At Tom Colicchio's Craftbar, the casual elegance of rustic cooking is delicately illustrated by melding seasonal ingredients to create amazingly flavorful fare. The menu changes according to season, and features a variety of house-cured salami, great cheese, and favorites like Pecorino Fondue with Hazelnuts and Acacia Honey, Stuffed Sage Leaves, and Tom¹s famous Veal-Ricotta meatballs. The menu includes a variety of bruschetta, hearty pasta dishes, and roasted and braised meat and fish. Sandwiches, like Duck Prosciutto with Fontina and Hen of the Woods Mushrooms, are a particular Craftbar favorite. Craftbar's rustic and comfortable dining room lends itself equally to a quick lunch, a full-length dinner, or a snack at the bar. Craftbar is now open for Brunch! Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Craftbar is serving a soul-satisfying brunch menu with dishes like Farm Eggs with Crispy Handmade Pork Terrine, and Pain Perdu French Toast.

"I have eaten at craftbar a dozen times or more this last time the entire experience was not that good. The fabled breast sticks were stale and the food lacked flavor. Why would you put tatar sauce on skate? The short ribs were flavorless. Very disappointing and will not return."

"We were a large group and we were seated comfortably at a table in the middle of the restaurant without feeling cramped or bothered by people walking by. The service was great - servers were knowledgeable and friendly, attentive but not annoying. The noise level was acceptable, although it was difficult to hear people on the other side of the table. The place has a nice feel to it. Our only concern was that the portions of some dishes were quite small, and some of them had an overabundance of salt. But the ingredients seemed very fresh, the presentation was pleasant, and the food was very well prepared. We'd go back, especially for a glass of wine and a salad and plate of charcuterie at the bar."

"it took almost 20 minutes to get the bartenders attention even after the manager was made aware of the situation. long wait for pricey drinks. the food was good- not great. we had a variety of servers and are still not sure who the actual server was. it was a disappointing experience."

"Initially, very frustrated that my Open Table reso was not enough. Received a voicemail on the morning of my reso requesting I call to confirm my reso or it would be unconfirmed 3 hours later at noon. Annoyed as I did not have time to make calls during morning work hours...without even an lunch hour included in the window of time allotted to me.

However, the 'Very Good' rating was easy to score because of our server. Besides a unique menu and a great wine list, our server was 5 STARS! He was beyond helpful in selecting wines to compliment our courses and determining starters. He was honest,fun and approachable, without even an a hint of pretentiousness. I would return to any restaurant where he served!"

"The food was great. The service from the hostess and the bus boys was as well. Surprisingly, the waiter service left much to be desired. Ambience is what was to be expected from a hip and upscale, yet "down-home" restaurant."

"There was not a bit of food leftover on anyone's plate after any course. The waiter was friendly and helpful with recommendations and navigating the menu - how many courses to order each, etc. I often believe that a good service experience can enhance a whole evening, and that was certainly true of the staff at craftbar.

The veal meatballs were outstanding, the pecorino "fondue" is not to be missed, and if I could afford it, I'd add it to my regular rotation without hesitating."

"We had a great booth and a couple of good waiters. Actually, all staff members we met were very friendly. The stuffed sage leaves were a bit of a dissapointment. But the frisee salad was delicious. Great ambiance for a happening saturday night. We were there on Sunday night so you can't expect it to be very lively. I would recommend it though."

"My wife and I had a wonderful time at Craftbar this past weekend. I cannot express strongly enough my appreciation for the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. Upon receiving my reqquest for a special table, the hostess escorted me around the restaurant so that I could select the perfect seat. From the hostess to our server to the busboys, everyone was terrific, and it helped make for a great night out!"

"For the second and last time . . . not good. The bloody mary's are weak and you can't tell whether there is horse radish in them. The martinis are weak also. The sage leaf sausage small plate was overcooked so the sausage tasted more like croutons. The fondue dish is anything but fondue because there is no bowl for dipping, more importantly it had to be cut with a knife to eat it. The meatballs are good but we ordered orechietti with it and it was clearly overcooked. The mushroom and cheese bruschetta was good.
Patrons beware: this is not the place for a quiet and/or relaxing dinner. Way too much noise and we weren't even seated near the bar area. Wine prices are very high and not at all commensurate with the food price."

"Our waiter was pretty curt and short on welcome at first but seemed to warm up as he realized we were going to be ordering wine, cocktails and several courses. "Food was done reasonably well, though the pasta - a ravioli - appeared on such an immense plate, it only emphasized that the portion had evidently been design by one of the Olsen twins. Other entrees at our table seemed more appropriately portioned. Taste not portions are the key, however, and the pasta did taste very good. And the salad beforehand, a fennel & pepper, was excellent. But if you are an athlete or reasonably active person (someone who has just finished working out at Equinox across Broadway, for example) figure on over-ordering a bit or consulting carefully with the server before ordering to make sure that you won't need a snack immediately after dinner."

"This is my second visit to Craftbar for a business lunch. It was perfect for the purpose both times. The tables are far enough apart that you can actually hear your clients speak wihtout having to block out other diners' conversations. The food is fresh and delicious;the menue offers a diversity of choices to please all diets and palates. It is also well priced for our contracted business entertainment budget. Location is good for my office, too.

"So disappointed. We arrived early for a res but they said they could seat us right away. great! then they sat at least two parties that arrived after us. When we got our table they forgot about us for ten minutes, no menus or drink offers, all the while having to listen to Aerosmith!! The waitress took our order without writing anything down, okay, but she screwed it up. One of our party had to send an app back to get fixed. Finally, for our entrees there were complaints about saltiness from everyone at the table and my wife's dish didn't really make any sense. As Tom would have said "It looked like four ingredients thrown on a plate". If he want's his name to stay associated with good food he better get some quality control in there, ASAP"

"Food was mostly excellent(I had the octopus and fennel salad appetizers). The polenta balls were fine, but nothing special; wouldn't order again. Service was VERY off putting. Waitress was snobby and aloof. Clearly put out that my friends and I were conversing and had not yet had a chance to look at the wine list when she came over. Rushed us to order both food and wine, after which, we never saw her again. (A manager did come over to ask how the food was.) When time for the check, she was no where to be found. I had to flag down two different waiters to bring the check and then to run the credit card. (They, however, were very nice.) She was a sour note in an otherwise pleasant evening."

"A bit disappointed. Everything we ordered was too oily and slightly overcooked.
We had the fondue, which was extremely oily. Interesting hazelnut flavor to it.
We had the clam chowder, which had almost no clams in it.
The duck was too oily and overcooked.

"I went here for brunch. Although they did run out of french toast (pain perdu) by 2:00 on a Sunday, everything was delicious. Very nice selection of teas. In addition, the front of the house was very accommodating when we had to change our reservation at the last minute. They couldn't have been nicer. Would definitely return."

"Three of us went for brunch on Saturday. We went with somewhat medium to high expectations and were disappointed. Although the "Baked Egg" and "Corned Beef Hash" dishes were excellent, the 3rd person in our party, who is admittedly more picky, could not get an egg hard poached after 2 tries. Also the service seemed spotty and the crowd was mixed and a little odd probably due to location and the fact that brunch is new to the restaurant."

"Loved the food and service, wish they put a curtain up by the door to block the cold wind blasting indoors. Portions were OK, maybe a bit on the small side. Loved our server, she was very accomodating"

"I wouldn't write home about it. Was excited to try a Coliccio restaurant for brunch, but when we got there at 12noon, the place was empty. Decided to give it a shot anyways. The waitress was slow considering she only had one other table to manage. The menu is thin and she even forgot to bring us a side order with our entree. All is all, there are better places in the neighborhood for brunch."

"This is definitely the more casual, low-end out of the Craft restaurants. However, it is was very good and had a nice overall ambiance. "Craftbar's menu is deceptive: the prices look pretty reasonable, but when the bill arrives, you've spent a bunch of bucks. That's okay, because the restaurant's food is excellent, and worth the fare. But my experience, service-wise, was so off-putting, that I will not return. I arrived on a cold rainy night to a venue that was more than half empty. Nonetheless, the hostess magnanimously suggested that "You can seat yourself at the bar until your party is complete," despite the fact that my "party" consisted of one other person. Did she imagine that I had trekked out on this unpleasant night just to deprive other guests of a seat? Colicchio needs to get his staff act together."

"We were there for restaurant week and were very pleased at the many choices for each category. There was a good variety and we were all pleased with our decisions.

After a second sip of my red wine, I knew that I should not have said ok (I was given a taste and thought perhps the red would get better with a little more air). I called over the waiter and he immediately took my glass away and asked what I'd rather have. I appreciated his professional manner and also kind attitude."

"Overall, I'd rate it pretty poor. It's as if Chef Colicchio has forgotten his middle child and is focusing all of his attention on his new bouncing baby resto, Colicchio & Sons, as well as just riding on his reputation from Top Chef.

A restaurant with a well regarded chef shouldn't be overcooking their pasta - but they did! To be fair, our beet salad was very good.

Our server was ready with a pat smile and everything that came out of her mouth, sounded as if she were reading from a script.

That said, it was my third and last visit."

"We come to NYC at least twice a year from Montreal JUST to try restaurants and EAT.... We've been to many gems, Babbos, Daniels, DB cafe, Union Square Cafe, to name a few, BUT I will tell you the experience we had Saturday night at Craftbar was by far the best!!!! The food was out of this world, wine to die for but what made the experience so terrific was Mark (our waiter) and Craftbars' manager. They both helped with food selections, spent a lot of time explaining the menu, guided us with wines (which you expect at most great restaurants) however, they both went above and beyond! You can tell that these two gentlemen adore what they do and absolutely love working at Craftbar. They were funny, charming and wonderful!!!! We'll be back!"

"Went here with a group of colleagues from work for lunch during Restaurant Week. There were so many options on the menu to choose from. Everyone loved their appetizers, entrees and desserts. The berry cobbler was the highlight of my meal. The service was excellent, especially since after telling the waiter we had to leave by a certain time, he kept returning to remind us of how much time we had left -- so thoughtful.

"I really enjoyed the casual vibe with friendly, attentive service. I felt comfortable dining alone and not having to sit at the bar. The sliced pig head terrine was a fantastic appetizer; the apricot-like fruit paired really well with the bacon-like consistency of the terrine. The braised pork belly was perfectly moist, and the caramelized onions were like candy with the grits. I had a tough time deciding between the pork belly and the polenta with mushroom. After the waitress recommended the pork belly, the server brought out a small dish of the polenta, complimentary to my main course. Incredible! The apple cranberry crisp was delicious but not too impressive. Overall, a great experience that I would recommend to my friends."

"We were a party of four celebrating the departure of a good friend who was moving out of NY. We decided to try CraftBar for Restaurant week and were somewhat disappointed. All the appetizers were so salty save for the salad. (Sausage in sage leaves,arancini rice balls). Ditto for the entrees. What a shame. However, my dessert of meyer lemon panna cotta was good, the apple crisp was nothing special, the brownie with caramel ice cream was also good.

Perhaps this is a place for the bar scene and not the food, at least that was case on my occasion"

"Tom Colicchio's Craftbar was a bit of a let down. When watching him grill contestants on Top Chef one gets the sense that his restaurant would be creative and delicious. It's not. This was my second time eating brunch here and it was truly underwhelming. The dishes were dull and overpriced. The wait staff was competent but lacking enthusiasm and information about what they were serving. Overall its not a bad place to grab brunch. I just had higher expectations."

"I went here for a late lunch (at 1:45pm) with my husband and mother. The food was great, but the service left something to be desired. Our waitress was friendly, but only came by to our order and gave us the check. She didn't come by the check on us after our appetizers and main courses were dropped, despite the fact she was standing to the side of the restaurant looking like she had nothing to do. The busser seemed a little new, as we sat with stacked empty plates in front of us for a good 15 minutes after we finished each course. A man who we think was the manager came by to check on us while we ate our main course, which was very much appreciated, but the over all experience kinda of a disappointment mainly due to the lack of service."

"i was less impressed than i had hoped. craft is an amazing restaurant with impeccably prepared food. while i knew that craftbar was a more casual experience, i still hoped that
the professional level at craft would be carried over to this sister restaurant. but i was
disappointed. the food was average. the initial small plates were fine but nothing to write
about. the fried oysters were not terribly flavorful and the cornmeal crust was hard. the sweetbreads were overcooked. the wings were also not well seasoned. on the other hand, the white anchovy bruschetta was fantastic. the rabbit papparadelle was over salted. overall, it was a mediocre place, not what i expected from the craft empire."

"We brought out of town relatives here to try their Sunday brunch. I ordered the Pain Perdu which was fluffy and delicious. Prices get a little steep if you order cocktails which we did. Towards the end of the meal, a mimosa we did not order landed on our table. We were charged for the unordered mimosa and decided to drink it since we had to pay for it anyway. Otherwise, brunch was a nice experience."

"We had an early brunch at CraftBar on a very cold, blustery Sunday. The staff however, couldn't have been warmer - everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful.
The food was brought was presented beautifully, and nice and hot.
We had baked eggs and shrimp and grits, both of which blew us away for different reasons. The baked egg with short rib was simplicity at its best. Simple, natural flavors. The shrimp and grits were outstanding thanks to the beautifully prepared grits topped with a wonderful shrimp and chorizo mix. Fantastic.
We left the restaurant, unrushed, and headed back out into the snow - warm in the way only a happily full belly can be."

"Craftbar never disappoints. I recall grazing through many appetizers and small plates on my first visit (I could not decide!)and barely having room for my entree, and now have the difficult decison to make about what to eat on subsequent dining trips. Favorites: the veal ricotta meatballs, the pecorino "fondue" with honey and pepperoncini with perfectly crusted warm bread (we order this every time), the fabulous charcuterie and cheeses. Lovely wine list - I love a smooth Pinot Noir. Great atmosphere, whether grabbing a frisee salad with perfectly cooked poached egg at lunch, going with family for Sunday supper after a movie around the corner (which was the case on this visit), or hiding in a romantic corner of a banquette with my beau."

"Nice space, cool decor, but overall the food and service were disappointing. The cocktail to start was a below-average martini. We tried several menu items and all came up short on flavor (i.e. bland anchovi bruchetta) or execution (i.e. greasy blt). Our waiter was hard to locate, though the table-side cocktail pour by the bartender was pretty impressive. We were there for a late lunch so maybe timing accounts for our overall sub-par experience."

"I had the beef tenderloin and it was fantastic. Portions were rather small but the taste was great. Also had the cheese/honey fondue appetizer with toast and it was great.
Our waiter seemed very uninterested in serving us and was more concerned with talking to some other guests about her photography career. We had to wait long just to get our check. Otherwise, I was very impressed by the restaurant. There was a drink I had but can't remember the name. I believe it was a Craft Cocktail or something similar. I recommend trying this drink as it was also very good. I would recommend this restaurant and would dine there again if I was in the neighborhood."

"While the food was good, it was not notable. Nothing was a standout - we had the Branzino, Hangar steaks, and a pasta, as well as starters and salads. No complaints, but no Wows either. The room was lovely and pretty quiet, although it was an off-hour. The service was the highlight. Warm, relaxed, gracious, friendly and helpful - and that was everyone we encountered. One thing that bothered me, the ladies rest room seemed shabby, with light fixture missing and peeling paint. I expect this class of restaurant to be better maintained. It made me feel like it's neglected and sliding downhill."

"Loved this place! While noisy, it was packed with people and I know why. The food is fantastic! had pork belly and it was the best I've ever had. "Lovely place for a thanksgiving brunch with friends. No overbearing music which was great, but during the day the dining room at Craftbar can feel a bit cold. The food was excellent, although the brunch menu could do with a few more ideas, and it was good we were able to add a few more dishes from the small plates lunch menu. Delicious brunch cocktails - so delicious I had to take a nap afterwards."
