready to flee without dessert or coffee.
we know this is not the norm"

"Our lunch at the VMFA was delightful. Starting with a herb laden Focaccia served with an unsalted whipped butter, I had the Manakintowne mixed greens salad and P.E.I. steamed mussels. Both were quite nice with garbanzos distinguishing the salad and sausage bits adding to the Parmesan dusted steamed mussels. My sister had the lump crab cake which was served atop, and capped with a pankin encrusted fried yellow tomato. We shared a dessert of of what i assumed to be a traditional Tres Leche cake which was the only low point of our meal. It was somewhat dry and uninspired.
I would rate our overall experience a solid "A" The ambiance and service were exceptional. Sinclair"

"A group of 6 of us went to Amuse for restaurant week. Most of us ordered pre-dinner cocktails while we looked over the menu, all of which were delicious! Of the appetizers, my favorite was the fried oysters a friend ordered, with my own white bean soup a close second. The warm potato & leek soup was a nice change from traditional vichyssoise. All three men in our group ordered the pork confit croquette, a great choice, as it was tender and meaty yet crispy from the coating. My husband was fighting me off his plate. My scallops were cooked perfectly, and more importantly, CLEANED perfectly, which I haven't always found even in Richmond's upscale seafood places. Lastly, I would eat the tres leches cake every day if I could. Wonderful time!"

"In comparison to the cafe downstairs...not good. Menu was too cutsey. Food did not appear to be cooked to order. My crab cake sandwich was just fried food. No taste to the tomatoes and the crab was too fried and crispy. Would I eat there again? Probably if only to see if they have changed things!"

"I took my friend to Amuse for her birthday and it was a lovely evening. I had the flounder which was good (altho I've had better). The waiter was attentive, friendly and efficient. The location in the museum is a special treat and makes it easy to combine your meal with a visit to some amazing art. Highly recommended."

"Amuse is the best restaurant in Richmond. The staff is top drawer. The presentation of the lunch was elegant. "I've been to Amuse many times, but this was the first time for brunch, on Easter. I loved the menu choices. Two special appetizers - rabbit pâté and deviled eggs with caviar - were terrific. Service was great, as always. And I was thrilled to see Conundrum Red on the wine list. Another wonderful meal at Amuse!"

"In a word horrible. Having said that, have had very good experience at Amuse in past. However, on this brunch occasion we were seated 30 minutes late, French toast was burnt even after sending back, chorizo sausage dish had almost no sausage, was burnt and did not taste like chorizo and the eggs on this dish were tough as shoe leather. Also service was very slow and server ignored us most of time. Might give benefit of doubt and try again but not sure willing to risk it"

"Took a friend to celebrate her birthday. I've always wished that Amuse would do Afternoon Tea (2:30-5:00) as there is no proper afternoon tea in Richmond, except The Jefferson Hotel - only at Christmas holidays and too pricey.
Please consider - promote it for April-June and November-January.
LOVE the Virginia Museum. Amuse is attractive,contemporary setting,though I miss overlooking the sculpture garden in the former Museum Dining Room.
Food is nice - ordered desserts and tea. My friend loved her bread pudding. MY chocolate dessert was served with lovely whipped cream, fresh mint and raspberries, but the chocolate was not as great as expected.
Server was OK, pleasant,but neglected to bring sugar,cream or offer lemon for tea?"

"My daughter invited me to visit the Fine Arts Museum and to have brunch at Amuse. We had a lovely time and enjoyed excellent service from Elliott (sp?). We are looking forward to our next visit of both the museum and Amuse."
