"I read a bunch of reviews for Bin 54 before we went, and they all said, "Too expensive!"
I thought to myself, "Well, of course! It's for special occasions!"
But, honestly, it's way too expensive for what it is. I was expecting to pay less than I do at Heron's at the Umstead. I ended up paying $100 MORE. Not worth that price, if you ask me."

"Our experience at BIN 54 was absolutely wonderful! The food was delicious and our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. The general manager was very professional and very helpful. We've traveled the world and have been to many restaurants. Bin 54 truly stands out!! Can't wait to go back."

"From the moment we walked in, our host, Bronco, was extremely kind and attentive. We were seated right away. Our server, Troy, tended to our every need and was accommodating. The rest of the staff was also extremely accommodating. The food was out of this world and the desserts were incredible. Everyone there made a birthday celebration extra special! The Bin 54 has become our #1 favorite restaurant in Chapel Hill!!!"

"Color me really, really impressed. I finally got around to taking my wife this past weekend and... wow. Exceptional service, great ambiance, and fantastic food make this a no-brainer for a special occasion. There is simply no finer eating establishment in the Chapel Hill area. I can't say enough about the attentive staff and top-shelf presentation. Now, it isn't exactly cheap--and by that, I mean it's quite expensive--but this is a prime example of "You get what you pay for." The New York Strip was as good as they come. And get the crab cake appetizer; you won't regret it."

"On Monday we decided to dine at an old favorite and were disappointed. The service was terrible. If was after 8:00 p.m. and there were only six diners at two tables. Everything took forever: ordering wine, ordering the meal, being served. The intervals between courses were long enough to make you lose your appetite. A simple dinner (salad, steak and fries) took two and a half hours. The reason was a private party (perhaps 15 guests) in another room where we could see plates flying in and out the door. This should never happen in a good restaurant. We have dined at Bin 54 numerous times and the food is really good with a nice wine list. The service has never been this poor and we hope it will improve."

"I have many allergies and it is really rare that I can get anything in a restaurant other than a very plain steak and steamed vegetables. The steak was great and the sides were truly delicious! We will definitely return."

"I have always experienced a superb dining experience here. This night we were a bit late for our reservation for 5 which at the very last moment turned into a party of 7. Graciousness abounded and within a few minutes we were comfortably seated in a room of our own. Our server, whose name I forget ( a lovely blond young lady with a pony tail)was very competent, and down right delightful"

"The steak was to die for, however the sides fell a little...well a lot short. You just can't do that at those prices. Not sure if we'll be going back. Sorry guys we really wanted to dig the place too."

"We had a fabulous dinner from start to finish! I was a little unsure of how noisy it would be from reading some previous reviews, but I didn't think it was at all too loud. My husband and I didn't have any problems hearing or talking to each other, and the room was full. We did hear a young child crying, and do not think this is a restaurant for young children. Parents should have gotten a babysitter or found another place to eat. Our food was so delicious. Portions are healthy, so we split a crabcake, grilled ceasar salad and lambchops entree. Everything was amazing. We will definitely be back!"

"Innovating a few new things always keeps a long and loyal customer coming back...the grilled caesar salad was awesome, but the lobster gnocchi and brussel sprouts complimented the fine wine and perfectly prepared filet! Even the manager, Bronco, hobbled around and served us wine while rehabbing his torn ACL from skiiing in Austria....all great!"

"We ordered a wedge salad and ate it but it was not the best we've ever had. Some of the lettuce had brown tips and some of the lettuce was extremely yellow which meant the lettuce was not the freshest that it could have been. For dinner we side of scalloped potatoes and unfortunately the potatoes were black on the bottom. They offered to replace the potatoes and we did not have to wait too long which was good. We ordered a 14oz NY Strip Steak and it was a bit chewy so it was disappointing. It tasted like it had a membrane running through it (fat or grizzle). I had been at the restaurant previously (business) and was excited about taking my husband there. The prices are not cheap and it was disappointing. Not sure if we would return."

"Bin 54 has been consistent in both food quality and service. Many "fine" restaurants in the Triangle are hit and miss.
Since their menu is basically steak, and fairly expensive, we go there for special occasions, knowing that we will have an evening of good quality food and excellent service.
It would be nice if their menu was a bit more varied or they had more diverse specials.
I always find most of the side dishes way over-salted."

"First time at Bin 54, dinner was lovely & food was great. Second time — the night of the UNC-Duke men's basketball game — the place was a madhouse! While you couldn't hear your table mate, the food and service were still excellent. Especially recommend the creamed spinach casserole & the banana pudding! Nice choices in wines by the glass, too. BUT THE BEST THING: taking Mom along on this trip, I sent a note with my OT reservation asking for a menu without prices, if possible — and Bin 54 delivered! Turns out the manager had edited their regular menu and printed special copies for us! I had forgotten the request until Mom noticed the priceless menu — I was completely charmed."

"We've been going to bin 54 for a few years now. They always provide the most amazing food, no matter what I order. I usually order the filet mignon, which comes cooked perfect and seasoned just right. The Brussel sprouts are so delicious, I always force my friends to try them; everyone becomes an instant fan of this underestimated veggie. The bartenders are very friendly, creative with original drink recipes, and always seem to know what I want before I do. If you want an affordable, quick meal out, order a burger and fries at the bar and you will be amazed."

The bar drinks were perfect - I little ice on the top of our Martini's; the cork fee is reasonable at $25 and the service and attention from the Wine Sommelier made us feel special. The food was the best part. Seafood was fresh and the chef didn't feel the need to pour so much sauce on the scallops that the sauce was all that could be tasted. The steaks - best, by far from any place within a hundred miles of Raleigh.
The service was attentive without being over bearing or neglected.
Bin 54 gets a 10 our 10!"

"Pre-fix menus on big days like Valentines Day are supposed to streamline and speed up the kitchen's ability to deliver. Our experience was the opposite as we arrived at 6:30pm, ordered by 6:45pm, got our first course by 7pm, then got our entre at 8pm. One or more kids were now tired and upset...waiter did his best, filling our wine glass but that didn't change the experience. Ate fast...got dessert by 8:20pm and hurriedly paid and left. 8:30pm. Many things could have been done better...hope they learn from this...."

"We had reservations at 9:15 and were seated promptly but didnt have anyone so much as look at our table for almost 20 minutes! We the server arrived she was very polite but tended to dissappear for 15 min. Periods throughtout our meal. The food was good but not great considering the cost. The mixed drinks were great and fairly priced."

"We had an early Valentine's Day dinner, service was great. We tried the Margarita for two, made with 150 year old Grand Marnier and Patron. Had a bottle of Champagne with dinner. I had the Lobster Gnocchi to start, delicious but rich, fiance had Foie Gras Mousse, serving was bigger than expected. Took it home, still tasty. Next course were salads, Spinach & Goat Cheese and the Iceberg Wedge, not anything special, presentation lacking. Filet Mignon and NY Strip for entrees, both cooked in between rare and medium rare, still utterly great. Marbling on the Filet was BEAUTIFUL! No desserts, too full. Beautiful space, one guy at the table next to us was rowdy but hey, that's part of the restaurant experience. There's other people!!"

"To say the food at Bin 54 was phenomenal would be an understatement. Hands down, the best lamb I've ever had in my life. The filet was also fabulous and was cooked to perfection. The cheese and bacon grits are a MUST! I've been craving them since my dinner there. This restaurant is in a different league than other steak houses in the Triangle."
