Cookshop presents the ideal combination of great American food, prepared by Chef Marc Meyer, warm hospitality and meaningful design to west Chelsea. At the heart and soul of Cookshop lies the owners’ commitment to bringing an honest seasonal dining option to New York City coupled with an exceptional beverage program.
"We had a full three course meal and the food was remarkebly good.. Sat outside which was somewhat noisy as your next to 10th avenue (but what else would you expect sitting there). The duck breast with a fresh mix of veggiea was a nice surprise..! Would certainly recommend this place to others.."

"I have had lunch many times in this art-world hangout and have enjoyed their fresh menu and savory approach to American classics. However a recent supper was a disappointment as the poussin entree was clearly made earlier in the day, zapped for quick reheating which killed the taste (it was served piping hot only minutes after our order was placed). It was also greasy and the outsize portion unnecessarily heavy. I am sticking to their salads and lighter dishes from now on."

"4 of us had dinner here on a Saturday night. We all had different dishes and everyone really liked what they ordered. Service was very good and we were not rushed at all even though the place was crowded. I would highly recommend this restaurant in the heart of Chelsea and High Line Park."

"Fresh farm-to-table is the specialty at Cookshop. The tasty food, friendly service and casual hip ambience make for a good venue for brunch, lunch and dinner."

"Seriously, the food is great here - healthy and thoughtfully prepared. Arctic char was savory and the roasted beets on a wooden plank with homemade yogurt were a complete charm. As an afterthought, we ordered dessert and it was a stunner. Cookshop delivers with great food and a very friendly staff. Enjoy."

"From the smiling maitre d' to the outstanding flavors of the arctic char dish that I ate, I loved this new-ish restaurant which is already deservedly popular. Will definitely return to sample more, including from their eclectic beer list - our helpful waitress recommended a great brew (good wines too according to my dining companions). But the noise level is high. Maybe next time I'll try dining outdoors which despite 10th Ave traffic might be quieter!"

"I very rarely rate restaurants with all five stars, but the meal we had at CookShop the other night was fabulous. Everything from the service to the appetizers, entrees, and the most amazing desserts were top notch. I have been here a bunch of times, but my most recent visit was by far the best! They are changing their menu all the time, so it's always fun to try new things. Also have a great variety on the menu of salads, pasta, fish, meat, etc."

"The kitchen was slow with our main dishes. The staff apologized and gave us free desserts, which were delicious and a very nice gesture. The food was great, as usual."

"My partner went there for dinner with coworkers and had a great experience..several days later we went back and it was horrible...service was slow and non-responsive....we got a bad batch of wine...food was fair at best....
I troubles me when a restaurant is hot or cold, great or terrible...it means you are rolling the dice every time you go there...and at those prices I'd like a safer bet."

"We got 3 different brunch items amongst the four of us...and we all really enjoyed the food. There was a nice variety for a brunch menu. The service was also very good. A pet peeve of mine is when restaurants clear away your plate while others at your table are still eating. They came to take mine and saw my friend still nibbling, so they walked away. Very respectable! Would definitely go back and maybe try dinner or another meal menu."

"Our experience at Cookshop was fair, though I can't say we are in any hurry to return. The food was strong but the service was severely lacking. Our server was cordial but not nearly as attentive as necessary. There was about a 30-35 minute gap between when we finished our appetizers and when we received our entrees. A wait that long will be overlooked and even forgotten if the food is outstanding, which it wasn't. It was good, but nothing extraordinary. The $20 burger was unseasoned and lacking flavor. Those poor grass-fed cows, what a waste. The scramble with smoked trout was delicious as was the chicken liver mousse and beignets. Overall, good. Not good enough to warrant a return trip for dinner"

"fabulous food, first-rate service---our waitress even found out for us the make of the beer glass in which the IPA was served (Libbey 150)--very special. we spend the weekend trying to figure out how to order them for our home. Our reservations was after-theater, at 10:30, and they seated us when we arrived a bit early, did not hurry us (nice, as were were hosting out-of-towners). Just terrific."

"Better for brunch, unremarkable for dinner. Would not return for dinner. Had to wait 30 minutes in crowded entryway for our table to clear to be seated (9pm reservation, sat down at 9:35) They brought over a pizza as an apology, which was nice, albeit a little strange, would have preferred a round of drinks since we weren't sure what we wanted to eat yet."

"At first I was a little nervous because the lunch menu was limited. However upon receiving our appetizer, a pulled pork croquete, we were pleasantly surprised. The combination of pulled pork, sliced apples, radish and grits really worked! For my main dish I had the trout which was so fresh and perfectly prepared. I would definitely go back."

"Major disappointment. It was crowded and loud. When I made reservations (for a Tuesday night, mind you), I didn't expect to be stuck at a bad table. The food was overpriced and the portions were laughable. I ate here a few years ago and I don't remember it being this bad. The bread at the table was too salty. Maybe I'm not used to eating in Manhattan anymore now that I live in Brooklyn? I don't know. Was not impressed and will not be returning."

"this is my 3rd time to cook shop. I had dinner twice and brunch once. I thought the brunch was good...however, this past dinner experience is really poor; the food I had was really just bad. I ordered the porkchop and when it came it was thin and surrounded by hard marrow and really not very edible. It was also drowned in a sea of black beans which was just awkward. My beef skewers that I started with were just terrible; tough and tasteless....dessert was just OK
I will not go back for dinner"

"Went for an early lunch at 11:30 am on a Friday, it was empty when we arrived and packed an hour later. Food was good, especially the pate and the dessert of coffee stout ice cream which were stand-outs. Waiter was able to offer recommendations on the menu."

"I was bringing a group around to the various Chelsea art galleries and made my reservation for 8 the day before through Opentable, which was hugely convenient. The next day towards the conclusion of the tour half of the participants decided not to join us for lunch. I also noticed we were running late and would not be on time for our reservation; so I promptly called Cookshop and the hostess was very understanding and accommodating, and thanked me for calling. When we arrived there were a few groups waiting to be seated but our reservation was honored and we got a table right away! Everyone loved the food and some of the group made special requests which were accommodated very respectfully by the staff. I would go back for sure."
