"You go to a restaurant for its food. That's how I decided to give a try at Balaboosta. With its excellent and unique food offerings, Balaboosta stands firmly as a 5-star restaurant on my rating scale. Food was definitely top notch. Every dish excited us, especially those exquisite and flavorful small plates/appetizers. We actually replaced entree with more small dishes so that the excitement can last longer. The excitement hit its pike at the dessert session. We were amazed by the popular middle-eastern cheesecake "Knafe", which is topped with ice cream (we couldn't help being ecstatic...)! My dinning buddy and I were so satisfied everything from food to service, and would like to come back!"

"I didn't know what to expect at Balaboosta. It came highly recommended from a foodie NYC friend.
It was quaint, fun and the brunch menu had my head spinning. I wanted it all! I finally settled for the Short Rib Hash - TO DIE FOR! The chestnuts was a great touch. And the bloody mary was the best I have ever had... love freshly grated horseradish! WOULD DEF. GO BACK!"

"Went to brunch with friends, most of us had the braised rib hash, don't miss it. Squeezed OJ also makes a difference, as well as the grilled sourdough.
I go to Balaboosta every couple of months or so with friends or with my partner, never disappoints on the food. One issue I had once was that the table was still occupied y when I arrived, and there is not much space to wait, I left in a bad mood. However I returned as a customer because the food is so good. I just realize I have to have extra patience when I go.
The ambiance is very cozy and energetic at the same time, at night the lights are dimmed, it's an inviting atmosphere to engage in conversation enjoying the food, maybe that's why people don't want to leave their tables."

"Came with a group for a birthday brunch. The group before us was running behind so we had to wait for our table even with a reservation. Not a huge deal but then we ended up feeling kind of rushed as a result. We were told the kitchen was closing when we were still eating. When they served our meals they served three people and then it took another 5 minutes before the rest of the table received food. Food was great but the service had room for improvement."

"It's a very small restaurant so the tables are right next to each other. If you don't mind that, the food is good. I've gone twice with my friend who is a vegetarian so we share all of the vegetarian-friendly small plates. Fried olives, hummus, burrata and patatas bravas are yummy. I'm a carnivore and I haven't yet tried the dishes but the diners around me seemed to be enjoying their steaks and chickens. There are enticing specials to try as well. I also love the cocktail list."

"I love the simple yet adorable menu. The food and drinks all seem to have a taste of freshness. The scene within is magnificent.lt a small but extremely cozy restaurant. "Food and company was fabulous. Our waiter left midway through the meal without letting us know. When we looked to find her, she was sitting having a drink at the bar. We eventually got another server, but no one really seemed to care about how we were doing, if we needed more wine, dessert, etc. I have loved this restaurant for a long time and will go back for the food, but was sad to see the lackluster service."

"I think the food is terrific from appetizers, dinner and deserts; the steak was a little undercooked for not only me but for one of my dining companions and had to be sent back to be cooked more, but then came back with the proper temperature and had a really nice flavor. I tasted the Branzino one of the other diners had and it was delicious. The one issue I had which prevented me from considering it Outstanding is that there was only one salad; and it wasn't something that appealed to me or the other diners I was wsith so I think there should be a bigger selection in that department, especially for a middle-eastern themed restauarant; where salads are typically an important and enjoyable part of the overall cuisine."

"We went to Balaboosta for our five year anniversary on a Tuesday night at 6:15. When we arrived, there were not many other diners. By the time we left, the tables were mostly full, which is a great sign for a Tuesday night.
The food was great. We had a hard time deciding on what to get, so rather than get one main course each, we got a bunch of small dishes to share. Our favorites were the crispy cauliflower and the Israeli street fare. The lamb kebab special was also delicious.
The waitor was very friendly and helpful and offered helpful suggestions when asked."

"It was good, but not as good as expected. We liked 3 of 4 dishes, but service was rushed and we definitely felt like they were anxious to turn over the table. Also, despite reservations, we were seated right outside of the kitchen, and my chair was brushed almost every time a waiter went by. Since the reviews were so enthusiastic, we were disappointed."

"This was my fourth trip to Balaboosta. Although the food was very good, it wasn't as great as during previous trips. My favorite dish, chicken cooked "under a brick," was underwhelming and not at all the way I remembered it from the previous three visits. Israeli couscous was just ok, and, after referring back to their online menu just now, I think that the gremolata sauce was non-existent. Also, the fried olives, which were always amazing, were tasty, but again, lacking the "something special" that they had previously had. Other apps were good, and my friends, who had never been before, enjoyed their main courses. Coffee was only lukewarm, and we were sat next to the kitchen, even though a couple of nicer 4tops sat empty the entire time."

"Food was wonderful and fresh. The place is energetic with a high noise level, partly because of the hard surfaces throughout the room. We felt that service was quite rushed at our table and it appeared to us that some tables of younger. cooler people enjoyed much more leisurely meals. Still, the meal was delicious!"

"We really enjoyed ourselves at this friendly delicious restaurant. The grilled octopus was outstanding as was their hummus and fried olives. The Branzino was super fresh and whole grilled to perfection. You won't be disappointed."
