The Blue Pig Tavern serves American cuisine-nostalgic, simple & fresh. Utilizing local seafood & produce in creative accessible ways. The Blue Pig Tavern drives its name from a gambling parlor sited at Congress Hall in the mid 1800's.
"The Blue Pig does a very pleasant job always, some very good very fresh food. George loves the Monday night special, always a treat- and because it is Monday, the place is not so busy. A very pleasant dining experience in a landmark setting."

"I don't recall being asked if I wanted to sit next to the fire. If I had, I would have declined. It was really warm. Hot even. And unpleasant after a few minutes.
Drink orders were especially slow. Order your next drink two sips into the first. That way you might get it before you finish your entree."

"Never a dull dish at the blue pig. The ambiance , service and menu are nothing short of perfect. This is one of my families favorite special occasion restaurants but it is so delicious that we find ourselves making up reasons to celebrate!"

"The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I gave a fair grade to ambiance because we were seated at a corner table near the doorway to the kitchen. Our view was of a doorway to a back room (possibly an office) with the door propped open with a vacuum cleaner. If the door had been closed and the vacuum removed, it would have been a slightly better ambiance.
Other than that, it was a pleasant dining experience."

"Atmosphere is great. Unfortunately, the food was not. My husband (who never complains about food) couldn't eat the "Mother's Meatloaf" that he ordered. Nice place for a drink.
We had a great lunch down the street at Tisha's."

"Food is always excellent at this restaurant. It does get a bit noisy when crowded so we try to dine there at off times of year or non-weekends. I highly recommend the Blue Pig Tavern!"

"The Blue Pig is not a quiet restaurant to begin with but two shrieking toddlers made the noise level intolerable. After ten minutes or so, the management convinced the clueless parents that having their desserts served in an alternate location would be mutually beneficial. Our server offered us free desserts. The situation was handled in a very proactive and professional way. We were glad that we stayed because our meal was excellent. We had perfectly prepared salmon, fat, juicy scallops, interesting vegetables, creative cocktails and wonderful banana pudding pie. This is one of our favorite casual restaurants in Cape May."

"The Restaurant was a bit too loud for me. The food was very good but our server was a bit too busy and may have had too many tables to serve. A few others that have eaten there say the service is too slow and I would have to agree. I would have liked to have a nicer area to wait for our table with the same ambiance that was inside the restaurant.I was very happy with the food."

"The food was unremarkable, yet pricey and the service was slow. While we had a coupon to return the following night, we opted for the Ebbets room at the Virginia Hotel. The same hotel group, but much better ambiance and food was delicious."

"We had dinner Sunday night and everything was perfect from beginning to end. Then we went there Monday morning for breakfast. Food was great but our waiter was a little gruff. Maybe he woke up on the wrong side of the bed Monday morning? Other than that, everything else was fine."

"Although we had reservations they were running behind, they were extremely apologetic. They were out of the blue plate special but offered a substitute . Everything is always made to order and delicious . Had the pork stew it was fabulous and scallops. These dishes are abundant even to share"

"I made a reservation days in advance and requested a romantic table by the fireplace for our 29th. wedding anniversary. What we got was a table next to the doorway and a view of the front desk and no recognition of our special event and first time visit."

"We have been going to the Blue Pig Tavern ever since Congress Hall reopened its doors. The food is spectacular, the atmosphere is lively yet romantic. We had the pleasure of having the fireplace crackling so were able watch it while we enjoyed our meal. Their food is exceptional. They always have an interesting menu. A good selection for every type of food palate out there. I highly recommend the BPT to anyone who enjoys a fine meal!"

"Went during the off-season in February and it was great. Plenty of seating, food came out quickly. In my reservation I even noted "Gluten-free" which I do just in case someone reads it, but no one has ever asked... except for today. The waitress seated us and asked us, "Are both of you gluten free?" The waitress and chef were knowledgeable about this (always a plus) and accommodated us well. Pricing was about $40 for two people including tip/tax."

"I enjoyed dinner at The Blue Pig Tavern in the summer. It was dog friendly, allowing me to sit outdoors with my dog. I returned for Valentine's Day, which was much to cold for outdoor seating. I feel like I overdressed for the location. The inside of the restaurant was not as nice as the outside. It was very country-barn.. almost like a Cracker Barrel restaurant. The service was ok. The food was great, although I feel like it would have been better if the ambiance and service were better. We were guests in the hotel and came down for the reservation perfectly on time. I believe we were the latest reservation that night, which was 9pm. However, while on the elevator, the restaurant called us to see if we were coming. I felt rushed."

"Only our second visit but we have had two for two good experiences! Loved the food both times and a nice wine list to accompany the food. Waitress was great and very accomodating. Lights went out during our meal due to strong winds etc but our waitress and overall services were excellent. Lights came back on a few minutes later. Loved the ambience of other diners too. Don't know why you don't offer points for this reservation. What''s up with that?"

"I've eaten here a number of times. Each time it usually is a treat. Whether its breakfast, lunch or dinner, it is quite good. However, we had Christmas dinner there recently, and it was a disappointment. The dining room was in the back to handle overflow I guess. Not comfortable. The food was not well prepared and was dry and overcooked.
Always ask for the dining room with the fireplace. The best meals are breakfast and lunch. Service was adequate. Lesson learned: not all restaurants are at the top of their game Christmas. If I didn't eat there Christmas, I would have raised the stars for food to four."
