Sens is French for the word meaning "Sense," which refers to the faculties of sight, sound, smell, and taste that humans perceive this as stimuli originating from the body inside and out.
At Sens we love the process of cooking and its end result, complete happiness. Our inspiration is that of the Mediterranean with its wonderfully diverse cultures and cuisines. Our goal is not to redefine or reinvent their cuisine but rather to refine, refresh and create delicious and beautiful food. We use only the finest local ingredients and exotic spices to elevate our classic and modern techniques. Our destination is and will always be the same, to develop and perfect the flavor, fragrance, texture and composition of each dish while creating a unique and unforgettable experience.
"Hubby and I were married in this restaurant 4 years ago and we love to come here to celebrate our anniversary. The food, service and ambiance always measure up."

I had the porkbelly on wilted kale and frisee with a 30-something degree egg. Yummy. It was a working lunch, so we didn't indulge in cocktails or wine. Our server was gracious and attentive--her pride of place was evident, yet subtle.
Overall, a lovely experience and I would definitely want to go back. Thank you!"

"The food is incredible. Pita bread with spreads a lovely start. Flatbread was wonderful. My entree and everyone else's at my table enjoyed everything very much. An absolute delight."

"I have eaten here many times. The chef is very creative and the food is always very fresh and tasty. There's something for every taste. Service is always very professional and friendly. The Blood Orange drink is especially fantastic. Both thumbs up!"

"This restaurant has a perfect view of the lights on the Bay Bridge! We went on a weekend night when the Embarcadero is pretty empty and got a table by the window. The food ranged from decent to really good. We had a salad of shaved asparagus with pancetta that was great. Entrees were good, with the rib eye being the best. Presentation of the dishes was very nice! Our waitress was nice, but it took awhile to get our initial cocktails, which were sitting on the bar while she was setting up tables. We had to ask twice to get a glass of wine, but after that she was speedier. The background music was loud dance stuff that was playing off the manager's ipod. Would have been fine in a club, but not a restaurant."

"I brought family that was in town visiting here for a nice dinner, and while the food was delicious, the noise level was completely unbearable. I had to yell just to be heard from across the table. I will not be dining here again."

"Good location marrying a warm interior with terrific views of the Embarcadero and Bay. Service on our visit was excellent. But the food lacks badly. We had a chicken soup that tasted toxic; assorted hummus plate was underwhelming. Badly needs new blood in the kitchen! plus, the menus page on the web site has no menus. Sloppy."

"It was a bit noisey due to happy hour and a special event. Was looking for a more romantic evening but we had keep raising our voices to hear eachother. However, everything else was amazing!"

"One of the first tables seated for lunch. Food was creative and beautifully plated. Service was friendly but forgot about our table as the restaurant became busy. Better for happy hour than a sit down meal"

"Service was outstanding on a very crowded night, and night-staff was very courteous. Prices are a bit high however, and they closed relatively early especially for an evening event."

"Food was so-so. The Paella entree was terrible but the rest of the appetizers and entrees were ok. Service was a bit too much...when you have 4 suit and tie guys at a table for lunch it's safe to assume we don't care to know every details about the dishes we order. The enthusiasm is great but for a different crowd."

"We dined at Sens on Valentine's Day and ordered the special three-course meal and wine pairings. This is a very busy and noisy restaurant so we were very pleased that our request for a window seat in a quiet area was honored. The food was delicious and thoughtfully prepared; although the service was quite slow and we overheard the servers apologizing to numerous diners for delays. We look forward to returning soon and ordering from their interesting regular menu. Indeed we intended to return a few days after our Valentine's Day visit, and were disappointed to find they are not open on weekends."

"Had a great time. Ordered just the appetizers but loved all of them. Service was wonderful. Had to add another person to our reservation and was given another table without any issue."

"Interesting fusion of largely Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dining, right up my street. Limited number of menu items may disappoint some but I saw something there for everyone. Very extensive wine list, not for the faint of heart. I really liked portion sizes (modest) and highly competent food and wine service."

"Second visit here. The food is very good. I would not classify it as fine-cusine, but it makes for a very good business lunch place at a fair price. I also like the rustic decor and the service is also very good."

"Sen's is near my office, so it's a convenient place to share a meal with people, although a bit noisy. Last week was very disappointing, and I will find a new local haunt. My husband ordered a steak dish, and it was so fatty, he could hardly cut the meat and ultimately gave up. I'm a vegetarian and for years have ordered their Manti (turkish ravioli) for my entree, but they have changed the dish so it is no longer vegetarian. The other vegetarian dish does not seem appetizing, so it was very hard for me to figure out what I could eat."

"Be aware that the place has a very loud happy hour crowd and bad acoustics. We were seated near the bar and couldn't hear each from across the table. Waiter told us in the middle of our salads that our entrees were coming up, then told us they were given to another table. So we rushed and then waited. To be fair they did offer us a glass of wine, but it was still pretty expensive for the quality of the experience. Go to the bar, but I would not recommend this place for any business dinners."

"The food we ordered was good, but the menu is slightly off. Each selection is almost a good idea. The Lavash Wrap is tasty, but a little downscale for a regular restaurant. Stuffed Eggplant was also okay, but such a small portion that it ought to be an appetizer. Special Lentil soup was also okay, but served as a cup size portion in a regular bowl.
The worst part of our meal was that staff's insistence on clearing the table before we had finished eating. I managed to fend off the busperson the first time, but when he returned with the server, we couldn't deny them our plates even though two of the four of us were still eating. Did they run of out plates or just didn't know better? Poor service."
