"We have been eating at Brownstone for several years and the quality of food has really diminished. It looks like they do not have a quality chef to prepare quality food. We went there for Mother's Day and the food was awful. The tacos were full of gristle and not eatable and the other meals were of the same poor quality. The location offers good outdoor dining and atmosphere but we will not be back as the quality of food is the worst in the arts district."

"When we arrived we were told the kitchen was backed up for about 30 minutes. It was surprising as there weren't that many people there. We arrived at 6:45 and got our food at 8:10. I ordered the beef tenderloin filet and even though it was almost cooked correctly the steak knife they gave me was like using a butter knife."

"We drive 25 miles to celebrate our anniversary. Had reservations but it really was not needed. There were 4-5 people just standing around at podium. The coffee was extremely weak, so I asked for a cappuccino, but did not have any. I was surprised. My husband ordered hot tea and the box was empty except for 3 green teas which he did not care for. How can you start a Sunday brunch w no tea bags??? Seems like the manager could have made a trip to the grocery.. French toast was hard & tough, and the eggs & sausage was served on a saucer for kids. My food kept falling off the sides. No salt or pepper on the table. With the reputation of being the best brunch in Ft Worth it left a lot to be desired. Next occasion I guess we will head to Dallas!"

"One of our favorite places to patronize on West 7th; the food is always consistently excellent, and the service attentive. We do wish they had a few more "full-bodied" Cabernets to pick from, as opposed to so many "medium-bodied", and so many Merlots. Overall though, a very good place where a solid meal can always be found, along with lighter fare, and all of it prepared with detail and attention to quality and freshness."

"1st time at Brownstone for brunch on April 14th. Service was terrible. Tables close by were complaining just to get someone to take drink orders. Took at least 20 minutes to get our drink order. Seemed to be plenty of waitstaff but no one seemed to know who was doing what. Even worse, two waiters were seen serving those dining on outside and petting dogs of another customer that was dining on the patio. These waiters served food to others without even washing hands. Food arrived and it was not good. Had the french toat which tasted like cornbread. Eggs had no seasoning on them.
Location of restaurant has great potenial and the Brownstone looks like an upscale place. Poor management, bad food at least for Sunday brunch."

"It was one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. The service was horrendous, the food was inedible, and it was so loud in there we could not even hear one another talk. There was no manager in sight, and I contacted them the next day about our experience and NEVER heard back from them. It was terrible. I will not be referring anyone to the Brownstone, but rather deterring people from going there. Very sad that it was created by such a wonderful and renown chef to have these new owners (apparent club promoters) run it into the ground. Do not waste your time or money."

"I really like Brownstone and its atmosphere and have been about 3 times. We went on Easter Sunday this time and the service was extremely slow (most likely short-staffed in the kitchen due to the holiday)and one of our orders wasn't prepared properly, but management saw there was a problem and comped the meal. Very impressed that they did this without us having to say anything. I would recommend Brownstone because it has above average food and it's classy without being over the top. Great sitting area by the bar too!"

"Ordered an appetizer and it was taking awhile to come out. We found out why when our mains arrived & we asked about the appetizer. They were surprised and sorry and said it would be right out. We said we didn't want it & they said not to worry because it would be right out. Never saw it. When the manager came by to ask how things were we told him about the appetizer & he offered to make it up with free desserts. We accepted & my wife then asked the waitress for a coffee. It never arrived & when we asked, the waitress said she forgot. I also would have had a second beer, but no one asked me until after I had finished my main course. They tried to make amends, but blew it."

"When we arrived at 5 PM, there was on one table occupied. We requested a 4-square table by the window, but were told those were reserved for 7:30 reservations. We told them we would be out by 6:30 and asked if we could have one of those tables. We were finally given one. That was the only negative element and it turned out ok."

"Hostess & bar table-waiters were a little abrupt. A waiter came to our table, dished out cocktail napkins & asked if he could take our order. When we advised we'd just ordered from the bartender, he just walked away. Shortly after we were seated for dinner. Ishmael, our waiter, was friendly a&informative, ready to offer suggestions & kept our drinks fresh. We had the spinach/artichoke spread & skinny flat bread for appetizers. Both excellent. I had the baked manicotti with shrimp. The portion was plentiful (couldn't finish it) although the pasta was a bit undercooked. My husband's filet was gone in no time & while my friend didn't care for the pork tacos, I tasted them and found them yummy. It was a nice evening, but no bell-ringer."

"Started great, service timing was brisk but not rushed. Food was generally good for breakfast however the scrambled eggs and the sausage were exceptional and go onto the must have again list.
For some reason it all fell apart at the end. Something happened back of the house that threw everything off. Our server dissapeared along with most of the staff for an extended period of time, and the overall vibe became stressed. Nothing visible - just a feel. Took us a while to get our check after that, at several other tables seemed to be havin the same problem. The seating flow also seemed to be very confused, with people being seated and moving later.
Will try again - overall very good."

"I want brownstone to be great for lunch but it just isn't. It'a a convenient spot to meet people but up to now the food hasn't been the draw. On our last visit, the food was just edible and the service was terrible. There seemed to be plenty of wait staff but service was very slow. Our waiter seemed nice but inexperienced and no one helped him out. We'll be trying some alternate downtown brunch locations."

"The food was fantastic. It was comfortably quiet for visiting with nice music in the background. The service was a little slow, but courteous. There is a nice patio and a nice bar, but since we went for brunch on a cooler day, I'm unable to really comment on either. Will definitely return!"

"My husband and I went to Brownstone for a date night. Being graduate students we wanted an upscale experiencing without cutting off an arm and a leg. This is what we got at The Brownstone! The service was incredible, the food knocked our socks off, and it was in the price range we wanted! What more can you ask for?
What I really loved about it was that it was nice, but not stuffy. You could go with children, with a group of friends, or like us, on a date and not feel out of place. We cannot wait to take a group of friends there for their Happy Hour!"

"This restaurant is a great find. The menu is great - not too many options, but each selection available, in its own right, begs for you to pick it. I ate lunch at Brownstone on a Wednesday - had the Bison burger. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had. My lunch-mate had the pomegranate glazed chicken - both dishes were excellent. I was very impressed by the entire experience. I will definitely go back - and have already recommended it to a plethora of my associates and friends."

"The menu was top notch. One could tell that the chef was inspired to create dishes that were unique. I asked for a bit less spice on my spicy shrimp with pasta and got just what I wanted. The okra apetizer was fantastic, unexpected and something that I don't think I would find elsewhere. The potato tots, however, were the same as those offered by Sonic, unsurprising and mundane. The service was excellent, except that a heavily condensing water glass caused a small puddle, on the table, that remained for the entire meal. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone willing to pay a bit more for a great, innovative meal."

"We went in for a weekday lunch. I had the lunch special that day, which as very good, and my husband had the "spicy" shrimp pasta. The sauce was too hot for our tastes, but I guess we should have asked how hot the dish was or the server should have volunteered the information. The Brownstone is a good place for a business lunch and the noise level is such that you can actually have a conversation."

"Service was slow. We arrived at 625 pm received water immeadiately but it was another 10 mins before our waiter came to the table. He rattled off the specials so quick and started to walk away when I asked to order wine. When he brought the wine back we asked him to repeat the specials. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms app. It was not very hot and the mushrooms were not cooked through. The entrees were great. I had the chicken stuffed chicken on Jalepeno jack grits my wife had the pork tenderloin and spinach. The waiter bragged on the homemade desserts so we ordered the banana pudding and creme brulee. Dissapointment. The pudding may have beencooked but flavored with banana extract the creme brulee was the banana pudding with a carmel top"

"I enjoyed my meal very much. The restaurant was quiet and the service was excellent. The only complaint was that my section was too dark and I could barely see the food on my plate. "This, our first visit since the original chef left, was disappointing. The menu was less-interesting. My pomegranate chicken was so tough I could barely eat it! The chopped salad was fine, but not memorable. The buffalo hummus was so spicy there was no chickpea or tahini taste to it at all. My wife could not handle more than one bite! The drinks were fine, but not special. The noise level was high considering that the restaurant was not especially busy. The lively acoustics made noise a significant factor. Some sound absorbant materials could fix that."

"The Brownstone was a pleasant place to sit and visit for a couple of hours, but we would have enjoyed our dining experience more if we had actually been served food at some point. We had reservations with another couple for 11:30 AM. They arrived 10 minutes early and we arrived at 11:40. We ordered shortly thereafter, and approximately ½ hour later were told that our order was “next.” Our waitress was professional and apologetic, and a manager came out at one point, apologized and repeated that our order was “up next.” Table after table left and we still hadn’t been served. We had tickets for a 1:30 museum showing, so we had to give up and left shortly after 1:00 PM."

"Great food! Made the mistake of asking for hot tea (not on the menu) and was shocked to see a price of $4.95 on the bill. At first the server said "welcome to the Brownstone"....then he said it was probably left over from the days when they were more upscale and that he would mention it to the manager. Never offered to take it off the bill though."

"I found Brownstone to be very good. The ambiance is excellent as soon as you walk in you get the atmosphere of being out for the evening. The food was good to very good, depending on whom you ask, of the four of us two stated very good, the other two stated good but bland, not enough salt or seasoning. It was a little loud but it is a large restaurant. Overall very good and I will return."

"It was my first time to brownstone, and we were very disappointed. Let me say the service was great! She kept our glasses full the whole time. But the food was bad. We started with the chesse and bacon tator tots. Lets just say they were the best thing we had that night. I had the chicken fried steak. It was overcooked. The meat was reduced to a small piece of burned grizzle. the mashed potatoes were good and I had the mac and cheese with crawfish, and it was ok. My wife had the fried chicken and grits. The chicken itself was ok. But the grits were burned. It was like the had been sitting in the pot to long. The didnt look burned, but when you tasted them they had a really bad burned taste. Ruined the night and wont be back."

"We started with some puffed okra for a starter. The okra was crisp and tasted great. The chipotle ranch was not as flavorful as I was expecting, but was still an excellent compliment to the okra.
Next we shared the chopped salad. It was HUGE! The greens were crisp and the mixture of walnuts, raisins, blue cheese chunks, and vinagrette was outstanding. After it arrived, we figured out that this was a dinner salad and after finishing it, we probably could have left with full bellies.
The entrees were good(pork loin & spicy seafood pasta), but a little on the bland side after the salad. I think they forgot to spice my spicy seafood pasta.
The restaurant was a bit noisy on a Saturday night, so don't expect a quiet dining expeience."

"I took my wife there on a Monday night at 8:30. The music was low and the atmosphere was quiet. Then at 9p, the music got turned up way too loud. My wife and were shouting across the table. A small crowd showed up to get loaded on specials and community. It turns out that they recently started staying open until 2a on certain evenings to reach out to people in immediate area. My wife eats gluten free and they offer several GF items, so she had the salmon with roasted potatoes, and I had Sammy's pasta with two large scallops, because they were out of shrimp. I also had a house wine that went well with the meal, suggested by our server. Our server was great! He knew exactly how to make us fat and happy!"

"A friend and I dined at Brownstone for brunch. We began our meal with a chicken flatbread that was quite tasty, and I recall the crust having a nice toothsome texture to it. Our table was not set with silverware when we were seated and it did take a bit of time to get silverware and share plates for the appetizer. For our entrees I had the roasted pork enchiladas with salsa verde, fried eggs, and feta. The dish was quite tasty with a very nice amount of spice to it. The pork was tender but I felt that the pork itself was a little bland, and I personally could have done without the vinegary hot sauce drizzled on top...the salsa verde was flavorful enough. My friend had the salmon, which was good. Creme brûlée could have been much better."

"Purchased a groupon last month for Brownstone however hadn't had a chance to visit since it was only redeemable for Fri and Sat. Per Groupon we made our reservation and arrived on time. There was no problem being seated and greeted. The Restraunt was very slow considering it was 6:15 and Happy Hour was supposely taking place. We were greeted by our waiter whom was very attentive and nice. We advised him it was our 1st time there. The food is pricey and its not what you would expect for the prices. The drinks were expensive and there was no Happy Hour Specials in the open dining area. Only at the bar. To sum it up we spent $89 plus a $30 Groupon. Total was $119, plus tip of $15 for 2 people. This included 3 cocktails, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees."
