Lyon Hall is a modern bistro serving approachable Alsatian-inspired fare, including an extensive selection of house-made charcuterie and sausages. The menu changes with the season to highlight fresh produce from local farms, as do the pastries, desserts and fresh bread.The affordable wine list focuses on French selections, while the impressive beer list offers an extensive selection of European drafts and bottles. "We had a reservation for 1:00 on a sunday, but weren't seated till 1:30. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meal. There was a delay in the service in that no one checked after our meal was served and so the item I was missing took about 15 minutes to arrive. Also, it took awhile to get our check paid."

"Hostess was very welcoming - our table was ready upon arrival. It was a crowded Friday night, so noise level was loud. Waitress initially had trouble connecting, but warmed up as evening went on. Food was well prepared and came in a timely manner - cocktails were fun and well made. Would definitely return."

"We went to brunch with a friend and had the most wonderful time. The ambiance, the food, the drinks, and the service were all perfect. They have one of the best Bloody Mary's I have ever had. The vin blanc mussels were delicious and my husband's pork schnitzel sandwich was awesome. We really enjoyed the fresh made donuts as well. We had never been to Lyon Hall for brunch, but we will definitely go back soon."

"We are frequent visitors to Lyon Hall but this time we were quite disappointed. The server seemed to be annoyed by our presence, even though we were her only customers at the time. It took a long time to get our cheese plate and then when it arrived it had a strange bread that wouldn't go well with the cheeses we ordered. When we asked for a simple baguette instead the server acted even more annoyed. Our mussels were overcooked and the sauce that went with them wasn't great. Overall, we were not pleased with our visit. I hope the service and food quality improves the next time we visit or we will not be going back."

"Nice place for a special celebration. The menu is varied enough to offer food options (small plates, salads, sandwiches, entrees) for all ages and interests, and the price range is good too. An extended Happy Hour was a good place to start before we were seated. Tables are close but you don't feel that your are imposing on your "neighbors" or vice versa when conversing with your party. Staff is a little overeager in wanting to remove plates but we weren't rushed. If I lived in Clarendon, Lyon Hall would be a favorite hang-out of mine given the ambiance, menu choices, and price."

"This is a nice little restaurant. First time there. Wanted to try someplace new. The food was good, portions good, price a tad bit high for brunch. My wife and I were there for mothers day. The staff was very good, polite, very accommodating. We had a baby and stroller and they put us at a perfect table. Not always easy to squeeze a car seat in. We woiuld go back and try it for dinner."

"What happened to Lyon Hall? This used to be one of our favorite restaurants in Arlington. The pretzel stick appetizer used to be awesome... but during our last visit, it was merely a brown toasted breadstick. Our server was inattentive, to say the least. Tables around us were being served at a decent pace, but we had to keep flagging her down just to put in drink orders. Lastly, I used to really love the sausages at Lyon Hall. I've recommended the restaurant to many people in the past, solely on the quality of the sausages. I can't do that anymore, this last serving seemed sad and bland. What is driving this decline in quality? I'm hoping this review helps wake someone up at Lyon Hall & restores it to its former glory."

"I had made a reservation for 10 for brunch, but accidentally made it for the wrong date. The greeter was very, very helpful, and got us a nice table for 10 anyway. He was willing to go out of his way to make it work. The food was really good, and plentiful. Brunch menu is varied enough for any taste - from seafood, vegetarian, game, regular breakfast fare. We had a great time. I've had dinner here a few times also, and their menu is inventive and tasty. It can be a little loud at night with the bar."

"My girlfriend and I split a beet salad, mussels provencal, and a cheese plate. The house-made cheese was probably the best (impressive!) and everything else was very good. The mussels' seasoning didn't totally do it for me, but I tend to like my mussels a little more 'traditional' I guess (garlic, white wine, butter).
The table was quite cozy next to other patrons, and while I actually enjoyed rubbing elbows, this aspect probably wouldn't be ideal for an intimate date where you want to ignore the world around you.
My gf and I have been here once before and got sausages, which were really fantastic, but since then we've both become vegetarian besides occasional seafood. Great place for that occasional seafood for a special occasion!"

"This is a great go-to for weekend brunch. Friends and I meet here regularly. Service this latest time was a little off. We were seated upstairs, which was freezing. The air conditioning was running--it was 50 degrees outside--so we were moved to another table, only to be moved back to accomodate a large party. And we didn't receive any bread until our meal was served. Our waitress discounted our bill, however--a nice, unexpected gesture you often don't find with customer service today. We will definitely continue using Lyon Hall for future hang-out/meals."

"Some nice comfort food offerings like duck cassoulet, coq au vin, delicious french fries and great beers. Gets quite busy and noisy on Friday/Saturday nights, but enjoy a leisurely beer and the $1/oyster special on Mondays all day long. Excellent variety of beer styles and very attentive service. Most of the time the food is quite good, but I've also experienced an over-cooked steak and some undercooked vegetables that came with the white beans with the duck cassoulet. But, all in all, a casual European pub with comfort food offerings, solid service, a nice atmosphere, and excellent beer list."

"I like pretty much this place and I've been there 20 times, probably because I love get out on Sunday morning, drink my coffee, have my brunch and read the news. And this restaurant could be perfect for me, but the only think that really bother me is they always change the menu and sometimes the food is not the same, even when you ask the same that and I hate that, so be aware that if you see a nice pics here probably won't be the same the nice time. Or if you can order only two donuts one time, the next one they will tell you that the order have to be for four donuts."

"What a great meal! Don't come here if you're on a diet, because the food is classic French and German, but if you're in the mood to dine on some wonderful, hearty cuisine, this is your place. I'm a carboholic and the breads were even fantastic, which means that you really shouldn't waste the stomach space ordering pretzels unless you're with a group of at least four people. It's just too much food. My friend got the sausage medley, which he enjoyed, I got the braised beef short ribs, which were spectacular, and we shared the truffle spatzle. I'm been fantasizing about that ever since! The wait staff took a bit of a team approach, which can sometimes be annoying but here it was just helpful."

"Took my daughter and her fiance' to brunch here on Sunday. It was okay, nothing to get excited about. Actually, they got two of our three orders wrong - I got scrambled eggs instead of over-easy, and my daughter got shredded pork with her eggs instead of link sausage. Once corrected, the food was fine if not memorable. I don't really like the space itself - I expected something nicer. Probably will not bother going back..."

"Friday night was my second time at Lyon Hall. I'll be in no rush to go back, mainly because I have no interest in much of the menu.
For example, they have an endless beer menu, but I am not much of a beer drinker these days. As for food, it's hard to find an appetizer that appeals--they do have a vast selection of cheese and cold cut platters, neither of which appeal to me. The entrees I've had--Coq au Vin and a beef rib dish, were decent, but overpriced."

"We love sitting at the bar at Lyon Hall. Our bartender was so great on Easter that we couldn't wait to return. Sadly, on Saturday morning the bartender was completely dead. We aren't very excited to return this time."

"The place is convenient for me as it is only a block or so from the Metro. I enjoyed the mussels, lamb chops and house Sauvignon Blanc from Bordeaux. The service was timely and friendly. The place is a bit pricey for what you actually get (you can spend a lot of money here and wonder what it was for), but the quality of the food is excellent. I will return."

"We have eaten here 3 times now as it is in our neck of the woods. The food is very average but priced well. It is always insanely loud there because you sit on top of each other so you just have to prepare for that ahead of time. Our waitress was stretched very thin and forgot to bring me a beer which she was able to take off the bill. Good happy hour spot and once the weather warms up it should help with the volume control with the extra outdoor seating."

"You cannot take advantage of the Happy Hour if you are a diner - disapointing. After we had out meal the server did not come back to ask how we were enjoying out food, if she had we could have told her that the duck, fries, and schnitzel dish were all so salty that we could not taste the flavor or enjoy the meal .. the best we could say was that the sausage entree was good and the beer and wine were also up to the expected standard. Noise levels were so high that normal conversation between six of us was impossible and the dining area was chilly to say the least. Not a good experiecce I am afraid ... sorry to say."

"Our group of 4 tried many different menu items, and all of us were happy with what we had. Steak/frites, duck cassoulet, mussels provincal and a charcouterie platter were all a big hit. The menu selections have a very French feel to them, and our dinners seemed reasonably priced. We were there rather early on a Sunday night so no real crowds to speak of. Had the restaurant been packed, say on a Saturday evening, I can see where the noise level might be a bit high, but on an off night, this was certainly not a problem. We'll be going back!"

"My girlfriend and I were celebrating our 4 year anniversary. We both work in the food/bar industry. We were looking for something new and edgy in our new neighborhood. We booked a resi for 2 at 7:00. However, we arrived early for the bar happy hour. We arrived around 5:30. We were greeted quickly and graciously by the only bartender there (scruffy, witty, and knowledgable). We liked him immediately. We liked him so much that we quickly told the hostess to scratch our reservation. We were comfortable eating at the bar.
Speaking of food, the happy hour mussells were lights out. To our surprise, you can get the HH mussells done in any of 4 ways. The scruffy, awesome, (cute cause my GF said so), bartender described them to a T."

"Had brunch at Lyon Hall for the first time; I've heard some good things about this place. Lyon Hall is in a great location in Clarendon and easily accessible as it's in the heart of Clarendon. My first impression walking in was that it reminded me of a diner (just slightly more modernized). The decor was decent, but could stand a bit of tweaking. The hostess was pleasant. Walking up to the bar, which was not busy, I had to wait a bit as there was no bartender, and the latin guy seemed lost behind the bar (had to wave him down). Noise level was pretty high but conversation was audible. Overall, decent first experience. I would go again."

"Lyon Hall has always been a favorite dinner spot, so we decided to try it for brunch. Quality was as good as always, though a few missteps on some dishes. Had the Lyonnaise Potatoes and Eggs. Smoked pork was great, and the potatoes were good as well. The pork, potatoes, and eggs are all served separately on the plate. Would expect that serving the potatoes and pork more like a hash would be an improvement. Eggs ordered over-easy were well past over-medium. Unfortunate since the runny yolk really makes the dish.
French Toast was excellent - crisp outside, creamy inside, hardly need syrup at all. Add a couple good cocktails (the London Calling is an excellent - though certainly stiff - morning pick-me-up) and you have a solid brunc"
