Innovative cuisine in an historic mansion set in Baltimore's scenic Mt. Vernon neighborhood. Award-winning ales brewed on the premises, with carefully selected wines and spirits also available.
"I love the food here and go back as often as possible. If you haven't tried there Steak Frittes do so! The ambience is on the quiet side in the dining room with low lighting. The bones of the building itself are enough to keep you looking around to check out all the details!
Considering the cost of the meal though I would usually expect a quietly respectful wait staff that knows there job backward and forward. That was not the case this last visit. Although she was a fine waitress she approached as though we were all 5 year olds who needed a pep talk in order to have a good dinner. Not really my cup of tea and I've been a waitress! I can see that style of waiting at a crab shack but maybe not at The Brewer's Art."

"I was impressed with the craft, private-brewed, beer selection and all choices of Beer, Wine and libations. It's always a good sign to see a well thought menu with limited but plenty of focused items in appetizers and entre's.
The Chef at Brewer's Art uses a unique palate of tastes with each entre; the main choice, a starchy and/or vegetable side and a delicious compliments of sauces. We ordered the stuffed baked breast of veal and the chicken; each were prepared perfectly, each with their own distinct complements of pasta and vegetables. The desserts are exceptional and the service was exceptional- always aware and attentive, but not obtrusive."

"The spring dinner menu was just a few days old when I showed up, and it was amazingly varied and interesting -- I had the asparagus flan which was divine, and the curried rabbit pate was piquant and smooth. The rosemary garlic fries were crispy and light - totally hit the spot. My companion had the lamb and at some point asked me "would it be rude for me to lick my plate?" Similarly, the dessert menu wowed with its array of choices and flavor combinations. Our waiter was friendly and helpful when he was around - he had a tendency to disappear for long stretches which meant water glasses stood unfilled for longer than we'd have liked. The bar area (2 rooms in front) looks like a fun place to hang out over a beer and some fries."

"Great place! The food was excellent, although the menu is a bit hard to follow for us newbies in fancy dinning. I went on a date, my girlfriend was more than happy! I had the chef special that night which was pork, and it was great. We had a cheesecake as dessert which had goat cheese, it was exquisite! Would definitely go again, perfect for a date!"

"There is no sign on the outside of the restaurant - make sure you take the address with you or you will never find it. The bar is noisy, but the restaurant in the back area is much quieter. Much of the food is locally sourced and tasty."

"While I had been to the Brewers Art in the past, it was generally earlier in the evening. The noice level was annoying and we could hardly talk. I assume the bar is a hot spot for young professionals, but the noise level did not make for a pleasant dining experience for adults. The food choices were very unusual, but the taste unremarkable."

"My boyfriend and I ate here before seeing Jerry Seinfeld at the Meyerhoff. Our waitress was amazing, she had great knowledge of the beers and food. She made our experience that much better. We both enjoyed our beers, salads, entrees and deserts. MY ceasar salad was the best I had in a while and my boyfriends house salad was great also. He had the hanger steak which was amazing. I had the chicken, it was not quite as good but still I had no complaints. The only thing that I didn't love was how close our table was to the people next to us. But luckily with when the tables were seated we didn't have to deal with that for the whole meal."

"The Brewer's Art is a unique establishment which offers a wonderful dining experience. The building is beautiful, the food is absolutely amazing, and the servers are very attentive and proactive. My party had a reservation for 5:30, but due to car trouble, we were late. I called to let them know, and when we got there, our table was still ready for us. The house beers are delicious, and the other beers they offer are great, as well. There is really something for everyone! This was my second time eating there, and it was just as superb as my first experience. I will certainly be dining there again, and I will be recommending it to all of my friends!"

"Reservations for 4 at 6:15 on a Saturday evening. Very little wait time upon arrival. Great server with just the right amount of attention. Surprisingly quick delivery of food to the table and we were not rushed to turn the table over. Seemed we could have lingered longer without stressing the staff. Raves about the food from all of us. I would go back again."

"Noisy, food is scant and underwhelming. Flavors below expectations. Part of six, server charged us 2x for the 18% auto gratuity. Would not go back. Beer was tasty. 6 people $350 with beer and wine. Not a value considering price/quality/food/flavor/service."

"Great dining from start to finish. The cocktails, beer, and scotch were on point. Appetizers, entrees, and dessert were delicious. However, the temperature was not right on a few of the dishes - a few dishes were cold or room temperature when they should have been hot. Having an extra runner working on a saturday evening could help with that. Sever was great, very knowlegable, and made terrific recommendations. Also, the architecture of the building and its rooms was spectacular, which made the dining experience even better. We would definitely return"

"Not sure what to say. We visited Brewers Art 3 times now. This visit, I really didn't enjoy my food. I had the Arctic char and is wasn't very good. I've had better food experiences. Plain old salmon would have had better flavor. The fish was very dry and the potatoes were under cooked. The server was good, but the constant " still enjoying your delicious food? " was really a bit much!"

"We loved our visit to The Brewer's Art. We made a reservation and were seat in the restaurant which is quieter than the rather chaotic pub area but also has a completely different and more expensive menu. Service was truly outstanding and the beer was terrific. We ordered a flight to try all the house beers ($6) and thought the Ozzy and the Belgian Green Peppercorn were exceptional. For food we kept the price down by ordering off the salad, side, appetizer and dessert menus. We tried the rosemary french fries, the mussels, the perogies, a delicious house salad, and a chocolate pudding dessert. All were tasty and solid but what we drank was better than what we ate. Try the chocolate bourbon for an after dinner drink! Best ever."

"Two of the three in our family enjoyed their meal and beer. I, however, was very disappointed in my wine, and my meal. The service was the low point . Brian was brusque, indifferent, and inefficient. We come to this restaurant frequently, and this was the first time we have been anything but thrilled. The wine list was devoid of any oaked Chardonnay. Our waiter led me to believe I would like the DeLoach, which I did not. Why no Californa Chardonnay such as Toasted Head or Kendall Jackson? A reason for me not to return. Dessert was very good, as were the antelope and the lamb."

"The menu is very unique and fabulous. We started off with the Charcuyerie which was a chicken liver pate (excellent) and dried duck with fresh cabbage, and different sauces. Also a cheese platter that was fantastic. My husband had the veal stuffed with veal sausage over a flat pasta with peas. I had the stergeon fish that was crispy on outside and tender on the inside over a vegetable medley. Loved it."

"We had a very enjoyable dinner with great food and service. My one problem (and that doesn't make 'Brewers Art' stand out) is the noise level. In your Open Table 'rate your review' you have for noise level:'quiet, moderate, energetic and don't recall', so there isn't even a space to put down: too noisy! I'm sorry, but 'energetic' won't do; I'm so tired of having to shout at my dinner companions, just to have a conversation. Increasingly, this has become a huge problem. I love to eat out. I love many Baltimore restaurants, but in recent years those events have become marred by the 'energetic' level. I say let's start a new trend: a place with great food and service where you can talk to your friends comfortably and share the experience."

"We dined before a show, and the room filled all at one time, making it somewhat hectic for the servers in the room. At one point, our server had 5 tables all sat within the same time frame. Despite this hurdle, and a few poinst where we really had to wait for his attention, he did a fabulous job. He was well-versed on the menu and the wine list, and even brought macaroni and cheese from the bar menu for our one very picky diner. Overall the food was tasty - foie gras, caesar salad, golumpkies and steak. Our server got us out right on time and gave great directions to our out of town guests. The room was a little warm...but the gorgeous atmosphere made up for it."

"The food overall was good. However, I couldn't understand half of the menu, and I'm fairly well-read in food. Our waiter was nice, but only further obfuscated the selections with more complicated food terms. I didn't like my dish, but the rest of my party had excellent meals. I would say that this restaurant would do itself a great service by toning down the snobbery; it doesn't make the food taste any better. The experience was nice, but I won't be going back to the restaurant, unless it's just desserts and cocktails.
On a side note: the bar downstairs is much more low key and an excellent place for the younger crowd."

Will definitely be back sooner than later. Might be a good idea to reserve a table for dinner as we did as the place fills up quickly at dinnertime."

"Service was excellent, food was extraordinary and the beers made a convert of a lifelong wine drinker - though the wine list was also more than adequate! Unique combinations made for a delicious and memorable special occasion meal. The waiter was very helpful and attentive without being obtrusive. Best mussels in a town where the competition is fierce, delicious elk and the lamb was exquisite. Most surprising was the pan-fried perch on a bed of oatmeal and parsnips puree with dried peaches and hazelnuts! Can't wait to visit again!"

"Always great home-brew beers; delighted with what's on tap for spring. We ordered the delicious spinach salad to share and it came pre-divided on separate plates. My husband felt that the cherry sauce on the elk was a bit over-powering for the meat, though the meat was prepared perfectly. He loved the mushroom tart. Fortunately the waiter explained that the half chicken was a layered wedge slice rather than the expected side of chicken. While good, I prefer to eat my white and dark meat separately. The potatoes were delicious but more of a hash than a rosti and the rapini was the perfect bitter complement to the rich chicken, but hard to cut."

"Only concern is that the restaurant is located near theater district which has matinee on Sunday that ends at 5 pm. However they do not open for dinner until 5:30. Means crowded from 5 til 5:30 with everyone just waiting. The bar area too small to accommodate all. Would be better if started serving dinner at 5."

"I went to The Brewer's Art for the first time because I had a nice $100 giftcard. Good thing it was $100 because after tip our total was $108 for two people, two beers each, one entree each, one app, and a dessert (which was comped because it took so long to come out). My boyfriend's food was great, but my dish was a little over-zealous. I got monkfish with Chocolate sauce. Not exactly my favorite combination ever. The appetizer was great and the cheesecake was to die for. The service was excellent, I have the feeling it was the kitchen's fault about the dessert because our server apologized profusely and comped it without any word from us. The beer was pretty good, It just all sorta tasted similar (minus the black lager). Great overall!"

"We were seated quickly at a table in the dining room that was very conducive to conversation, as I had requested when I made the reservation. The menu is very diverse and interesting. The four of us each selected different entrees and were very pleased with all of them - the fish of the day (Arctic char), steak and frites, elk, and golumkies. The dining room, with a beautiful, high ceiling and wood floors , is nonetheless cozy and warm."
