An Italian expression that means “little shoe” -- or the shape bread takes when used to soak up a dish -- Scarpetta represents the pure pleasure of savoring a meal down to the very last taste. The restaurant’s seasonally-inspired Italian dishes offer farm-fresh ingredients and clean, earthy flavors that pay homage to Conant’s heritage and time in Italy.
"As vegetarians we often find that the more upscale a restaurant is the less likely there are vegetarian options. Not only does Scarpetta have a few options slipped into their regular menu, but they have a separate page of vegetarian options that offer a number of starters as well as a selection of entrees - and all very creative (not a veggie lasagna to be seen). And when we asked about a vegetarian dish, the server realized we were vegetarian and immediately slipped the bread basket off the table as one of the lovely bread selections included meat in the stuffing - which he had explained upon delivering the bread basket so we were fully aware. And the service was impeccable - very friendly, prompt, and not intrusive. Well done, Scarpetta!"

"We are big Scott Conant fans, and we've been wanting to get to a Scarpetta for a while. Service was stellar the whole time- never left hanging. The Wine Menu was very extensive, while we didn't partake during our Mains, we did during desert. Overall the food is excellent! My wife is Vegetarian, and the separate Veg menu is a very welcome sight! For our app we shared the Fried Veggies- very good. For our Mains- she had the Rosemary Braised Lentils, and I had the Whole Wheat Tagliatelle (from the Non-Veg side). Both were excellent! The cooking of the lentils and pasta was perfect. For desert- we shared the Amedei Chocolate Cake with Orange Caramel Gelato, and a glass of local Ice Wine (hard to find in our travels). We'd definitely go back!"

"Scarpetta is amazing! Every dish that we had was delicious. I especially enjoyed the SEARED SCALLOPS (celery root & lentil-pancetta vinaigrette) and the WHOLE WHEAT TAGLIATELLE (wild boar ragu & whipped ricotta). My husband loved the CREAMY POLENTA (fricassee of truffled mushrooms) and the CAVATELLI (sausage, porcini & taggiasca olives). The service was top notch as well. We cannot wait to go back the next time that we're in Toronto!"

"Food was very good. Beet salad nicely presented and appropriately sized for a starter. My friend enjoyed her scallops which were perfectly seared. We both enjoyed the well-prepared black cod.
Not impressed with the valet service this time. I parked my car in front and was not greeted by valet as we were last time we dined at Scarpetta. Two of them were just standing there at the entrance as I came in. My car stayed there for awhile and I decided to park it myself across the street ($10 vs. $20 valet)."

"This was my fourth time at Scarpetta. While the polenta and mushrooms was as good as I recall, the spaghetti with tomato sauce was not as spectacular as last time --they seem to be slipping on this signature dish. Scallops were great. The steak was just okay -- not sure why a specialty Italian restaurant added a steak menu.
Bar service was very slow before dinner. Basil lemonade cocktail was disappointing -- very little basil flavour, or lemon flavour for that matter -- all for the low, low price of $15.
Wine list is decent. Service is doting, but strangely over the top.
I hope things take a turn for the better, as I'd hate to put Scarpetta on my list of restaurants that I don't go to."

So fun and knowledgable and always right there when we needed him - treated like royalty an ate like them too - chefs tasting and wine pairing JUST PERFECT!!
Not cheap by any means but worth the visit if you can afford it!
Would recommend without a doubt!"

"I went to Scarpetta with a group of about 12 for my birthday dinner. Overall the restaurant had a great atmosphere and ambiance. The food was excellent and the presentation lovely. Prices are high, but I believe the quality was well worth it. There was a slight issue with the billing as two of the people in my group weren't billed correctly and the host had to cover the cost of their bill. We then had to confirm through our credit card companies that we hadn't been double billed. We were only billed once, but it would have been nice if the individual bills had been dealt with more efficiently in the first place. Other than that overall great experience!"

"I was recommended Scarpetta by a friend and it was everything and more. The staff were attentive and great advisors when needed and the service was superb. The food was excellent. I had the scallops as a starter and the pork as an entre and it was wonderful. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful time. Frank"

"This ain't anything like Scarpetta in NYC. Scarpetta NYC is flawless for the moment you arrive until you leave.
Scarpetta in the Thompson Toronto just cannot pull it off though I must say the who ever is buying the wine is doing an incredible job of putting together a phenomenal eclectic list with something for everyone.
Other than the name and menu you would not know the two restaurants are related. The service was mediocre for a place like this. Our server when asked for recommendations for example how is the duck responded good if you like duck. He was hurried to take our orders. Not sure if the bar tender could make certain drinks.
The food again was mediocre at best. The signature pasta was underwhelming. The duck wa"

"had romantic dinner with the wife. we felt over all the place was very good. dinner was nice. location is great. we had couple of drinks before at the bar just outside the restaurant at hotel lobby which were expensive but lots of fun (over $60+ for two drinks each!)
for wise, we had to start the firtto misto, the braised beef and the creamy palenta. the last two were very good, super nicely presented and very tasty.
with the fritto misto we had huge issues. we take this dish often all over the place and this one must have been way way worse. to start it was 90% vegis that where all cut way too small and where way over cooked...hence they were all falling a part and very oily. we manage to find 2 pieces of squid and 5 or 6 little p"

"The service at Scarpetta was excellent from the minute we walked in. Our server was attentive without being pushy, gave us his honest opinions and recommendations (which I always appreciate) and the food was AMAZING! From the bread basket to appetizers to our pastas to the dessert, every bite was delicious. Our group intended on getting 4 appetizers and 4 pastas to share, but we each only ended up getting a bite of each other's dishes because no one wanted to share. I highly recommend the butternut squash soup which has a unique presentation and taste, along with the casonsei and spaghetti pastas. Would definitely come back!"

"I went back to this restaurant because they had a $45 3-course winter special going on that my friend wanted to try. I was hesitant has a few months earlier, they had unceremoniously cancelled my reservation due to a larger event and had to clear reservations for it. I have never experienced that before. Poor management. I will never forget it and will look upon the restaurant in a different light and have stopped recommending it."

"The food was excellent, and that was during Winterlicious. Decor is odd and coldly club-ish, with a background of 80's club music (and a little loud for my tastes). However, it is worth a visit just for the food, I will pick my guests carefully, but would like to go back."

"We loved it. Food was amazing - polenta with truffled mushrooms was delicious as was the sea bass. My husband is still raving about the pork tenderloin. The chocolate cake for dessert was unusual and a chocoholic's dream - we both wished we had room for more of it! Portion sizes were perfect! The service was impeccable - the staff has been trained to do their jobs properly while maintaining a friendly rapport with the guests. Although we were there for Winterlicious (great value!), we were treated with the utmost hospitality by everyone. The staff added to the total ambiance - a very pleasant meal, in a beautifully designed and decorated room. We would highly recommed Scarpetta to anyone."

"I have been to the Scarpetta in Miami and absolutely loved it. When I visited the Toronto location for Winterlicious, I wasn't as impressed.
Food - Braised Short Ribs of Beef - Just as I remembered it, tender and delicious. - Striped Bass - Over cooked, not smooth and the parsnip puree was too sweet. Nobody was impressed with the bass at my table.
Service - Everyone was friendly and nice - We sat in the round couched seats and the servers served our foods from behind us. We didn't like having our dishes come from behind us or over our shoulders.
I would not recommend anyone to visit Scarpetta during Summer/Winterlicious BUT I would go back during regular menu."

Food was good. Their bread is good and warm and so tempting when you're hungry and waiting for food to come. Got the famed polenta as an appie. Truffled mushrooms that come with the polenta were so good, I could have eaten a whole plate of that. The short braised ribs the bf got was tender, flavourful, and juicy. For mains, we got the sea bass, which was only okay, and the bf got the pork dish which was good. I couldn't finish my main because I was full by then. For dessert, got the chocolate cake (way too sweet) and the cheesecake (good).
I really liked the atmosphere and the attentiveness of each server. The "pitboss" also came by once to check on how we were doing. N"

"The food was good but when considering the price point, disappointing. Although the prices compare to the finest Toronto restaurants, the food falls short. The service, however was very good. What we found offensive however was that although we were advised upon arrival that there would be a plating charge to serve the birthday cake we had brought, we could not have anticipated the $24.00 charge to plate four (4) slices of our cake (on four plates), garnished with a few berries and chocolate sauce. We have eaten at some of the finest restaurants in Las Vegas, Phoenix, San Franscisco, New York, Toronto and Chicago and overall, we found the restaurant to be extremely overpriced."

"Unfortunately I was very disappointed with Scarpetta. I`ve been looking forward to dinning here for sometime as I live in the neighbourhood and pass by it often. I had read some positive reviews about the Chef and hoped that it would be an outstanding experience. The food was good but nothing special and certainly not worth the price. I found the food to be rather bland. You could get far better food at many other local less expensive restaurants.
If you go to Scarpetta it would be more for the ambiance, it is a beautiful setting. I was a tad disappointed with the service, however, as it was not up to the standard I am accustomed to. Everyone was very polite but I did not feel as though the server was paying attention to us."

"Overall the experience was poor. I chose Scarpetta for Winterlicious because its menu looked good and I was willing to pay the top prix fixe price ($45) for it. The food was good, but in miniscule portions even for Winterlicious. I had to make myself a sandwich when I got home. I also chose the Classico flight of two wines for $25. Each glass was 3 oz. or less, which means I paid 1-1/2 to 2 times the price that you'd expect to pay in a good restaurant(but the wines were good). Plus the waiter insisted on pouring the second glass before I'd started the first. The general feeling was that the serving staff were trying to move us through dinner and out the door as quickly as possible even though the restaurant was not crowded. Not recommended."

"Dining experience at Scarpetta was one of a kind. Ambiance was amazing, especially after seeing the wine collection. The dining room was very energetic yet I felt very relaxed. Food was very flavourful, especially the spaghetti! Never had a simple spaghetti tasted so unique. And the cheesecake with thyme leaves, perfect."

"For Winterlicious, I had the polenta with mushrooms (to die for), a very good sea bass and a molten chocolate cake. My dining partner also had the signature polenta and a pork tenderloin roulade (excellent flavour and texture).
We ordered the famous spaghetti with tomato sauce and basil but found it underwhelming. Whoever assembled it should remember that cheese is already salty and adding salt to the dish creates a sodium overload."

"I thought the restaurant was very romantic. I went with my boyfriend for Winterlicious and we had an amazing time. Our server was perfect. Its annoying it have servers that keep asking you how everything is going and trys to make small talk, but our server was amazing. As for the food, we loved the braised short ribs of beef, it was delicious! The tenderness of the ribs was mouthwatering. The location is quiet. We went on a sunday evening so the area wasn't full of clubbers. Perfect night to enjoy each others company. Overall, we left happy and will be coming back for more!"

"I specifically chose Scarpetta over other upscale restaurants because of their vegetarian menu.
Sadly, I was extremely disappointed. This is not the place to go if you are a vegetarian.
It's very frustrating to pay a lot of money for meals that I could have made significantly better at home. "Crispy vegetables" on the appetizer menu is simply tiny slivers of two kinds of vegetables, deep-fried and smothered with salt. There were also many slivers of batter that were just that - batter without any vegetables.
The lentil dish, as a main entree, was under-cooked, bland and full of salt as well.
On a positive note, the strawberry/citrus sherbet dessert dish was full of flavour - without a hint of salt!
I will not be returning"

My kids love the pasta there. Al dante with The beef tenderloin I had on New Year's Eve was PERFECT! It's juicy, tender and flavorful! The appetizers were wonderful. We had scallops & creamy polenta. Both were very delicious. I love their panna cotta & Amedei Chocolate Cake! The gelato was awesome too!"
