Everything “a bistro should be”, this “delightful” Mamaroneck French bistro earns praise for its “approachable” menu of “heartwarming” fare, “excellent wines” and “inviting” atmosphere. “Warm service” and a “wonderful spirit” makes it a “keeper”; P.S. the Thursdays 3-course mussels special and the prix fixe daily lunch and dinner (Mondays-Tuesdays-Wednesdays) are “the big bargains” here.
"Le Provencal was incredible. It was a true example of fine dining, and so close to home too! I was surprised to find such an elegant and comfortable place right on the avenue. I took my girlfriend to Le Provencal for our first anniversary and I'll admit I had hopeful expectations. Those expectations were exceeded in the gorgeous ambiance, the friendly and perfectly appropriate service, and the marvelous food. One thing we both noted is how fresh the food tasted, and yet how quickly it came out. The restaurant was fairly full but somehow it seemed nobody really had a long wait for their meals and that is always lovely. All of our food was cooked to perfection and beautifully plated. We would both definitely recommend it!"

"We had our Mother's Day brunch at Le Provencal last Sunday. The prix fixe menu was $55 which includes appetizer, entree, dessert and coffee. We had crab cakes, smoked salmon and musclun salad for our appetizers. They were all freshly prepared and tasty. For our entrees, we had grilled scallop, steak au poivre and lobster salad. Again, everything was done to perfection. The only complaint was the lack of lobster meat (only one claw) in the salad, which did not justify the additional $8 charge. The desserts were generously sized. The wait staff were friendly and proficient. Our only complaint is the slow service. There was a 40 minute wait between the appetizers and entrees."

"Disappointing; appetizers (mussels for mw and foie gras for her) were very good, but the entrees were not worth the evening. The coq au vin was overdone--almost burned--and the lamb chops consisted of 4 tiny chops drowned in an oversalted sauce. Noise level only slightly lower than most places these days. Service only fair, with long waits for most things."

"My friend and I went for a last minute brunch Easter morning as I have been wanting to try this place! Our reservations were for right when they opened, and the team working was pleasant and in good spirits. We both ordered the brioche french toast, which was perfectly portioned and delicious. The decor is lovely and the place is bigger than it appears from the store front. I will definitely have to come back to try for dinner as during the warmer weather their front patio is always adorable and I am a huge fan of outdoor dining!"

"We went to the Bistro on a Thursday. The server was knowledgable, but seemed to be rushed despite the restaurant not being crowded. The food was very good up until the entrees. Then I would say it was good but not fantastic. I should have taken the hint when my server said, "oh, you like curry?" That in this case, I wouldn't.
We ended up ordering 2 half bottles of wine, which was a nice option for us. It is a nice place, that maybe reaches a bit too far on occasion, but it is a treat overall. I would not dissuade anyone from going that wants a nice French meal and doesn't want to drive to NYC. Be prepared for some lackluster service. Our waiter was adequate and polite, but not particularly attentive."

"Don't want to say how great it is - it's already hard enough to get a reservation at this fantastic, welcoming and warm restaurant with its varied regular menu, augmented by amazing specials. It does get pretty loud, however, once all the tables are occupied."

"It's great when you can find a place that hit the spot exactly what you're craving and that's exactly what happened here. My wife and I had a small French restaurant in manhattan we would pop into and although hectic and chaotic we'd always leave with a smile. Having moved out to WP, the taste and feel which we missed were nicely replaced at Le Provençal. The crowd is on the older side, there were decades between us and all neighboring parties, but the food was spot on. Service was ok, forgot my salad, but the waitress took full responsibility."

"This restaurant has seem to have gone downhill. The mussel soup was lukewarm and bland. The $32 scallop special was very disappointing, as 6 broiled scallops (a few burned), does not warrant the cost. I have eaten here several times, bu8t I think not so much again. My wife's Jon Dorry was mediocre. it could have been any fish. Who know?"

"We usually have a very good meal here. My pasta was mushy and tasteless. The others at the table enjoyed their fish and meat dishes. Always a good standby."

"Everything we ordered was well prepared and delicious. The restaurant can get crowded and the tables are close together . The dining room has two levels - causing the wait staff do to quite a bit of running up and down and back and forth. This can be a little distracting if you are sitting on the upper level near the stairs. All in all it was a very pleasant evening with a good selection of specials in addition to the menu."

"I have been to Le Provencal many times. The food is always excellent and the ambiance of the restaurant lovely. While the service can be a bit slow at times they more than make up for it by being very pleasant. The owners are always there and they are welcoming and always appreciative of their patrons."

"Reliable, classic, delicious French fare with pleasant, accommodating service. The only place I can take my very choosy mother and guarantee the dining experience will match her very high standards. We have gone there for her past 4 birthdays, and she is never disappointed."

"A lovely classic near the train station. Imaginative, well-prepared food - not trendy, in nice portions. Comfortably elegant, with attentive service and warm Belgian host. Even when crowded, great for conversation."

"Food and service are excellent, but it is noisy, and my last two visits have placed us next to screaming kids (not infants), which may not be the restaurant's fault, but made for a lesser dining experience."
