"It's sometimes hard to find good quality sushi in a larger sushi restaurant, but ROK has some of the best sushi in the Southbay. I've been eating here since it was Club Sushi and I believe (or so I've been told) they kept the same chef's. This is great for a date night, place to grab a quick drink at the bar or sit at the sushi bar with some friends and enjoy the energetic ambiance. This all goes without being said that the service is great and very friendly."

"We had reservations but the restaurant didn't seem full until we left. We were seated right away and ordered appetizers. The shrimp & vegetable tempura was delicious, not oily at all. We ordered 2 specialty rolls, the philadelphia & one with soft shell crab. Both came quickly. It was a large roll so when it was cut there were over 8 pieces each."

"We ordered the Texas roll, the Philly Tempura roll, the Efren roll, and a seafood trio appetizer. Washed it down with raspberry sake. Everything was delicious."

"Some items are amazing - spicy edamame, surf and turf roll, la lakers roll - along with the specialty cocktails. The Dynamite left a lot to be desired as did some of the cooked sushi rolls. Overall very good."

"The reservations and hostess system were MESSED UP on our visit. We waited 45 minutes for a table with a reservation. The server did the best he could to make up for aggravated customers and the manager comped a dessert which was nice but didn't buy the time back or solve the frustration for waiting so long. This was definitely not normal service for this establishment."

"Fun place, attentive waiter and manager. Great location, great food, fresh and creative. My only complaint... a bit loud/ kind of like a sports bar setting."

"At about 7:30 PM Friday evening, I tried to make a reservation for 2 for 8 PM, but the 1st available opening wasn't until 9 or 9:30 PM. We went straight to the restaurant anyway and was able to get a spot right away (we got there about 8. There were several tables available and plenty of seats at the sushi bar). The sushi chef was great. He was very friendly, funny and accommodating. The waitress service was just "okay", but the place was pretty busy and the sushi chef was taking good care of us, so it balanced it all out.
The sushi and sashimi was "good", except for the Uni (sea urchin) which didn't seem very fresh. Other than that we enjoyed the experience."

"Food was awesome. Had several types of sushi roll and spicy edamame. However, waiter dropped food and left, hardly checked up on us. A manager came by near the end of the meal and did ask if everything was ok, and we discussed the lack of service and were offered a free dessert (which was declined), so perhaps this was just an issue with that waiter. We had also requested a "quiet table" in our reservation, but the whole restaurant is pretty noisy. We could still carry on conversation though."

"The food was good but the prices for what you get....WOW! Very expensive! I have had better Sushi in the South Bay for the price. Hermosa Beach in general has turned Hollywood with Hollywood pricing. What happened to the laid back beach experence?"
