"We highly recommend the small seafood platter appetizer. For many, that and a salad, with the bread will be a meal. We each also ordered a steak, excellent, and had to take a doggy bag to our Inn. On our next visit to Napa Valley we will repeat this excellent dining experience."

"We had a wonderful experience at Press. It was our anniversary and they put a nice card on our table to wish us a happy anniversary. We also sat in this love seat by the fireplace that was very romantic. Service was great and the food was fabulous. We ordered the lobster & crab cake & steak tartare for an appetizer. My husband loved the steak tartare. The chopped salad with bacon, avocado, apples was really good. We both ordered the rib eye and it was great. My husband ordered his med rare and thought it was cooked a little more than it should have been but he still enjoyed every bite! We split the souffle, which I think was a mistake because we could have each had one. Very expensive but worth it for a special occassion."

"Press has by far the best wine list in Napa Valley. It is a destination for us and we live more than 1,000 miles away. There are other restaurants in the area which Michelin gives three stars, but Press is for us, the three star attraction. Why? The wine list.
The Michelin three star restraints insist one consume a ten course meal. Unfortunately, ten course meals make it impossible to enjoy great wines. Yet Napa is about wine. Press has by far the best list of Napa wines I have ever seen. It is better and easier to learn about great Napa wines at Press than by touring the wineries where one tastes great, but far to young wines. We have made two trips to Press in twelve months. We will make a third before the year is out."

"Friends/Coworkers of my husband recommended PRESS to us for our recent weekend getaway to Napa and we couldn’t have been happier with the recommendation. They noted that it was their favorite Napa restaurant and previous TripAdvisor reviews clearly backed up their assessment. "The menu selection was impressive, and most of the food was excellent. We have to take off one star on Food because the steaks were not cooked properly. In fact they were consistently undercooked not just at our table, but both of the tables next to us. We even specifically described our interpretation of the requested temperatures with the waiter.
The main dining area is somewhat of an echo chamber. Also, the layout of the dining area seemed designed to pack in as many guests as possible rather than provide ambiance. We were practically sharing tables with our neighbors, and conversations carried over between us. Too close for our comfort."

"Press has to be one of the most overrated spots in the Napa Valley. The food simply is not good. And, with all the other excellent options in the area there is no reason to make a trip to Press. From the appetizers through dessert, the food lacked flavor and was executed poorly. Service was very good and the ambiance is ok, but this was really just wasted calories in an area surrounded by excellent restaurants."

"We celebrated a birthday dinner at Press on a Friday night, it's rare to enjoy a dinner where all the elements come together so flawlessly: food, wine, ambiance, and service. The food was amazing California fare - fresh, unique but unpretentious. Some favs: the artichoke salad was one of a kind, and the wood grilled filet was perfect with truffle Mac & Chz! My husband had homemade mint chocolate chip - they pick the mint fresh from their farm, it was incredible.
The wine list is all Napa -- we ordered by the glass (great selection & guidance from staff), and the ambiance was intimate but modern & not stuffy.
Finally, the waitstaff was as professional and polite as I have ever found -- they really made the evening!

"Was spending the weekend in Napa with my wife and wanted a really nice steakhouse with a good wine list. All the reviews for PRESS really impressed. The location is easy to find right off the main highway. The location is very nice with great ambience and lighting. The service was good, but for the price paid and the level of restaurant, I would have expected better wait support from the wait staff. They made some silly mistakes (taking my plate without asking), not bringing things when asked, etc. Additionally - the Shrimp Cocktail was laughable. At a place were you expect to spend a couple of hundred bucks easy for a dinner for two - the Shrimp Cocktail at $2.95 each - was something I could have made at home with frozen shrimp."

"A perfect steakhouse gem. I was driving into town about 45 minutes to just go to a nice steakhouse and was told Press is the best and right in Napa area. I was really impressed. Even the waiter who told me it was his second day acted like he had been doing this forever. The busboys were even super friendly. The somalier was very friendly and kept a good eye on empty glasses. The menu has a really nice spread. I wanted so many things but couldnt eat so much. Very tasty. The tuna tar tar was killer. The salads were fresh and the steak was great. The dessert was literally the best I ever had. I even had to take a picture of it because I want to remember it. Ive never had a more fudgy mousse souffle ever. SO much better than the cake souffles."

"My wife and I dine out frequently throughout the Bay Area. This is one of our favorite restaurants. Great ambiance & service, incredible bread selection & butter to start. We shared everything so we could enjoy sides and a desert without having to carry anything home, including ourselves in a wheel barrel (wink)! We started with the Crab & Lobster Cake ($22.00) done right, with very little breading, heavy on the crab & lobster! Then two glasses of Philip Togni Cab ($22.00 each) with the Wagyu Flat Iron steak with optional Truffle butter ($57.00). The sides included a full order of incredible asparagus ($13.00) and a half order of Mac & Cheese ($7.00) Then ended with a New York cheesecake with berries ($10.00) & Capuccinos ($5 each)"

"Well prepared steaks, but the sides tend to be bland. A world class wine list - and you won't find many bargains. Service is warm and friendly. The room is nicely done. Be prepared to spend 200 bucks - more if you buy a bottle off the list - for two."

"The food, experience and service at press was incredible. I didnt think we would be able to get in on such short notice during our trip, but opentable found us a late-evening spot (815pm) and we took it. The waitress recommended the mixed grill for two (wagyu beef, pork chop, skirt steak and NY strip). We paired it with some sides (sauteed spinach and mini loaded potatoes) and we were NOT disappointed. Everything was cooked perfectly, the food service was paced properly and we left SO FULL and satisfied. We really liked the ambience inside - we only wish we had saved some room for the chocolate souffle!"

"Really enjoyed our dinner at Press. First time in Napa Valley - Press was recommended to us by a friend. Did not disappoint. Had the oysters (fresh, relish) the special roasted beet salad, and rib eye for two. Ordered the ribeye medium rare - which was more rare than medium. Would go medium next time. Had the asparagus side dish which was plenty for three of us to share. Wine list is extensive but had a wonderful $70 bottle of wine. Certainly on the low end of the price range but excellent choice.
Topped off the meal with the chocolate soufflé. Overall an excellent experience and we will come back on our next visit to to the valley."

"Amazing food in a friendly environment that made our night! From the first glass of wine and muddled basil cocktail to the leftovers we took home and ate the following day, every bite was thoughtully created and deliciously flavored. Our server was genuinely friendly and all wait staff seemed to have that extra second to share as they asked about your night. Would definitely return. Best New York Strip I've ever had and the Meyer lemon tart was insanely delicious."

"Charles, our exceptional server, made the entire experience extraordinary. The meats were excellent but over seasoned for my taste. I like the meat to stand out; this meat was coated with butter and more salt and pepper than I would use. My husband, however, thought the meat was totally excellent and perfectly seasoned. "This is mainly a steak house with a la carte sides. We split the aged NY strip. It was great intense flavor because of the aging. Steaks are cooked over an outdoor wood grill and ours, though very good, was a bit too charred and a bit overdone to our liking. Have the truffled Mac and Cheese! Lovely decor and ambiance."

"WOW! Absolutely outstanding from start to finish! The fresh basil breadsticks were a pleasant surprise, and each variety of roll was a delight. Lobster and crabcake was the best ever. No fillers and simply prepared so that the flavors really came through. The steaks were "melt-in-your-mouth" tender. Nothing beats USDA Prime! Try the Truffle Mac & Cheese too! Of course the chocolate souffle is a must have. Even the coffee was superb. All-in-all the food, service, and atmosphere were perfect."
