Firehouse Restaurant is a central and southern Italian inspired restaurant located in the historic Dekum Firehouse in NE Portland. We offer seasonable fare using sustainable fish, meats, and produce whenever possible. We use a wood-fired oven, rotisserie and grill that emphasize technique, seasonality, and a simple straightforward approach to food. To us, there are few things more beautiful than a well-prepared meal in a warm and inviting setting. We hope to see you soon!
"Everything we ate was delicious. The spring salad was especially outstanding, but everything was very good. Can't wait until the patio is open again!"

"Great restaurant, really love the overall decor/aesthetic. The food is delicious, and the waiters and staff are super helpful. We asked if we could move to a table outside, and they helped us right away. It was super warm with the pizza oven blasting, but it makes great pizza, so there is little to really be upset about. Overall, it was a super pleasant experience, I had a great time and had some great food. I would definitely recommend Firehouse!"

"The wood fire oven puts out amazing food, and the pizzas alone are worth going for. The service was incredible, some of the best in Portland. A true Portland neighborhood restaurant that lives up to the city's reputation for outstanding restaurants."

"The Firehouse is absolutely a neighborhood gem and has outstanding food and service. Steven, our waitstaff, is superb. It was my sister's birthday and Steven made her feel quite special without embarrassing her like you get when the staff at other restaurants sings Happy Birthday (yuck).
We had a variety of menu choices and no one was less than completely impressed. We live a few blocks away and we are often there for Happy Hour and dinners."

"Went with a group of four after making an on line reservation. The table was ready upon arrival and a server immediately greeted us at the table requesting drink orders. The service moved along at a good pace, without rushing us. The menu selection, while more limited than some restaurants was good and the items we ordered were delivered hot and well presented. Over all quality and quantity were excellent. Pricing was reasonable."

"All I can say is that this place great. The food is great, I had the hanger steak and my date had the margrita pizza. The staff was very attentive, my water glass was never empty. The price was fair too. While yelp lists it as being romantic I'd say its not. We arrived early and even though the reservations were for six pm they seated us at once. The only drawback it very popular and could make it difficult to hear what somine was saying. That said if I lived in the neighborhood I'd eat there all the time."

"Our waitperson, Steven, was excellent, "waiting" patiently while we caught up before actually ordering. He was very helpful as neither of us had been there before. The food was delish. Love the fried olives, and the pizza was perfect. Things other customers were getting looked wonderful. I wouldn't recommend it if one uses hearing aids as the acoustics are a bit questionable, though not BAD, and the WC is in a bit of an odd place, but overall the the place is great. Comfortable and friendly and I look forward to going back, especially in summer to sit outside!"

"Went there on a get together with friends that had just returned to town. This was our 4th visit and it will not be our last. We ordered the calliflower appetizer that was outstanding, two of us had the Romaine salad that was crisp and well presented. Two of us ordered the chicken, we also had the sea food dish and a pizza. All were excellent. The service was the best I have seen in Portland in a long time. The price was reasonable and the atmosphere lively but did not affect the ability to hear conversations at our table."

"This place is refreshingly solid on all aspects: food, service, and ambiance. My only wish was for a nice stong espresso after my great meal, but that won't prevent me from coming back."

"We had the loveliest meal of our lives here two nights ago, March 2013. The food is amazing, artfully crafted. The drinks are delicious. The atmosphere is authentic, beautifully designed, upscale yet comfortable. The smell of the wood-fired oven takes you to another place. The servers are upbeat, kind and completely attentive.
The other patrons all seemed as happy as we were and we left feeling like we were on top of the world! We are having an event here this summer and we are completely delighted we got to choose Firehouse.
In addition to crafting fabulous edibles and serving it with the finest of class, they are very organized and intentional."

"For as highly rated as this restaurant is, we were totally disappointed in the food. The pizza was soggy and tastless and the hanger steak was cooked perfectly but overly salty. It is a very nice place and tried very hard to like it but just couldnt do it..."

"We'd gone to Firehouse a few times before, but had always had pizza, which is great, but this was Valentine's Day, so we went for appetizer, salad and entree (all shared of course) and they were all outstanding! We had a really great dining experience and I would definitely recommend this restaurant."

"Two of our four member party ordered Manhattans (sp?)..tasted them...knew something wasn't right...debated about sending them back...did...the bartender looked at them and immediately knew they were wrong AND what was wrong...mixed new drinks...admitted the goof....everyone lived happily ever after! P.S. The food was great, too...we actually ate dinner from the appetizer menu!"

"Really wonderful place with wood burning oven for pizza that made the place smell like you were camping. Lovely atmosphere, very attentive staff. Thin crust pizza to die for."

"After having a great group dinner here in the Summer I decided to come back for a date night with my boyfriend. We had a *wonderful* meal. Great glass of wine and cocktail, great pizza to share and then our two staggeringly tasty entrees. The food here really is wonderful. The one bummer was that we had a late-ish reservation on a Saturday night, and some of the menu items were unavailable when we arrived. No matter, as everything we had was amazing anyway. Service was a little slow getting drinks out in the beginning of the night when the place was still quite busy. But our server was very friendly and attentive, and the pace of the meal was perfect once our orders went in. I would recommend this place to any diner."

"Great Happy Hour, but that wasn't the reason I went. But it was a nice suprise. The food was very good, the service great ( maybe a bit too great- our second server came to the table too often, I thought. Was she trying to get us out- I can't think that was the reason because there were empty tables, unless they had waiting reservations .) I liked the atmosphere, and my friend commented on the aroma- the woodfire cooking wafts throughout the resturant."

"Might be slipping a bit, over the last year, from outstanding to just good. For instance, we have had a few experiences of too salty---and I like salt---also, just little issues... this time one of the small plates was woefully undercooked. But, we don't care. We love the Firehouse. It's so great, even, that it could slip some more and we would barely notice. Anyway, the pizza is better than ever."

"This is our first visit to this establishment. We ordered Brussels sprouts and the rice balls and both were good. The two pizzas we ordered were both burnt black on the bottom of the crust and with burnt black bubbles on top. I understand they were cook in a very hot wood burning oven, and some burnt spots are acceptable, but 85% burnt is unacceptable as the burnt taste overpowered an otherwise flavorful pizza. Our table was one of two corner tables, due to the configuration and wall divider of the other corner table, we could hear that party's conversation loud and clear, which was annoying. There is an empty courtyard in front which could be outdoor seating in the summer. This restaurant has street parking only."

"This was our first time to Firehouse, and it was definitely worth the trip from Beaverton. I was worried as we were running late and had a couple of additional people in our party last minute, but a quick call to the hostess and she adjusted our reservation and table accordingly.
The food was outstanding and service was attentive and bent over backwards to accommodate everyone and their needs. The mussels are very impressive (we ordered one to start, and subsequently reordered 2 additional plates!). I really liked their pizza and house sodas. Thank you for the great experience!"

"The wood fire oven was very inviting. The cauliflower starter was delicious. I had muscles which were wood fired but I thought somewhat underseasoned. My husband had the hanger steak which was delicious. Pizza looked wonderful and I will give it a try if we return. Our waitress was very unfriendly and acted as though she might be doing us a favor. It did impact our feeling about our evening. The restaurant itelf is very inviting. We have not yet decided if we will return."

"Firehouse is that cozy and quintessential neighborhood restaurant that one can rely on for good food and service most every time...and in a lovely setting to boot. Historically, the host/servers seem to take pride in their work and enjoy going out of their way to make guests feel welcome. Our server the last time was adequate, but definitely lacked the "luster" usually seen. Interactions with the rest of the staff were the joyful baseline, so maybe she was just having a bad night. My one request is that the menu change a little more often. We've dined there a number of times since moving into the neighborhood and would like to see a little more variety."

"My Husband and I went for his birthday. We really loved it. Had the fried olives and potatoes to start and a delicious pizza, topped it off with desert. Everything was great. Beer menu was on the small side for Portland but had a variety (IPA, Red, Amber, etc). The restaurant is small so for a group I would make a reservation. Has a cute patio but not sure if it is used for dining as we went in January. Loved it!"

"Best pizza we've found thus far in Portland! Also, those mussels are a signature treasure; we loved the simplicity, which let the quality ingredients shine! Also, this is one of the few places on the east side where we haven't been treated with at least a slight of air scorn and hipster holier-than-thou waitstaff attitude. We will definitely be going back."
