"Have been here twice; the 1st time for an anniversary dinner with my husband & the 2nd for lunch with a couple of lady friends. Both times the food was superb & the service excellent. After dinner, we mentioned to the maître d' - Sergio Re - that he had been the manager at the hall where we had our wedding reception 23 years previously and how pleased we had been with everything then. He was excited to hear this & called his wife (one of the servers) over to meet us. Then, for dessert, we received a wonderful selection of Italian cakes & whatnot with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate around the rim of the plate. Such a nice touch! The 2nd time was for lunch & it was great too - delicious spinach salad & gelato for dessert. Yum!"

"You want to treat yourself? Then go to Violino's. They will spoil you with excellent attentive service and excellent italian food to soothe your soul. From Pasta to meat and fish they know what they are doing. Everything is so fresh - nothing pre fabricated or pre-processed. Enjoy!"

"Located in a large restored character home, divided into comfortable smaller areas to give a comfortable feel. Elegant, and the food is gourmet with a strong Italian flavor. A much better experience for us than the much busier feeling best known restaurants in Edmonton, and although the parking lot was full, the restaurant never felt crowded. A wonderful find and a new favorite for us."

"Service was really slow! 2.25 hours for a business lunch that started at 12:30. There was 17 people in the restaurant at the time so not sure why it took so long. Doggie bags were all mixed up so I threw mine away. Disappointed."

"I have dined here before and always enjoyed it. I thought I'd be dazzled by the Pranzo but I was not. I prefer their general menu. The setting is absolutely lovely and the service is extraordinary consistently. I just would prefer their general menu to pranzo."

"It was fabulous!
I wanted to do something special for my girlfriend's birthday and the food and service at Violino's totally knocked her over. She said she could not remember the last time she was treated so well. I enjoyed the fact that they brought a dessert with Happy Birthday written on it, and a sparkler, and I did not even ask for it.
We will definitely be back!"

"The service was very poor. Our reservation was for 8:30PM, and within 10 minutes we had to order because the kitchen was closing (on a Saturday evening). We were rushed all night, and the servers were not helpful with the menu or the wine. The server spent more time cleaning the tables beside us and crumpling paper, than asking if we needed anything. Incredibly disappointed for a restaurant that was rated "Top Italian Restaurant in Edmonton" by Avenue Magazine. We will not be recommending this restaurant to any friends or family."

"Overall, a very nice experience. Excellent spelt and green salad; exactly what my wife's diet needs. The Fettucini con Pollo alla Crema was delicious, and we enjoyed the tableside preparation in the flaming asiago. Slightly disappointing that the kitchen was out of the Conchiglie and I don't think my wife liked the Spaghetti Roma recommended by the waiter. The goat-cheesecake for dessert was delicious, but my wife complained she couldn't taste the goat cheese. The service was very good, the waiter handled our Entertainment coupon and gift certificate expertly."

"Went to Violino's on Saturday night with 3 couples for 2 birthdays. I had the braised short ribs on a bed of mushroom risotto. Both parts of the dish were excellently prepared, quite flavourful and the presentation was top notch. For dessert we had the chocolate cake which was good but not amazing and I don't think it was prepared on site. Service was professional and attentive but not hovering. The rest of the group also enjoyed their meals with the veal parmigiana also looking particularly good."

"I have been here several times and the food and service is always amazing. The wine list seems to have shrunk a bit since my last visit but still has some great wines. "The tables are very close together. The food was not very good and overpriced for what it was. We went on Valentine's Day and prior to making our reservation we asked if there would be a set menu. We were told that there would be an option to choose off the main menu or the set menu. However, when we arrived and asked for the main menu, the waiter was very rude and said, "we would prefer if you didn't order off the main menu" as he rolled his eyes at us. When the food came out it was bland, luke-warm, and didn't taste fresh."

"Took my hubby there for valentines day. We were not disapointed! Better than expected. Wine was alittle expensive but hubby is worth it. Didnt feel rushed just welcomed. Sending my parents there for their anniversary. Will be returning for sure."

"We went here for Vday, 2013. Nice, quiet setting, looks like the inside of grandma's house. The food was very interesting, not awful, not amazing, but we left full. The service was amazing, wine list was very extensive. Would have liked to chairs spaced out a little more, but over all we had a nice romantic evening."

"My husband and I had a wonderful Valentine's day dinner here, we ordered the crab cakes and quail wrapped prosciutto to start and they were very delicious and flavourful. The food was paced and so we didn't feel we were rushed which is a nice change from the hustle and bustle of other restaurants. I had the halibut with truffle crusted mushroom and the whipped potato, this meal was to die for! I can still taste the whipped potato in my dreams. Great evening and wonderful service."

"When you walk in you have impression of finding yourself in a cosy warm room. The very first thing that struck me was the quietness of this place. The music is set very low and it is very easy to talk. Very romantic setting with outstanding service and good food makes it a memorable visit."

"I have been to this restaurant on more than one occasion and it has always been great. THeir Pranzo is exceptionally great as you get a HUGE meal for $22. The osso buco is the best lamb in the city, hands down."
