"Food was great. Our waiter was attentive. I ordered a glass of wine. He brought out the bottle and let me try a taste. I didn't care for what I had ordered, so he brought out another bottle for me to try. That one I like much better. Everything we ordered was very tasty."

"amazing food. pretty loud (was a busy night) so you have to not mind yelling a bit. our waitress was very busy and there were some delays in service, but she was incredibly nice and was a very positive experience overall on a very busy night"

"We love Al Vento for dinner but their brunch has become our Mother's Day tradition. The selection appeals to everyone in my family. From waffles and a chocolate fountain for the kids to smoked salmon, goat cheese and panzanella for me. The "Boozie Brunch" option provides bottomless mimosa, screwdriver and/or bloody mary."

"This is my third or fourth time at AV, and it was great. For starters, I had the mussels, my dinner mates had the beet salad. I had the pork tenderloin with polenta and the others had the hangar steak. All were pleased with the food. Decent portions, not microscopic. Tiramisu was great, too. I sat in the annex at the back and it was a tad noisy, but not a big problem. I will be back."

"Though it was a weeknite, and we dined early, it was very busy! The veal scallopini was excellent as was the asparagas bruchetta. My friends declared the beet salad memorable. Wine choices are varied and excellent - as are the prior to 6 pm 1/2 price options.
The back room gets very noisy when filled with diners - hard to carry on a conversation!

"We love coming here for the food and also for the warm atmosphere. We had the steamed mussels, bruschetta sampler, and halibut. On past visits we've walked away raving about the good food. "But the food was extremely slow coming out, think they forgot our order. Table next to us order same time and received their food in 20-30 minutes, we waited 40 minutes between salad and entree. Manager made up for it with one comp wine but damage was done. Food was great when it finally came, place reminds me of many neighborhood Italian places in St. Louis on "The Hill"."

"I am trying to get my 60 year old parents out of their "Friday night" routine, which is dinner at one of three restaurants and going to bed by 10. For the last few weeks I've been finding new restaurants to take them too. They LOVED Al Vento. "We've gone for brunch and dinner. The brunch is kid-friendly and a great value, given the good selection and excellent price. The food at dinner is even better. Pizzas are well planned and executed, pastas go beyond the usual. Al Vento is a great neighborhood restuarant. Note: They have torn up their outdoor patio and are putting in a four season sunroom/porch. It will be very attactive and multi-functional, but there is a some construction around the restuarant currently."

"Went on a special promotion to aid a charity on a Thursday night. We were very pleased with our food, an olive appetizer, beet salad and main courses. I had a delicious Manila clam fetucchini dish (lots and lots of clams in the shell) and my wife enjoyed her ravioli. We arrived early, at five o clock, and when we left a little after six the restaurant had become packed. Service and wine were both good."

"We had a group of four for fine out for a cause. While we thoroughly enjoyed our food, wine, and the setting our waiter was horrible. He checked on our table maybe twice, we had to flag him down on more than one occasion, and he managed to misplace our bills and credit cards for about twenty minutes. Thankfully other staff at Al Vento were amazing and more than picked up his slack - he however needs to go ASAP!"

"Tuesday night is date night. The place was filled with people but yet didn't feel crowded nor to loud. The service was spectacular. A 4 course meal with 1/2 price bottle of wine, what more could you ask for? Portions were just right for all the courses. If you on the hungrier side I recommend just order off the menu. "This was not our first time dining at the restaurant. And once again, we had an amazing experience!! The service was superb, and the food was fantastic! It was a Tuesday night with the $20 Date Night special, and the restaurant was packed! We still had a great evening! Our table was not ready, and we went to the bar for a drink. It is small, but we still were able to get a drink. We then were going to be seated by the door. My husband asked for an inside table, and the hostess was more than accomodating. We waited just a few minutes, and were then seated.it was a wonderful night."

"Needed to find a place for dinner and not too familiar with this neighborhood - decided on Al Vento because it had gotten great reviews. They were right! First impression when walking through the front door was 'huh?' because there was a large curtain hanging there - were we supposed to walk through it? Had we come in the wrong entrance? We pushed through and voila! there we were in an adorable restaurant. (I am assuming the large curtain is there to minimize the cold air coming in) Service was great, they had 1/2 price bottles of wine. The Caesar Salad was wonderful - homemade dressing (a little too garlicky - I could still taste it the next day, but it's hard to complain about too much garlic:)Dinner also very good! We'll be back!"

"My wife and I decided to try Al Vento, because we're frequent diners at Sparks, a sister restaurant in our neighborhood. We chose Tuesday "Date Night" to celebrate our upcoming anniversary. "I was pretty disappointed with my experience at Al Vento initially, but thankfully we had a great server!!! I had a reservation for 4 for a 12:30 Sunday brunch. Two friends decided to join the party last minute. I tried to call around 11:00am on Sunday to ask if they could accommodate 2 additional guests. On my 5 time calling an hour later I finally got an answer from who I think was the manager. He said it was no problem at all to add 2 people. When we got to the restaurant we were told by the host they could not accommodate us for at least another 20 to 30 minuets. We were obviously upset at that point. Had we known there would be a wait we would have simply told our friends not to come especially considering the restaurant does not have"

"Arghhh. We are al Vento veterans and have never had anything like this experience. We sat there with menus for over 20 minutes without a wait staff visit. Appetizer was finished & gone for another 20 minutes before main order was taken. Entire dinner lasted well over 2 hours - not because we lingered (we are - and were again this night - very sensitive to those folks waiting to be seated) but because of disruptively sloooooooooowwwwwwwww service."

"Food was terrific. It was Tuesday night - Date Night - so we had a four course meal that had surprises and simply good tastes.
We felt largely invisible as the busy staff (needing to take care of too many tables, perhaps? It seemed an unusually busy Tuesday night) dashed around the room. The hardest part of the evening was waiting over 20 minutes for the cinnamon caramel gelato that was very tasty, but very late.
Staff tried to make it up to us with a free drink, but we were ready to go home.
Having only experienced attentive, helpful service at Al Vento, I think it was just an off night.
We'll be back."
