Established in 1881, the Lake Elmo Inn has served countless meals in its 129 years. Present owner John Schiltz has been a part of that tradition since 1983.
With a reputation for great food, service & charm, the Lake Elmo Inn has won many awards: Best Brunch in the Twin Cities for the past 21 years in a row, Top 10 Restaurant, Favorite Special Occasion and awards for our desserts, wine list, & service as well.

There is a lot of history within the Inn. Many great collections: salt & pepper shakers - 3000+ sets, crystal decanters & vases, carved ducks & no one decorates like the Inn at Christmas. It's worth the drive just to see it. 124 Nutcrackers and over 60 snow globes, thousands of ornaments... just to name a few.

"The food was very good for a Mother's Day weekend brunch. The service is outstanding and accommodating to make a very pleasant morning. Although it was a very busy day for them, there is no pressure to leave and the buffet tables are always completely full."

"We brought our nephew and fiancé to Lake Elmo Inn (our favorite place!) for the first time. We all LOVED everything--wonderful service (including the young man who packaged our leftovers), food, and ambience. Hubby and I especially enjoyed watching our guests as they experienced what I consider their "dining experience." It was absolutely delightful!!"

"From the ease of making our reservation through the end of our meal everything was enjoyable., Our waitstaff was outstanding and everyone greeted us warmly and the service was perfect, yet not fussy! Meal was very good, tasty and filling portions! Lake Elmo Inn has special touches that make dining a memorable experience...sherbert to cleanse your palate, warm towels to wipe your hands at the end of your meal and chocolate covered strawberries to end your meal!! It was a wonderful evening."

"We celebrated my Mother's 88th birthday at the Lake Elmo Inn's Sunday Brunch. The setting was excellent as was the food. All four generations in attendance had a good time and all enjoyed the experience. The service was good and the hosts accomodated our special occasion so smoothly that you knew they have done this many times and know how to do it well."

"We love dining at the Elmo Inn. The food is always excellent, and the service is excellent.
We had the Special Steak Diane. It was perfectly done, melt in your mouth tender and good tasting. A real treat!

"4 former co-workers and I met at Lake Elmo Innn for lunch. As retirees, we looked forward to seeing each other and reminesing about past experiences working together. One came from Hudson, WI, one came from S Minneapolis, one came from New Hope and 2 came from Wyoming, MN. Lake Elmo Inn was a good rendezvous point. 2 persons got delayed and did not join us until 45 min. had past. In spite of the delay, the wait person was very patient and accommodating.
Once everyone was together, we were treated to a fine meal with great atmosphere. We were able to visit and share for 2 almost hours without being rushed. The wait person could not have more gracious in serving us. The food was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our time together."

"Lake Elmo Inn never fails to meet my expectations. Two of my friends joined me for an early dinner last Monday evening.
On Mondays, Senior citizens receive 25% off of their check before 5 pm. I had the large broiled shrimp with asparagus along with a salad.
Shrimp tasted delicious with drawn butter, asparagus was done perfectly. We were given a small cone sorbet before our entre and chocolate covered strawberries after dinner. A nice warm towel was presented to us to cleanse our hands as our meal ended.
These small courtesies are what makes the Elmo so quaint and special. Judy our server was excellent, friendly, knowledgeable and very efficient. I'm glad we have this "gem" to experience what dinner out should be.

"I had the broiled shrimp which was excellent (not over done), however, I don't like the shells being under it as sometime I would get a little piece of shell in my mouth with my shrimp - would prefer just the broiled shrimp on the plate with the sides. I have not been pleased with the veggies that come with the meal - used to come to Lake Elmo Inn esp. for the vegetable medley - squash, carrots, pea pods, etc. I didn't care for my wild rice on Sat. 4/27 also because it was way too salty. My husband did have the potatoes au gratin - they were yummy and he had the special halibut and it was excellent. These are just some of my suggestions, however, I love coming to Lake Elmo Inn! LEW"

"My husband and I come to Lake Elmo Inn on very special occasions. This most recent visit to celebrate our sixth anniversary. The food is excellent and priced appropriately for the type of fine dining they offer. The lemon sorbet to cleanse the pallet between courses, the chocolate covered strawberry at the end of the meal and the warm spice scented "clean up" towel at the end of the meal make the whole meal an experience. My husband remarked to me after our visit "That's it - we are never eating steak at home or anywhere but here ever again!" That is how delicious the food is here."

"It's been a number of years since I've last dined at the Lake Elmo Inn. This was a much improved experience - the food was prepared with fresher ingredients and with much more care. "Overall the dining experience was a bit disappointing. The menu selection is terrific, service is outstanding, but the fare itself left us with only an unfulfilled expectation.
The four of us each expressed a less than enthusiastic "acceptable" rating after leaving. There were no specific complaints to lodge with the management but, considering the $45/person cost, there was also no dining satisfaction to express. I don't anticipate planning another occasion there."

"We usually just go to Lake Elmo Inn for special occasions because it is a bit pricier than other restaurants. However, now that we qualify for the senior discount, we will be coming more often on Mondays. We always have excellent food and service."

"The food was outstanding for a breakfast buffet- fresh, healthy and hot. The best I've had recently. Servers kept the champagne flowing throughout the meal, which I appreciated very much. Seating was comfortable and had an elegant feel. The actual buffet area was easily cramped when the rush of people came, and the after-church crowd left a lot to be desired. The kids were afoot and loud, and the lines of people didn't move real fast. Once I could fill my plate and take refuge at my table, all the chaos was forgotten. Next time (and I plan to have a next time) I will come at a later hour, hoping for a bit more serenity."

"6 of us had a birthday celebration lunch for 3 birthdays in March. The strawberry chicken salad and ravioli were excellent. We were treated to nonalcoholic champagne for the birthdays. A nice touch! Desserts were wonderful as usual."

"We were seated for about 15 minutes without being acknowledged while tables seated after us had been addressed 2 or 3 times by their waitresses. When the food came out, the gulf shrimp was barely warm and the walleye could barely be cut with a knife. We brought out of town guests and were very disappointed. Please pass this on to Lake Elmo Inn."

"As always, Elmo Inn was a delight. I love the little touches that set Elmo Inn apart. The tiny cones of sorbet to cleanse the palate before the main course. The hot, cinnamon scented towel after the meal. The huge hand-dipped strawberries to sweeten the bill. The Elmo Inn experience is wonderful."
