"I have eaten here for years because of the quality, quantity and variety of food served. I especially love the salads, duck dishes, steamed and grilled fish, lamb and vegatable wok! There is always good value in food AND wine, but the lunch and early bird prix fixed menus are exceptional. Cozy and appealing."

"The food was good and nicely presented, as usual, but the service was really inattentive -- and we weren't being demanding -- they forgot to bring things that were part of the order, repeatedly. My experience here has been genuine consistent attentiveness so I was surprised."

"I got an email from open table at 12:20 that day to say my reservation had been cancelled. I had not been on the open table web site that day. I still need to know how this could have happened."

"I went here with my family for my mother's birthday and it was a wonderful experience. The restaurant is very small, and has an intimate feel. I was expecting very few people to be there as it was a Wednesday night around 8, however, this restaurant was completely full. Every dish is completely homemade and incredible. I got the crab cake which was delicious. Everyone was very satisfied with their meals and the service was really wonderful. This is a great neighborhood gem and I would definitely recommend trying."

"We arrived 10 mins early for our reservation, which was 1.5 hours before a concert. We were told that we would be seated in 15 minutes, unless we ate outside at a table they set up on the sidewalk, in front of the building next door! I had to open my umbrella to keep from being dripped upon. We saw the first people leaving 20 minutes after our reserved time. One of the reasons for the delay was that a group of 20 had been seated upstairs. Clearly, this place overbooked that evening. It had happened to my friend on a prior visit, too. The food was very fresh beautifully presented but rather ordinary considering the cost and the location. The mezze did not have much taste at all. All in all, this was a rather uninspiring experience."

"Pascalou has long been a neighborhood favorite, with a charming history and a casually elegant atmosphere that underplays its impressive credentials. The food, French at its core, well balanced and with a fine blend of other cuisines, never fails to please the eye and palate, . The location is perfect, the decor quaint yet witty, and the intimate space accommodates a lot of happy people."

"We dined here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. My group of 6 was seated upstairs, which was a bit disappointing since the ceilings are low, it's a bit dark and we were the first group. With two kids in tow I suppose we were relegated to the attic. Once we got settled in our surroundings and ordered, the experience was quite enjoyable. Service was good, the bread fresh, and all of us enjoyed our meals. My mushroom and truffle oil omelette was a tad bland, however. The french toast was the perfect size for my two kids to share, and the accompanying fruit selection was bright and flavorful."

"Best brunch deal in a neighborhood filled with competitors. Lots of charm makes up for the very tight tables and slightly frantic--though very pleasant and competent--staff. The food is well-prepared and attractively presented. We've been here before and will be back."

"We had a very pleasant evening. Three generations and we each enjoyed the food and ambiance. From the gracious welcome as we walked in to the relaxed atmosphere as we meandered through dinner, we felt unrushed and comfortable."

"I selected this place without knowing anything about it. I was looking for a French restaurant in Upper ES. I've been there with my daughter and her husband and my son with his girlfriend (vegetarian). we all enjoyed very much the food, each plate was just great; the service was nice and all athmosphere was great. We definately will come again."

"Wonderful fresh food in a French themed charming decor. Small and a bit crowded - it would have to be. Lovely salads, desserts, omelets. Always love the duck confit salad and they are very generous with the smoked salmon. The avocado salad with crabmeat was a bit sparse, but attractively presented. Always a mystery as to how this tiny kitchen turns out such a varied menu and does it all well."

"Carefully selected wine list with unusual choices in a great range of prices; interesting menu with some unusual items such as sweetbreads and kidney. All four of the main courses chosen were delicious."

"From the moment we stepped in, we felt at home. The host's wicked sense of humor, the chef stopping by, the menu filled with choices to satisfy the most picky individual, everything was really great. We made a special request not to sit by the door so they placed us at a table above the others, it was really nice. From the appetizers to the dessert, everything was delicious. We all said we would go back for sure. Great prices for good wines!"

"This was perfect place for a quiet mid-afternoon Sunday brunch with a new friend. It's refreshing to find a quiet charming and understated neighborhood spot with an impressive menu and service to match. The service was efficient and friendly and didn't distract from our "getting to know you" conversation. I appreciated that no attempt was made to shoo us out when we lingered. We both had the egg-white white omelette with feta cheese, spinach and tomatos - wonderfully fluffy and tasty - and plenty of hearty coffee (they kept our cups topped off). The rest of the menu looks fantastic - including the Prix-Fixe brunch. I live nearby and will be returning soon."

"A very intimate place both upstairs and down. You'll be dining with your neighbors. That being said, the food here picks you up and takes you away. Beginning with the pink grapefruit and feta salad (just the right combo of sweet, tart and salty) and moving on to the crispy roasted chicken (crispy outside and juicy inside) with truffle mashed potatoes and vegetables and then to the incredibly rich chocolate mousse my dinner was delicious. Every bite. Wine list is good and the price was very reasonable. I'm going back!"

"A very cozy restaurant in the french style (intimate and friendly, unassuming) with food that is a fusion of French and international influences. I brought two elderly friends to dinner here and we were given a quiet table upstairs where we could talk without straining to hear. The waitress was lovely, too."

"This is my favorite neighborhood restaurant. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the staff always helpful. The food is consistently good, the menu wide and varied, the value is great, especially "special brunch" and "early bird menus". The tables are extremely close, but I like the bistro vibe."

"Small, intimate, peaceful atmosphere. A restaurant where one can have a conversation which has become a rarity in New York. We had planned to go for the prix-fixe but decided on the daily special, seafood paella. Generous portion with plenty of seafood deliciously seasoned; and the price was right. The bottle of Sancere was excellent and also reasonable in price."

"What a charming place! My friend and I went for brunch on a Sunday and were delighted to find a warm, friendly staff and a comfortable atmosphere. The menu was diverse and the food tasty. There were no problems in accommodating a few modifications to the dishes. We never felt rushed and will certainly return, next time we're in the 'hood."

"The food was nothing less than amazing. Plates arrived quickly yet nothing looked or tasted rushed. Service was superb, everyone was very friendly. Great neighborhood, wasn't too far from the hotel we were staying at next to Times Square. The restaurant was small which made it even more romantic. Made us forgot we were in noisy NYC, took us away to Paris for the hour we were there."
