L'Orcio
L'Orcio is an upscale dining establishment serving Contemporary Italian Cuisine. In house made specialty pastas like Gnocchi, Papparedelle and Eggplant Ravioli are only part of the L'Orcio experience. Chef d'Amuri, an Italian native, also works his magic grilling whole fish and juicy steaks and offers a variety of meat and fish dishes daily. Desserts like Tiramisu', Charlotte agli Amaretti and Lemon Tart are also prepared in house. A relaxing and elegant ambiance with a European flare is the perfect backdrop for lunch, dinner or spirits. Located in a refurbished historical home the restaurant offers three unique spaces for their guests. Whether you're having a cocktail at the handsome bar, an intimate dinner in the elegant dining room or Appetizers with friends under the Wysteria covered Pergola in the courtyard all of your senses are sure to be pleased. "I bid on a gift card at a silent auction and won. First it's nice to know the LOrcio supports good causes. Food was excellent t and price was fair. Margarita was very good and the wines available by the glass, including prosecco, were of good quality. Atmosphere was very relaxing and most important, not noisy like many other places. I had a fish special that was delicious. I would definitely go there again. It's a little off the beaten path as far as foot traffic in New Haven but there is easy parking in a lot across the street. Another plus. Great spot overall."

"Food and drinks were very good. Service was fair; waiter was waiting on a large party also. We didn't get much attention. It is a delightful small restaurant with a wonderful outdoor eating area. I will go back to try other items on the wonderful menu. Maybe service will improve. If not, we'll cross them off our list."

"I've eaten at L'Orcio a dozen times in the past year. Each time has been a pleasure. The food is consistently very good and the service has always been great. It can get a bit noisy during the typical dinner hours, however if you're in the mood for an energetic environment then you won't mind this at all.
If you want great Italian choices and a comfortable environment you'll definitely want to give L'Orcio a try."

"I have been wanting to try L'Orcio so went with 2 friends during restaurant week. We had a lovely dinner of appetizer, entree, and dessert; everything was absolutely delicious and the service was superb. Prior to dinner we had martinis at the bar and were seated for dinner right next to it. There were people seated at the bar during our dinner; the noise level was no different and we never even noticed the people coming and going. Definitely a place to go to more often - ambiance was lovely, dress was casual, and pricing was in line with the quality of the food and service. When I return I'll request a table outside, it was a little too chilly when we were there."

"I went for New Haven restaurant week with a friend so it was pretty busy, but we only had to wait like 5 minutes for our table because we had made reservations beforehand. Our waitress was so nice and very attentive which is always great. The food was pretty good and the selection was ok, not too many options but enough. My mozzarella and tomato appetizer was so good, simple yes, but sooooooooo yummy! The main dish was good too, I had Scottish salmon with gnocchi, I just wish the serving size was more. Lastly, I ordered a cappuccino with my tiramisu. Nothing special, pretty standard, but good nonetheless. I would go again but probably for lunch because it could be really pricey otherwise, and if I'm paying $$$, I expect to be blown away."

"I went to L'Orcio for restaurant week dinner. The food I had was delicious, although my date didn't particularly enjoy his plate. We had the seafood salad and lamb and ricotta gnocchi and caprese salad, all of which were fresh and very satisfying. My had eggplant ravioli, which was a much smaller plate than the gnocchi, and he didn't think was anything special. Overall it was a very nice experience with friendly waitstaff and great decor. I will definitely come back here again."

"The food was very good and the portions were wonderful. I was a little disappointing because the bread was blah (and considering it was Italian restaurant, I was expecting something a little warmer and fresher). The staff was wonderful and very attentive. The drink specials as well as the dining specials were of good variety and very tasty. The ambiance reminded me of homey candlelit dinner and the atmosphere was laid back and comfortable."

"I was a little disappointed with the service. We were a group of 4 women and so obviously had a lot to talk about. That may be why our waiter didn't come around often. We had to flag him down to place our order and bread was not delivered until after the order was taken. We also sat at the bar for cocktails prior to being seated and had the feeling we were putting out the bar tender by being there. The food was delicious however and a good value. I would like to return again and I'm hoping when I go back that the service will be more attentive."

We had an early Sunday dinner reservation and noticed that the restaurant quickly filled up by 6:00. The bar was large and warm with exposed brick that added a nice ambiance. Would definitely recommend for a tasty, well-priced meal in lovely surroundings. There is an outdoor patio too that would be perfect in the warmer months."

".....as a regular to this amazing restaurant, I know it's one of the best. Sunday I took two New York friends who are foodies and a bit snobbish with food in the city and Brooklyn. They allowed me to order all of my favorites, Meatballs, sardines, antipasti, arugula salad, meat board, and then a pasta course of ricotta gnocchi with Francesco's San Marzano quick sauce, even one order of spaghetti con vongole, then main orders ranging from Branzino, lamb chops, homemade pappadella, and sauteed breaded and stuffed porkchops, a few wonderful sides, sauteed spinach with garlic and olive oil, braised endive, and then we shared a flourless chocolate cake. Then the verdict from my N.Y.C.friends, AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER THAN ANYTHING ITALIAN IN NYC."

"Everything was very good. Food was prepared very well. From the salad and cheese plate appetizer to the main course through dessert.

"Usually the wait staff is excellent - not so this evening. Our waiter made several mistakes and didn't check back. I asked for a quieter section of the restaurant as it is usually noisy and we were tucked into a corner which I appreciated. The food was delicious."

"This was our second visit to L'Orcio. Once, again the food was outstanding. You cannot beat fresh-made pasta. I'd consider it the best traditional Italian restaurant in New Haven. My only complaint was the service. I'd consider it be less than attentive. Thankfully, the stellar meal made up for it."

"We arrived a bit late, but were still greated with a smile and taken to a lovely table. I had requested a quiet table and we were seated away from the other diners. We started with the local cheese plate with walnut bread and honey. Our server described each cheese on the plate which added to our enjoyment. With a wonderful glass of red wine, it was a great way to start the meal. We both opted for the salmon special which came with gnocchi. It had a wonderful peppercorn sauce and was cooked perfectly and delicious. Although we don't usually order dessert, I suggested we share the charlotte which was absolutely delicious. It was a lovely meal and we will be sure to eat here again, even though it is a little out of our way."
