Commissary is a very casual cafe, lounge, liquor, beer and wine bar as well as a coffeehouse and smoothie bar. We serve breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, snacks and a huge selection of desserts. We have a lounge area, outside cafe, strong take-out presence and free wi-fi. We offer a diverse, simple and inexpensive menu; from breakfast all day to Sandwiches, Salads and Pizza all day and night and a dinner selection that kicks in at 5 PM. Wheelchair and Handicap accessible. We accommodate most common food allergies. Happy Hour is available every day from 4-7 PM at the bar and lounge and weekdays on the patio from 4-6 PM.
"The Commissary, like its sibling, Logan Tavern, is a great place for a casual dinner. We usually stop by before going to the Studio Theater. The restaurant can be noisy, so an outdoors table is best if you want to spend time conversing."

"But I was hoping for more. Its generally a little dry I've been for brunch, lunch and dinner. I've never had anything I would even think about sending back, but nothing that I would recommend either. Its convenient and if you sit outside, its great for people watching."

"The atmosphere is great. The noise level is perfect and the lighting is really warm without it being too romantic or sleepy. I tried mac and cheese and the veggie burger, both were delicious. Drinks were excellent, they have a great list. Dessert- wasn't too impressed with the brownie sundae honestly but the ginger cheesecake was great."

"Fun place. Outside table was perfect for people watching. However our "no worries" waitress seemed to forget about us for vast periods of time and chicken snitzel which she recommended was very, very oily. But pals were pleased with the stuffed mushrooms and brats. Serving of fish was microscopic while bread pudding portion was monstrous. I recommend but order wisely."

"Stopped there for dinner before a lecture at the Carnegie Institution of Washington across the street and down a block. Arrived about 5:30PM on a Tuesday night and found not much of a crowd, nor much noise. Server was excellent--graciously accommodated a request for table change (to the lounge area, for happy hour) and a small menu substitution, served beverages and food promptly, and processed the check promptly when so requested. Veggie burger was significantly larger than the bun upon which it was served, and came with a small leaf of lettuce and a small slice of tomato, but tasted pretty good. Caesar salad with anchovies was tasty, as was my selection from what's on tap. Enjoyed the free (but slow) WiFi while waiting for food."

"Great kid-friendly place for dinner with my family and two kids ages 9 and 5. A plus is the great beer and varied sleection of appetizers and cool location in Logan Circle. Dinner menu leaves some things to be desired, and kids menu needs to be revisited, but overall, a fair dinner."

"Came here for dinner before a birthday get together down the street. Food was good, the fried pretzel icecream balls were SO good. I really loved the neighbourhoody feel of the place. Service was alright - had a reservation for 4 and someone jumped in at the last minute so I didn't have chance to call ahead and it caused a bit of a rukus between the waiter and the host while we were all sitting down, but it got worked out! It seems like it would be a great place for lunch and especially a good brunch on the weekends."

"Had lunch with a business colleague. I had a burger with side salad and it was cooked perfect and tasted great. He had the chili and seemed happy with it. If you are in the neighborhood it's worth stopping in."

"We went with a group from a meeting we were having in DC (about 15 people) and unlike NYC restaurants they were happy to seat us before the whole group had arrived. The service was great - really great food at a good price. Definately worth a visit."

"We tried Commissary before Studio Theatre and found it surprisingly quiet. the food was quite good but perhaps not GREAT, and our server was very good. Just seems like a fun, relaxing place and we will definately go back in the near future."

"Commissary accommodated our large group of moms and babies in strollers without missing a beat. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious and the menu broad enough to satisfy many different tastes/dietary restrictions. Drink refills were timely. In the end without even being asked they delivered separate checks and processed them efficiently so we could be on our way to our class on time. They even pointed out that they'd already added tax and tip. We were so please many of us added an extra tip on top of the automatic gratuity. We will be back!"

"It was good but disappointing, or average. Food was under flavored, they sat a 5 top next to us which made it so I couldnt get out as the chair rested against our table, The service was outstanding --- It seems to me that the kitchen lost it passion for flavor nad food. It was like being at an Applebee's"

"Had to wait 35 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. Staff didn't seem to care - especially the front desk person who was actually pretty rude. The food, while decent, was not worth the wait."

"We had dinner here on a Wednesday night. My friends were in from Orlando on business and wanted to go somewhere local. It was my first time at Commissary, and I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't too crowded, our server was attentive, and the food was great. I'm vegan, so it's nice to go to a place that has some vegan options, and the veggie burger was genuinely delicious. We also started with a hummus platter, which was fantastic. My friends had a pizza, the salmon, and a stuffed portobello mushroom, and they all raved about how good their dishes were. They also shared the bread pudding for dessert and said it was excellent. I'd definitely go back. Very laid back, good food, friendly service."

"Table of 4 had great food and good service. The only downside maybe were the tables with the bench seat were too close. We had a table for 2 on our left and a table of 4 on our right. The table of 4 were spaced good, but the table for 2 were a little close. Regardless, we had a great time!"

"Commissary never disappoints! The atmosphere is always wonderful and the staff welcoming and attentive. They never rush you out the door. It's a wonderful place for a snack, coffee, or a drink or a great meal. My favorite menu item is the fish tacos, though they periodically add something new to try."
