Paciarino
Welcome to Paciarino, an authentic Italian dining experience where fresh pastas and sauces are made daily. Paciarino was opened in December of 2008 by Fabiana De Savino and Enrico Barbiero. They decided to move their family from Milano to Maine to start a new chapter in their lives and to bring authentic Italian cuisine to the Old Port. Since their opening they have been written up in the Boston Globe, The Phoenix, Portland Magazine, and numerous online periodicals all raving about the Paciarino dining experience. "We eat at Paciarino every time we are up in Portland. It is one of our favorite pasta restaurant. The staff is friendly, and the small wine list is reasonable, and goes perfectly with the meals. I would highly recommend this charming restaurant."

"I visited Umbria two summers ago and this was very much like those dining experiiences. The kitchen is in view and the experience is high quality food seved on Italian pottry in a someahat sparce setting. Great reasonable wine list, cocsisting of smaller less known vineyards enhanced the meal."

"Unfortunately, our experience wasn't quite as great as it has been. There were 2 bottles of wine that we chose that they were out of. And they were out of meatballs which doesn't sound like a problem but that is the only meat in the menu. We were there to celebrate our sons birthday and they also were out of the dessert he requested. The food was still excellent but for the first of our 5 times dining there, we left disappointed."

"As visitors to Portland, we went to Paciarino on the advice of friends, and were not disappointed. We ate there twice, in fact, because the food and wine were excellent and the informal setting suited our casual mood. "My fiancée and I had a great experience at Paciarino, one of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time. I had a special, the four-meat ravioli, and it was the best ravioli I have ever had and one of the best meals I have had in recent memory. My fiancée had the goat cheese ravioli. She said it was good but was not quite as enthusiastic as I was. We shared the caprese appetizer, which was also quite good, as was the bread. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere, at least more casual than we expected. Our server was great. We will definitely be back."

"If you like home made pasta, than this is the place. Excellent ravioli and spaghetti with bolagnase sauce. Good salads and cheese plate.
But, there is only pasta dishes for the main course, so if you are not a pasta lover this is not for you."

"This was our fourth visit to Paciarino. The food is outstanding every time. Because of our Italian heritage, we are especially critical of the preparation and execution of menu items claiming to be Italian. "Paciarino is my favorite Italian restaurant in town. I would describe it as upscale casual. They specialize in homemade pastas, sauces, and simple Italian preparations. This is a place that stands on the merits of perfectly executed food paired with wise wine choices over any trendy fad. The ambiance is quaint, open, and nice. The servers are always nice and knowledgeable. It is the type of restaurant Harding Lee Smith wants to create, but doesn't have the palette to pull off. No hype, just quality food."

"Food was great. Ambiance was lovely. My only beef was with the note on the table about needing to vacate in 90 minutes. That works if food is served in a timely manner -- which seems a little hard with your approach to great food. I was embarrassed because it really irked my friend's husband -- and I was the one who chose the place. It kind of put a damper on the evening. We had three courses and felt silly as time ticked by and we knew we were expected to leave. I loved the food, but would think twice with that scolding note on the table...I would recommend the food any day -- with a warning to diners about the silly note they may find on their table."

"Average. If we were in the neighborhood and looking for Italian food we might stop in again, but we wouldn't make a specific trip. The food was like you would find in any good Italian restaurant, but with less choices. It has a limited menu. The food came warm (like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for awhile) and the service was poor. We stood by the front desk for a good 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged us (then it was a waitress that asked if we had been helped) and at one point I sat for 15 minutes with an empty wine glass before our waitress came around to ask if I wanted another. Not the end of the world, but the place only has 20 or so tables. Seemed disorganized."

"Six of us had a very nice dinner this past week. I would go for a later seating if you want to relax a while as it's very busy early on. We arrived at 6:30 and were able to stay past 9 without feeling rushed out. Great server who was up on the wine list and we all had great meals."

"This place is great. The food is simple but somehow trancendant. Our waitress was so lovely.the pace and style are Italian, the menu is limited but they make everything on it to perfection. Don't expect to get in get seated get out. It's meant to be relaxed, enjoy."

"Fresh, homemade, authentic Italian pasta in an inviting atmosphere. Small and cozy but big enough space that it does not feel crowded or noisy. The food bursts with wonderful flavor. If you like fresh pasta at its best, this is definitely the place for you. And, the prices are moderate and reasonable for a night dining out."

"It was ok, I would probably give it another try at some point. The capresse salad was really good but my pasta dish was unimpressive. If your not a wine drinker then your options for a beverage with alcohol are very limited."
