Spoonbar Chef Louis Maldonado serves a menu of clean and simple dishes honoring America’s diverse culinary influences. His artfully-crafted, market-driven cuisine of fresh, bold flavors is built around seasonally-inspired local and sustainable ingredients. The same focus carries over to Spoonbar’s cocktails which use specially sourced organically-grown herbs, fruits and vegetables with an emphasis on locally and domestically produced spirits.
Freeform tables made from reclaimed acacia surround a long, communal table crafted from a split tree. Splashes of color—from the turquoise Eames chairs to the golden floral three dimensional wall art—brighten the open space like dappled sunshine filtering through summer leaves. On warm days and evenings the restaurant’s Cantina doors open up to sidewalk dining.
"I tried to pay in advance with a gift I had gotten from a relative for Mother's Day. $50.00. When the bill arrived my friend and I still had to each pay $25.00, we knew this could not be. We had no liquor, had appetizers and everything was great but our bill could never have added to $100.00. I am still waiting to hear we were credited for the additional $50.00."

"We love Spoonbar. Food is always fantastic - an updated take on classics while also offering new takes on different foods. Service has always been outstanding - attentive without being intrusive. Cocktails are fantastic as well. One of the best restaurants in the Bay Area and beyond."

"This is the second time I have had lunch at Spoonbar and both times the food and service were excellent. We started with all three toasts and then each had a different entree. I have also tried the rock shrimp and chicken salad. They were both outstanding. The restaurant is open, very pleasant to relax in and the service great -- not rushed. Parking can be difficult around that area, and we were pleasantly surprised that there was valet service."

"Had a great birthday celebration for one of our family members here. Food was very good, creative, sort of Asian flavor but not really Asian fusion. Excellent place for sharing fun plates. Wait staff was really good at explaining dishes and suggesting complimentary combo's. Light on the drinks in terms of alcohol but a very fun cocktail list all the same. The front side of the restaurant opens completely to the side walk which is fun and the back has a great quiet view of the hotel garden. We'll be back!"

"Good food in Healdsburg. The dining room is basically in the hotel lobby, and there are a lot of tables, so it's not particularly intimate, but a good place for a meal. Smallish portions."

"The menu and wine list were well-concieved and interesting. A nice touch included a featured winery pouring tastes for customers. The lounge was nicely decorated, and looked like a fun place for drinks, and the bar was full in early evening.
Service was very good, and prices on the menu were reasonable, and portions were sufficient. The food is well-concieved, but two dishes were under seasoned. An appetizer of Arancini was under seasoned and a touch more salt would have lifted the flavors. A squid & fava bean dish also could have used a touch more seasoning. The flavors didn't meld, and what little sauce on the plate was sweet and didn't add to the dish."

"Sorry, SpoonBar, but you should have kept your previous chef. The food this time was served very sparsely in strange combinations and your prices were high. One leaf of romaine was the salad, really?"

"My husband and I had a lovely Easter brunch here. Attentive service, if not possibly, overly attentive. Didn't bother me though as I thought our server was lovely to chat with. My favorite part was the biz fizz and the pastry wrapped asparagus. Delicious! The restaurant is beautifully designed with recycled elements throughout. Natural light fills the place and it feels both cozy and airy. We will be back!"

"Eaten here twice. Began by asking server to help us with the menu. He said, if you want meat and potatoes you can get that on most restaurants in Healdsburg. We are different. Not a great way to start with that arrogant an attitude. Especially since with a couple of exceptions food is fancy but bland. We won't be back. Too many really good restaurants in Bealdsburg to eat so-do food in a place that thinks is so special."

"The service was very slow. Our drinks were empty and our server never offered another. We finally had to flag her down to request another. Also the food was very slow to arrive. The food was goog but not good enough to overcome the slow service or the cost.."

"We've never been disappointed and everyone from the wait staff to host to manager treats us like we are royalty. And, as locals, we keep going back for more. The food is of Top Chef quality. Nothing but the best here in Sonoma County. For drinks, try the carbonated Sidewinder's Fang.. For food, everything I've tried is excellent. Be a risk taker and try a little of everything."

"Great ambiance. Fun style. Went for SoCo restaurant week and was only slightly impressed with the dishes. The chicken roulade was a bit boring and the avocado salad's flavors weren't well balanced. They have a substantial wine list and free corkage for wines within RRV, Dry Creek, and Alexander Valley."

"Spoonbar is a spare, new restaurant with a creative chef who's always looking for new ways to cook local farm produce and meats. The results can be quite stunning. Somethng as simple as french fries were a revelation in texture and crispness and delight."

"Can't believe it took us so long to make our way to this fabulous restaurant. We experienced one of our top 5 restaurant meals ever. Each dish was deliciously prepared, beautiful to the eye and scrumptious. And being a local we were treated like special guests at their home. Bravo to all that make this restaurant so great."

"Spoonbar was great. Very interesting hand-crafted cocktails and delicious small plates. We noticed some friends of ours walking on the street outside. They came in to say hello and have a drink with us and ended up staying for dinner. It was their anniversary. Staff was very accommodating and had us set up at another table in no time. We will definitely go back!"

"The food here is actually very tasty. My problem is with the concept; we were told by our server that the food was "designed for sharing" and the "portions are small". However this is not tapas and the menu is pretty limited and not really designed for sharing. How you divide a romaine lettuce heart is beyond me. There are "mains" on the menu and again I am not sure if these are designed for sharing. A specific gripe- my wife and I both ordered a seafood stew type dish, based on shellfish in a delicious broth- begging for bread- I was told bread was a "snack" and would be $6!!! Summary, ambience is nice, food is tasty but confused Idea. The whole experience reinforced to me that "fine dining" and "sharing" don't mix very well."

"the little plates are good and fun and inovative but could use more variety and a hamburger and pizza would be a good addition to the menu for kids. Love the "no corkage policy!!"

"Excellent modern restaurant that adds to the dining map in NorCal. I recognized the care in their detail of service, executed very well. I was worried about the pace of our courses as the restaurant started to fill up for dinner (we made early reservations on purpose), but timing was never an issue.
Highlight was the pork belly w/ rice - w/ that vinaigrette, nice pop! I'm a sucker for bisque and having the scallop mushroom bisque with roe was sorta' bittersweet. I wished I had 3 times the portion!
The minor blemish came in the for of the bread croutons in the avocado bread salad. Each piece of bread was a mouthful size and they were not exactly easy to bite a piece off of.
Overall, serious technique in the kitchen."

"Menu could add a few more choices. Grilled romaine lettuce was a big disappointment, price was way too high for what was on the plate. Not a lot of food for the price, so if you are a big eater, you could go away hungry. It worked for us though."

"Great food by new Chef Maldonado! We are locals but made reservations with friends from the SF so good food was a def must. Afte a long day of wine tasting for some in our party-a place with a full bar was a must. Their Drinks were fabulous-no puckers or heaby syrups. Notable wine list-all though we brough our own wine in. Wine Director, Joe was very knoweldgable, friendly and made us feel right at home. A must if you are in Sonoma's Wine Country!"

"fabulous food - only thing I would add to the overall opinion of the restaurant would be they need a higher quality sound system. suggest they do something like Comal in Berkeley. otherwise, this place rocks in every way possible."

"Buyer beware! This is a small plates restaurant and when they use the term they take it to heart. While the food and service were great the small plates should be referred to as tiny plates. My recommendation would be to stop somewhere before and have some appetizers because you will be leaving here hungry. The staff is superb and does everything they can to make your visit enjoyable but they can't make up for the lack of food on the petite plates."

"Interesting menu, but had to ask the waiter what many of the ingredients were since many were unfamiliar. Great beet dish. Fish was good but only 2 small slices. Ambiance was modern and lively, but the chairs were a bit uncomfortable, especially waiting for our entree for awhile. Good experience overall, but not sure I'd go back."
