An authentic Neapolitan pizzeria and Italian restaurant situated in the landmark MetLife Building at Grand Central Station at E.45th Street, Naples 45 offers al fresco dining in the warmer months and tantalizing regional Southern Italian specialties with friendly take-out service and gourmet brick-oven slices to go. Naples 45 was awarded the coveted certification of "La Vera Pizza Napoletana," in recognition of serving authentic Neapolitan pizza made with traditional ingredients, methods, and wood-burning ovens - one of only two such awards in New York City.
"We had a great couple of bowls of pasta. The service was very fast, surprisingly so. The server brought out a special appetizer of fresh mozzarella on the house which was delicious. Very convenient location to meet after work."

"Of all the restaurants clustered around Grand Central Terminal catering to the commuter and business-lunch and -dinner crowd, Naples 45 is the best choice. I have eaten there probably a dozen times over the last few years, and have always found it to be a casual spot with prompt, friendly service and good food. It's not cheap, but the prices reflect the location's convenience of being attached to the Metlife Building and Grand Central, and the food is actually quite good.
This is also a great spot if you have a group of 5-10 people - they have some large tables, and are always happy to combine smaller tables to accommodate. Added bonus is in the warmer months, they have an outdoor patio where you can eat or have drinks."

"I had reserved for a party of 8 and requested a round table. Although the restaurant was only half full, we were placed right next to the entrance between 2 pillars so that the waiter had to go quite a distance around the room from one side of our table to serve the other. The service was abysmally slow - 20 minutes after we were seated, we had no water and no drink order taken. I had to ask the maitre'd. Then drink orders were taken for one half of the table and not the other (see above issue) and this lack of service continued for the entire evening. Was also very, very noisy - couldn't hear across the table. Will never entertain clients there again and will spread the word that if trying to impress, Naples is NOT the place to do it."

"This restaurant has great Italian food right in the middle of the city, although very busy we dined on the patio which was very nice. The waiter was also very good."

"Very good dinner special. Squid ink pasta was delicious. Share a few small plates for your appetizer option (Great Option). All recommendations that our server made were delightful. Scarpetta wine is a great option on the wine list. Our server was friendly and very accommodating. Thank you for a great experience."

"The food and the service don't match the venue. It's huge - and very loud - with bright lighting. It reminded me of a cafeteria. Yet the service (and food) are comparable to any intimate fine dining restaurant. Would I go back? Yes, I think..."

"Usually tend to business breakfast with clients across at Centro. Naples 45 is a much better option. Service is fast and courteous unlike at Centro where you have to wait 10 minutes for coffee. Food is basic, but good for the options. Very large space. Will use more often for meetings."

"I was meeting an associate for a breakfast meeting at 7:30 AM. The restaurant opens at 7:30 and that was the time of my reservation. They opened the doors around 7:40. Granted I was doing breakfast here and the restaurant is more noted for lunch and dinner. Service was slow, food was barely warm and unexceptional. Not worth the money."

"We appreciated the free appetizer the manager sent to our table, but the noise level made the dinner into quite an ordeal. We had visitors from Austria whom we hadn't seen in years. We were unable to hear them. The food was okay, but two orders were mixed up. Very disappointing, as I had read great reviews. Maybe an off day??"

"We keep going back to this restaurant because the service and food are excellent. This last trip we were even offered a complimentary appetizer. Great value and we will be going back again and again!"

"A bit of a tourist trap with the prices to match, but the pizza and pasta are good. I would stick to those items on the menu and avoid the meat/poultry/fish dishes. I've been here a few times and there is one waiter who is great and a few others who are borderline rude. It's convenient if you're in Grand Central and want a sit down meal, but again, I'd stick to the pizza or pasta only."

"First time at this Italian restaurant where the food was well prepared. The pannacotta (sp?) was delicious! Conveniently located in the Metlife building of GCT, it is worth visiting."

"Joined Naples for dinner with my wife. They offer a $32 Three course Pre Fixe menu. What a deal in NYC! Wine list has very nice options. Ordered the Short Rib at the reccomendation of the server and it was spot on. We had a show to attend and our server was pleasant and professional. PS: Bar scene is vibrant."

"Hi, it is a lovely restaurant, and the service was superb. While the food was good, I was a bit disappointed that it was the waiter, not the chef, who had to figure out a special meal for me. I am a vegan, and the restaurant knew this in advance. We ate at 5:30, so the restaurant was practically empty. The only thing the chef could think of was plain pasta with tomato sauce. The waiter, on the other hand, took the time to go through the menu and suggest a very nice vegan meal. Most sophisticated chefs can handle special requests these days (especially when the restaurant is practically empty), and were it not for the waiter, my meal would have been so-so, same old thing."

"I came here for dinner with a friend of mine and had a great time. Everyone has always raved to me about how good their pizza is so we had to have it! Everyone was right, their pizza was amazing but so were the items off their menu. Everything was cooked perfectly. It's hard to find a stellar chicken Parmesan in NYC they nailed it, thinly pounded still on the bone what more can one ask for? The service was great our server was very knowlgeable of the menu and wines as well. Very friendly atmosphere, one of the managers checked in on our dining experience and even shared a cool story about the wine we were drinking. Personally it's things like that that I really do enjoy! A must go spot!"

"First off they weren't serving pizza they had a problem with their pizza ovens. I know things happen. I made the mistake of ordering the salad with chicken as my main meal. I had this once before and it was pretty good this time it was terrible. The salad called for avacado, pine nuts and they left those items out. It also called for apple which I asked to have left out and they did but they put in raisins. They re-did the salad and it was a tad better but hardly much to it mostly lettuce for $19. My friend had a dish of pasta and we each had one glass of wine and one cup of tea and the bill came to $74 before the gratuity That price is a disgrace for what we had. Maybe I would go back for just pizza but not even sure about that."

"It's a convenient and casual spot for ppl and groups to grab a bite and drink after work. But food is a bit salty for me and my group. The cocktail I had tasted a bit interesting; didn't match what I expected from its description mentioned on the list."

"This is my FAVORITE restaurant in NYC for Pizza and appetizers! I have been about five times, and each time is a hit! The service is impeccable and the staff is always friendly and pleasant.
In addition to a great location and great service, the Pizza is absolutely delicious! My favorite are the Piccante and Funghi. But the Margherita is just as great! I have yet to have anything here I didn't like! The Polpettine (meat balls), Arancini (risotto balls), Parmigiana (Eggplant parm) and Calamari are my favorite appetizers! The salads are very delicious too and I definitely wouldn’t pass up the red sangria!
This is a MUST eat at restaurant! Looking forward to my next visit to Naples!"

"It was restaurant week and having sampled several other restaurants in the past 2 weeks, this was the most creative menu. The eggplant parmegiana appetizer was absolutely wonderful. The main course selections were diverse and amply portioned. Desserts too. Will definitely go back and sample the spectacular pizzas that the restaurant is known for."
