"We had an amazing meal here. I had one of the literally "prettiest" salads I have ever had. It was delicious too. Do not skip on the croquettes they are amazing. The chicken was also fantastic. Very nice wait staff. We love this place and will def. be going back again!"

"Everything felt very high end here and we loved the decor. Plenty of imaginative dishes. Disappointed by the bland, overpriced lobster risotto, but all other dishes were tasty. I got the steak which was served atop a lobster hash which gave it a nice dimension. Portions were ample so we had no room for dessert. Service was on the slow side. Overall I would recommend it."

"We found the tasting menu and wine pairings outstanding, and the service truly impressive overall, with kudos to Matt in particular for dealing with our sometimes challenging comments and requests in an exemplary manner. These people really seem to care both about the food and your dining experience. Our only minor quibbles were the less than stellar bread, and not being asked how we wanted our halibut cooked (it came out medium, while we would have preferred medium rare). Bravo Barndiva, and keep it up!"

"We had a fabulous evening at Barndiva! We dined in their grape trellised outdoor dining area as it was a summery evening- we felt transported to Tuscany,Provence or the Spanish country side. With twinkling lights, the soothing wall fountain, the arched trellis of foliage, ..it was lovely. Our serving team was friendly, timely, and patient with wine comparisons and suggestions. The beet salad was memorable- gorgeous and fresh from the garden; the lobster risotto was rich and yet contrasted perfectly with fresh peas, the warm brie with apricots was delicious, and the Preston wine selection was enjoyed by all."

"Our evening at Barndiva was even better than we had anticipated. The people there are very friendly and the service was perfect. If anything, they were TOO attentive! The food was spectacular - we sought out the chef to thank him when we left. My wife is vegetarian, and the waiter asked her what she liked and didn't like, and the chef made something special for her. Their specialty drinks were also very nice.
We sat out back on the patio, and although it was very nice and semi-private, it was quite chilly - they should have brought out some heaters. We had to finish our (amazing) dessert inside. It was quiet that night, we would like to go back when they have some of the special dinners, buffet, etc."

She also had a sense of humor and patience. Yes, several photos were taken of the party people by Katherine. "Barndiva upholds the stereotype that the food in the Sonoma/Napa region is ridiculously good. We were both so full from eating all day that we ordered two vegetarian appetizers and the vegetarian entree, and despite our not being super hungry we devoured everything. We ordered the "vegetarian" at the suggestion of our waiter, and we were so glad we did. It consists of the patron telling the waiter the types of vegetables they like, and the Chef puts together a creative and delicious assortment with a beautiful presentation. In an area with so much competition, Barndiva stands out."

"My husband ordered the Crispy Young Chicken and declared it the best chicken dish he's ever had. We travel and eat out a lot and we love great restaurants. We first discovered Barn Diva 2 years ago when we were in the area for a wedding (we live in DC). We planned a trip back to San Francisco and as soon as I had the airfare booked, I booked our dinner reservations (3+ months in advance). "It was our wedding anniversary and we were very excited to finally obtain a reservation. The food was divine and our meals perfection. The host sat us promptly, then was accommodating to allow us to move away from a rowdy table to a quieter section.
The wait staff seems inexperienced. We waited a fairly long time to put a drink order in and then quite some time for the drinks to be delivered. Excellent martinis thank you.
We flagged the wait staff for bread which was never offered then nicely delivered via silver tongs. We also had to ask for butter. My soup was delivered without a spoon. Again had to get someones attention for the silverware."

"Our reservations were for 6:30 & we arrived at 6:20. The restaurant was 20% occupied with plenty of open tables. The hostess told us that our reservations were for 6:30,our table would be ready in 10 minutes & directed us to the bar to wait. Since the restaurant was almost completely empty we were all astonished & annoyed. We did not want to wait in the bar / have a drink, so we walked outside. Two minutes later a gentleman came to get us & apologized for the miscommunication. We were seated at one of the many tables that was open to begin with. I rated the service outstanding because our waiter was great- but the reception person was not."

"Used to frequent here and the last two visits it was clear they'd gone a bit downhill and we were never bowled over by the experience before aside from my husband always getting a lovely, fresh, inventive vegan plate from the Chef. The food was surprisingly bland. The beet salad is always delicious but I've had 2 dishes with bacon & lobster and both were bland. Beautiful on the plate, many ingredients but just nearly tasteless somehow. A few other random mild disappointments just add up to us not planning to visit again. It was nearly empty on a weekend afternoon."

"Every time we are in the Healdsburg area we make a point of going to BarnDiva. We usually have lunch, though have had dinner once. Our meals have always been memorable. We have brought plenty of family and friends with us on these excursions and none of us have ever walked away disappointed."

"It was our first time dining there, and it won't be our last. Each plate was was a marvel on its own, and by the end of the night it was hard to pick a favorite when they were all aces. "Food was delicious although my companion thought the lamb entree was too rare. Tables are very close together along the walls so it was easy to eavesdrop - not good for intimate conversation. Wait and bus staff were very attentive. I would definitely revisit- maybe try out the charming patio for lunch."

"Food was delicious. Well prepared and well presented. We had lunch reservations but then changed our mind and decided to eat at the bar. Perfect! The bartender (Brendon?) made us lovely drinks and was knowledgable about the menu and offered great recommendations. Patio looked beautiful."

"Sonoma is filled with really fantastic restaurants. Each restaurant has its own unique flair. But, I found Barndiva just mediocre. The seating is odd, because a couple of two, sits so close to a party of 12. The server we had was just ok. He was very dry, in a hurry, not very personable and didn't seem like he wanted to be there. It was almost like he was counting down the minutes before he had to end his shift. And then the food came...the chicken was TOO SALTY. It was covered in salt. It was so salty that a couple at our hotel said the same thing, even without us prompting the question. I thought that was more than just a coincidence. I may or may not go back..there are so many good places to choose from."

"I took my wife here to celebrate our anniversary. We were warmly greeted and seated at a great table. Our waiter brought over champagne to celebrate our special occasion, which was very nice.
Drinks: Go with "Dealer's Choice." You briefly tell the bartender what you like and they whip up a drink specifically for you. I said "whiskey" and my wife said "refreshing, fruity" - we both loved our surprise drinks!
Food: We had the 6-course Winter Tasting Menu ($75/person), which was outstanding! We started with cauliflower soup, then jardiniere salad (all local, organic), then seared scallop, crispy pork belly, filet mignon and the best dessert ever! This was one of the best meals we've ever had in 10 years together. Service was exceptional!!"

"The food at Barndiva was off the hook. The presentation was true art. The only complaint was that it was not quite hot enough. Still tasted wonderful. For appetizers we had the Pork Belly (ridiculous) and the Beet Salad (beautifully and painstakingly prepared). Then the Filet Mignon and Rabbit. Both exquisite! For those over 50 the noise level made it hard to hear. Otherwise, a definite return visit!"
